Even though I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, I still make my way out to Good Judy whenever I can. As an introvert who does try to socialize when I go out, the vibe here just hits different. It doesn't have that intimidating, high-energy chaos you get at the big nightclubs. The staff and patrons are always upbeat and welcoming, which makes it easy to actually relax and enjoy yourself. Maybe it's just me, but I never feel self-conscious here the way I do at a lot of other LGBT spots in the city where I have to squeeze myself through a maze of people. Looking from the outside, you'll be surprised that their venue has a bit of everything for everyone, so it's not just a neighborhood "dive bar." They have a small dance floor, a cute outdoor patio, and fun events going on all week. I probably avoided a busy night since I came on a Thursday evening, but even then, they really make the space work. Plus, the prices definitely beat Manhattan. Good Judy is a nice LBGTQ+ friendly neighborhood bar in Park Slope. There is a bar downstairs and a small area upstairs with another bar and a stage for live performances. The night we were there we happened to catch a drag performance by Blue & Rayne. Both queens were entertaining and put on a lively show. read more

Amazing bar in Brooklyn. The staff is really friendly and the space is intimate yet not suffocating. The backyard patio is charming.

Good Judy is a lounge and dance floor on the ground floor, and piano bar on the second floor where they have karaoke nights and drag shows. I attended piano karaoke with my friends. The pianist is incredibly talented. You hum a beat from a song and they know exactly how to play it. It's a safe space and a great time for everyone to share their singing voices and song choices. read more

I am so excited that this place is so close to my house! The service is was friendly and accomodating. The area is spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating in the front and on the back patio. Prices are reasonable for the area and the crowd laid-back. There is a dance floor that you have to walk past that is a bit of a tease during COVID times, ut I am optimistic for the future and canimagine having some great times with friends here. I want to like this bar. I truly do. But there is a massive disconnect between the bar making money and the space protecting its patrons. Good Judy isn't much of a safe space (spefically when it comes to inclusion... or getting a drink) if you don't fit the demographic it wants to cater to. That is unless you have the $$$ to become a regular fly, in which case you get the pass to be a creep. That being said Judy does amazing events, and some of the staff are geuinely kind people. But I kinda run out of strikes in terms of wanting to toss them my money. read more

Great neighborhood gay bar. Used to come here when it was Excelsior for improv classes/shows. They do shows outside when it's open streets. They still have the upstairs bar with the stage (was there for live band karaoke), and they have a backyard on the first floor. read more

My partner and I were SO HAPPY when Good Judy opened in the old Excelsior space. Warms my heart that our neighborhood still has places for the queer community to come together (safely, of course). And it's AWESOME. The frozen lemonade is soooooo good and the staff is so attentive. Come out, sit in the backyard- we are the cute queers in the back sipping Sandia lemonades happily supporting an absolutely great neighborhood business. read more

I raised my son in park slope believing it to be an accepting, open, and diverse neighborhood. Rarely did I encounter experiences that raised a red flag for me. I never expected that experience to happen at a LBGTQ bar. I was standing at the bar for twenty minutes on what was admittedly a busy Saturday afternoon. The bartender completely ignored me and went to serve two white women who were there after me. When I protested he said something about the order in which he was taking drinks. I knew different. POC know when they're being marginalized and white people don't even know, or care, that they're doing it. Please look up "unconscious bias". I will never set foot in this bar again. read more

So where do I start! Good Judy's I've been coming here since they opened up and they are also one of my local bars. I am a straight happily married white woman that I feel so welcome here! I've met so many good people here. The bartender's are so amazing at what they do and treat everyone. Yes! It gets really busy sometimes but they always make sure you are being served. They have performances from piano night karaoke to drag shows and on the weekend's DJ dance night's oh I can't forget to mention some Thursday's night's they have trivia night's. It's so much fun there it feels like it will never end!! Definitely a place to be! read more

I don't know what these other reviews are talking about. GJ has a VERY diverse crowd and also a diverse attentive staff. Ty and Diana are kickass bartenders, but so is the rest of the staff. The mixed drink menu changes periodically and has a variety of tastes at affordable prices. Luke makes a great Bloody Mary. The block parties they throw are fun and bring out a lot of people. Karaoke Piano nights show off some really talented (and some not so much, lol) patrons. Ignore the bad reviews for this place. Most of them are either LA types or are troll accounts created just to give GJ bad reviews. read more

Not a welcoming vibe. Bartenders will ignore you if you don't look "right". This is something that's mentioned in numerous other reviews. They showed me who they are and I believe them. There are plenty of other welcoming spots to spend your money. But if you want to support the performers during their block parties just pregame, sit outside and use the money saved to give directly to the performers. I don't know if it was my ethnicity or something else, but I was certainly made to feel unwelcome. When Luke the bartender finally served me, it was with enough attitude that I got the message not to come back. Gay bars should be places to feel safe, not excluded. The sooner businesses run this way go out of business, the better for the LGBTQ+ community. read more

Racist vibe bartenders. I wish I had read their previous reviews before going to this place. The staff has a whole Gays for Trump vibe going on. Don't expect service if you're Black. Expect to be ignored as the bartenders chose to serve White person after White person as you just stand there being ignored like it's 1955. Nothing was done after informing the manager of the 30 min wait to order a drink which just means this was done with managements approval. They of course pump CardiB and Megan because they love their Black performers. Just don't try and sit at a table, Cardi. Think twice before giving them your money. read more

Came here this past saturday 7/10/21 it was rather busy. Before I continue I would like to state that I have been working customer service for many years. As I walk in I stand at the corner closest to the entrance of the establishment, seems as though there are few people waiting for a drink on that side. This male bartender with a mustache tells all of us on that side with attitude that there is another bartender that is free while pointing at her. The really disrespectful part is in front of everyone he says to his female coworker that he doesn't understand why everyone is on one side. Now my answer to his question is that, it is no one's job to know if you can make their drink or not first and foremost, it is your job to kindly guide these paying customers to where they need to be so they can get their drink. One of my friends got a drink with the bartender that was available and not only was it 15 dollars, the drink had almost no alcohol in it what so ever. Terrible service, terrible drinks not coming back here thank goodness I didn't waste my money to wait forever for a crappy drink. Go elsewhere you can get more for you money at Xstasy bar, and a much better experience They call this place Good Judy I call it Rude Judy they better get it together or they are going to be begging for their lights to stay on.... read more
