Came here on a Saturday evening around 8:30pm with friends. They have happy hour from until about 10pm which was great. No cover when we arrived but it seemed like they had a cover starting later for the DJs that night. If you arrive earlier in the night, you can grab a drink for the happy hour and find a spot to sit and chit chat. When we were there they had plenty of spots to sit. Bartenders were quick and attentive. The vibe is dark and divey. I didn't get make it tot he dance floor by my friend who did later around 2am said it was a good time. Drinks weren't too expensive though I did find them a little on the sweet side. Might be fun to start with one and then go for the standard vodka soda. I was really looking forward to coming here because I thought it'd be a great experience. I was really disappointed though. I don't understand why you have to pay a cover for really just a bar that also has a small dance area. I was expecting a lot more since you have to pay to get in. It's super crowded and there's people that know each other that would be great if they would welcome any new comers but instead it just feels cliquey. The dance area is pretty small and pretty dirty looking. Only good thing was the music but that really depends on what DJs there are that day. Drinks are okay but they have a small selection of cocktails to choose from. I really thought I'd be getting more. Came here last night and had a blast. My group was one of the last few people hanging out. I live pretty close by and am pretty excited to frequent this place more. Large space with a dance floor in the back. Cool and unique decor (tarot cards, Chinese New Year symbols, etc.). Great cocktails and great service. The bartender (his name was "lando"...but i could be wrong. It's his fault anyways - he made those worthy drinks. They'll snatch your memory), he was super chill and I made the assumption that the guy he was working with was a barback- come to find out he's one of the owners. I really like to see places that show great team effort and leadership. As a bartender myself , things like that would always get me to return. We must've had such a great time because I called and thought I left my card there (i gotta get it together) . That person who answered was super nice and professional. Fun night, no card. To be honest Mood Ring doesn't leave me a deep impression, I suppose it's because their outdoor seating was kinda boring during quarantine??? I came here for a drink with two of my friends who are frequent guests, they recommended the place to me because the interior was very vintage and inspired by old Wong Kar Wei movies, I didn't notice that when I went in to use the bathroom. Mood ring does have a wide selection of house cocktails, some are okay but there was one that was blue which didn't taste good. You order drinks at the counter and they'll call your name to pick up when it's ready, so hardly any service. I suppose it's a good place to hangout if you live in the community, but definitely not special in any way. read more

My girlfriend and I were looking for some bars near our Airbnb to wind down after a long travel day. We were recommended to this new spot (now not so new anymore) that was in area and it happened to only be a few minutes Uber ride away. It's definitely hidden, as there isn't much signage outside. Cool and unique decor, all themed towards astrology but with a hip twist to it. They have a large space in the front with a bar and also a dance floor in the back where they have live music playing throughout the evening. We tried out a few of their signature drinks, Petty, Mercury in Retrograde, Gucci Belt, Tony Leung, and also got their monthly specialty astrological drink, which was Sagittarius at the time. All the drinks were reasonably priced and the bartenders even gave us a few shooters on the house! It was so fun the first night that we went back again our second night. So I decided to check out Mood Ring after a bleh date on a Thursday Night alone, yes alone, because I just didn't feel like going back home. So I sauntered inside and walked back to the dance room. The music was eclectic electronic and everyone looked cool and some guys would glance but not talk. So once it started getting fuller near midnight, I, the solo club goer, was standing in the back corner when I notice a man standing nearby checking the coats and jackets on the hooks on the wall. I kept an eye on him and 10 minutes later he quickly passed his hand over another jacket and I noticed he was with another man, he was checking the other side jackets! The room was showered in a red and black light glow and lined with plush booths and the cutest 2 seater by the window. If you're trying to have an intimate drink witch someone with very relaxed vibes-this is the place. The drinks are whimsy and there's always an astrological special drink depending on which sign we are currently in. The bartenders are so friendly and helpful. This is a unique place. Not a huge fan of this neighborhood- but this place I enjoyed. It's definitely eclectic, which is awesome, but you definitely pay for it. You will find yourself shelling out $10-$15 for a drink. I like the type of people that frequent this bar, which is obviously important and the dance floor was very enjoyable. I am so on the fence about this place to give it less of a rating because the bathroom is probably the worst that I have visited yet BUT you cannot beat the price and the unique atmosphere here. Mood Ring has a few booths to sit in addition to the bar and you can make your way to the back and find a dance floor that is through velvet curtains which is great to give a little space to others. This place definitely gets lively around 10 PM and you'll see all sorts of characters stroll in. The best part is probably the variety of cocktails that they have, but there's no real top shelf. The prices may seem affordable, but I'm comparing it to Manhattan prices. Nonetheless, it is definitely a chill place go to. I was really just so turned off by how bad of a stench the bathroom had compared to any other bar, lounge, club I've been to. The best seating area will definitely be as close to the door as possible, giving you some "fresh air" and a bit of space from the crowd that makes their way in. read more

This is my favorite bar in Brooklyn. Possibly even NYC. The staff and the owners are the most hip, sweetest people I've met in nightlife. Wong Kar Wai is my favorite director and astrology is another passion of mine. Literally up until a week ago I wore a mood ring at all times. The cocktail list at Mood ring is amazing and so thoughtful. In the Days of Being Wild, Outkast, Tony Leung and Mercury in Retrograde are fantastic at a moderate price point. Also they have a full bar and special shots. My favorite is Mystery of Luv. And the rotating astrology special is really fun! My one point of sadness is no hooks under the bar. Otherwise thank you Bowen, Randall, Sarah, Frank, Trevor and Vanessa for being so wonderful. If I tried I couldn't dream up a better bar. read more

I love this bar! So much that I came twice in a row during my visit. I had 2 very different experiences, but both equally fun. On Friday, it was packed and I managed to sit at the bar for most of the night trying out all the fun cocktails. Petty, Mercury in Retrograde, Gucci Belt, Tony Leung, plus their specialty Sagittarius drink. I don't know why so many people complain about the prices. $11 is a steal. Guess some never been to LA before, or worse, Vegas where it's $25 for a vodka cran. There's also a back dance floor which seems pretty cool, but I didn't spend too much time there. On Saturday, I brought some more friends with me, but it was noticeably slower. We sat at a booth, and this time did more shots and shooters than the cocktails. Again, $5 for a shot is great deal. Had about 6 each and before you know it, it was 4am closing time. The bartenders are all super friendly too. Definitely seems like a popping place for locals, but if you're a tourist in Brooklyn, I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

I've heard great things about Mood Ring from my friends. So I decided to try it out for myself and went there this past weekend late on Valentine's Day and then on Saturday. I had a good time on Valentine's day even though the place was already a bit empty since we came before closing around 3 a.m. We did have a poor experience with one man who wouldn't take no for an answer and stalked us for the rest of the night and stood close to us, watching us, smiling in a creepy way. His friend apologized to us, and we didn't think too much into it. We came again, on the earlier side of the night on Saturday. And let me just say this - as a queer woman, I haven't felt this uncomfortable for a long time anywhere in NYC. I could have gone to a "straight" bar and felt safer. But at Mood Ring, my friend and I were followed and harassed by multiple men. At some point, I had to defend the coat check woman because a man was hitting on her and wouldn't leave her alone. I told him "how dare you" and asked him to leave her alone. Another man, wouldn't leave my friend and me alone so I broke the news to him that this was a "queer bar" and that we were together. He was shocked and said that he thought one of us had to look like "a man." He then left us alone and stormed out. I really like the atmosphere, the drinks, and the music at Mood Ring, but I don't want to come back after the poor experiences we had this past Saturday. I'm writing this review as a courtesy to Mood Ring, to notify you about what's going on if you were not yet aware. I hope that Mood Ring can find ways to solve this issue, or else, I'm afraid, it will start losing its clientele. I know some other parties, ask guests who don't identify as queer or POC to pay extra. Not that Mood Ring would do that, but perhaps it could be something as funny as telling people that they'll become "a feminist" once they enter the bar, and reminding them that it's a safe space. I think if the man who talked to us knew from the start where he was, perhaps he wouldn't have entered at all. Unfortunately, other men prefer queer spaces on purpose because they fetishize queer women, and make this an uncomfortable experience for all of us. read more
