This place is so cute and I think the prices are really fair! Service is also super fast. The Granny Smith was super light and refreshing! I really enjoying the intermingling of the different notes :) The hibiscus tea was also nice but maybe a little bitter in a smooth way? The date me ginger coffee is good too! The naan was great! A good size and fluffy. The lesbian labeneh homo hummus and masc and masc were all good! They all have super fresh flavors! The masc for masc is kind of sweet in a good way. Overall rating: 4.5 I was in the area and wanted to try this place since it's new. I liked how witchy & spiritual the bar is. I went really early, so it was a tad dead. The lights were so pretty & want to add to my space. Drink prices were reasonable but wish they were a tad cheaper for the location. What an incredible place! Not only is it a lesbian bar (whaaaat) but it also has amazing, creative drinks with good ingredients, a great food/snack menu, ample space for sitting/lounging, the most fun and playful decor anddd just overall incredible staff that really bring the space together. It's truly such a well curated spot. The prices are also really great!! Especially for the quality. I cannot rave enough about this place and can't wait to come back in the day for their coffee drinks (they all sounded so good) and for a date night with my girlfriend! read more

We went for the election night party for the Mamdani at an event organized by DSA. It was packed & I hadn't even RSVP'ed but I was able to sneak in. Everyone was friendly and the place is spacious. I stationed myself in the back room where the results were being projected live on the wall. I don't remember what I drank but it was themed and good. I talked to the projectionist who is close to mgmt and they were wicked nice. This is what community means, even if you don't live in the area: mutual respect. read more

---- Editing: one of the owners reached out to me to explain that it's a running joke. A black employee was telling a white employee something along the lines of, 'of course most people don't see those napkins, how typical.' The owner didn't apologize for the misunderstanding, just mentioned that it was me who took it super out of context. it is weird to assume a customer wouldn't assume it was them being talked about after staff immediately Said A Thing that triggers or warrants a follow up response when a customer originally Said A Thing. The owner said when I responded, the employees assumed I was joining in on their joke, prompting more 'light-hearted' laughing. I guess. I can see that it is now a Blown Out of Proportion Thing that snowballed; did not feel welcome enough in general to assume anything else could have been possible. I texted (friend of a friend of a friend kind of thing; the shop hosts events, I'm assuming this friend of a friend who offered the phone number is someone who had to coordinate with them via text at some point), and emailed, and the owner also asked how I got the number, like I set out to just poke at them until getting a response back. I mentioned I emailed and used the number a community member provided because I assumed different employees had access to different accounts, like instagram, business pages where people leave reviews, website email, etc.) ---- Really bizarre experience here. Came to work on homework with a classmate. All seats taken, so pulled a chair up to the one empty table towards the back of the shop no one had grabbed. The person making drinks said it was empty because people a little closer to that table, at a bench style table a few feet further away, were using that table for an event, just waiting for more attendees to arrive to claim the table, so check in with them first. So, I confirmed the table wasn't able to be used, put the chair back, then waited for someone to leave to be able to seat myself and have a table ready for the classmate on the way over. When someone did, they left their leaky coffee glass behind. I went up to the counter to ask for a napkin because I didn't spot any. The worker said, 'it's the black ones over in that corner.' I said 'oh, I didn't notice that area, thanks.' Started to walk away to grab some to clean the table and hear a different worker saying, 'kind of racist, they can't see the black ones.' On my way back to the table I say, 'I'm also a black person, I just need new glasses.' It is also ~dark, gay low lighting ambiance~ so it was generally dim in there. Both workers and the person they were talking to all just laughed at me instead of acknowledging that they found it completely fine to trash talk a guest. Just an uncomfortable experience. I know they provide our community with tabling and event space and opportunities, not sure why I got such weird treatment. read more

Ok, I've found a new favorite work location. It's very new so it's not too crowded, the drinks are very tasty, service is kind and quick, and the vibes are impeccable. I ordered the "Lavender Marriage" which is a lavender iced coffee. Loved it! There are plenty of outlets and lots of table space. I'm excited to go at night when they're in bar form! read more

I love this place! They make their vanilla syrup which I like, though I wish they sometimes had seasonal syrups to try in addition. Their pastry case gets switched out with things from local businesses and the interior design is to die for! They're very kind and supportive of the local culture and usually have open seating for those that want to work for a while. read more

Everyone talks a big game about wanting a queer bar that's also a coffee shop - that's Boyfriend! I usually come for the coffee shop vibes but love that I can end a writing session with a cocktail (the boyfriend spritz is the elite choice for your money.) The folks who work here are kind and friendly and make the vibe so welcoming - this is exactly what you're looking for. I know a place, etc. My only complaint is that the outdoor space is better suited for smoking than for vibing but let's be real, under the JMZ that's just a fact of life lol. read more

Boyfriend is already my new favorite café/bar in Brooklyn. The décor is absolutely adorable--every corner is photo-worthy. It's super spacious, perfect for group hangouts, dates, and solo time working on a laptop or reading a book. Their coffee is top-notch-- the cardamom rose latte is a must yum!!
