These people are legit horrible and make terrible drinks. They overcharged me and then were super rude about it when I disputed the charge. I had a bad time here the first time I came and a bad time I came the second time. It kinda sucks I'm giving this place 3 stars because the theme and vibe of the bar is very hip, dark, friendly and tropical but it was way too crowded the night I stopped by. You can barely walk through the passageway between the bar and the dancefloor. The bathroom is also between there so it's just a bunch of people bunched up in that spot. It's kinda hard to enjoy yourself when everyone is literally on top of you. I'm assuming this is a much nicer place on a relaxed evening so I still recommend this as a spot to check out. read more

The floor throughout is completely uneven as if under construction, and reminiscent of the surface of the moon-- and I didn't put moon boots on. it's honestly inaccessible and not welcoming to anyone wearing heels or trying to do any type of choreography or bust a move in any type of scenario. I love going to Mood Ring it never fails as a fun, cool bar to hang out at with friends. Cocktails can be a hit or miss, I usually just stick with wine or beer but the staff is very nice and I love the dance hall in the back. It's a nice addition to the Bushwick bar scene and I love their custom matches they have sitting in bowls around the bar. read more

Never yelped before but these people are the absolute worst. Here we go: So I was booked to play this party last Thursday night at Mood Ring Bushwick. We booked the gig for the 30th, the last Thursday of the month and I was to get 10% of the bar for playing an all night new wave set - a genre they specifically requested and one that took me two weeks to prepare for (six hours of new wave is a lot). When I checked in last Monday with their managment to see if they were going to do a flyer for the event they informed me that the date for the party had been changed and they had in fact held it on Sunday the 26th and just never told me, saying they figured I was a no show (I would never had agreed to try to do a night on the Sunday after Thanksgiving as most people are either out of town or still hungover). I was never contacted about the date change and when I looked online there was no promo for an event that Sunday, which makes me think this was just bullshit...?). When I explained that I had in fact been booked for the 30th they decided to go ahead with the evening and do it on the 30th as planned - I figured out of curtesy since they had made a mistake, although that left only two days for promo - they rejected my idea of doing it a week later so we could have time to promote properly. Upon preparing for the gig I realized around 10 mins to 10 that they had in fact done no promo for the night (as they repeatedly said they would) and I decided to whip up a quick event invite which made me a half hour late for an all night set. Since they had done zero promo I realized it was on me to bring the crowd. I arrived at 10:25 to play a five and a half hour set and they promptly informed me that I should leave. No room for discussion. Saying I was late and because of that fact the event was cancelled. When I explained why I was late and that I had a crew coming for the party, I was basically told to go fuck myself and because I was late there was absolutely no way I was going to play that night. Funny because they texted me while I was on my way over saying it was a slow night and up to me if I wanted to play or not. When I got there the bar was packed!!! It made no sense. I was the only Dj booked for the evening and by cancelling the party last minute they were losing money! Being late is something I always try to avoid but in situations like this I figured it worth it to get some promo up. Also I was getting paid peanuts! 10% of the bar from the time I start to the time I finish (which is a cheap rate for a small Brooklyn dive that probably does 500$ in sales max on a Thursday) so I just couldn't understand the logic. It seemed oddly personal. In 16 years of djing internationally and 25 years in the hospitality business (including running my own nightclub and restaurant) I have never dealt with a more amazingly amateurish and disrespectful managment duo as the couple that runs this place and that is saying a LOT! They spoke to me like I was a dog that had shit the rug. My entire experience with them was bizarre and unprofessional from the first conversation one month ago. These two are either too hopped up on whatever party drugs they're doing to remember a basic conversation or spend too much time with their inflated egos masturbating in the mirror when what they should really be doing is reading a basic book of cocktail recipes to improve their incredibly shitty overpriced cocktails. Mood Ring is a shining example of what happens when people with zero experience and massive egos open a bar. The level of douche-baggery is unquantifiable. I can't wait to see what opens up in that location next year after they run it into the ground. Stay away. read more

This bar is exactly what NYC needed! LGBTQ friendly vibes, very cool aesthetics, and amazing music (mostly house) - what else can you ask for? Bathrooms are gender-neutral. There's a photobooth inside ($5 for two sheets). The dance floor is separated from the bar area, and the volume in the bar area isn't as loud so it's the perfect mix - you can dance your ass off, then be able to talk easily in the bar area without having to yell. read more

We went here spontaneously on a Friday night around 11:30pm. My girlfriend had read about its cool Brooklyn vibe in Brokelyn and about the drinks that change with the astrological signs. The exterior is plain and easy to miss if you haven't been there before. There was a bit of a line. It moved quickly. The bouncer was nice and jovial. Inside, the venue is dark and has 90s like devices scattered throughout. The bar is in the front and is a bit small and tight. We ordered two of the astrological drinks. They were okay. They tasted more like shots than drinks. The dancing was fun and the music was great. There was also a photobooth off to one side of the venue. The clientele were almost exclusively from Brooklyn donning interesting and unique clothes. They were for the most part friendly and nice and down to talk to whoever was around. This is a place you visit for the great and chill vibes. We would definitely come back. It was a very fun time. read more

This place can't compete with the lower prices at Gotham City Lounge across the street. I got the Mercury in Retrograde and the Spiked Jarritos. Neither of my drinks tasted like they had any alcohol in them. My friends got the Libra Special, which was a consistently disgusting drink, that tasted more layered than mixed. stopped in here after seeing a lot of hype on bushwick daily - the pictures had looked great. In reality it's a bizarrely pretentious spot where cheap beer bottles are served up at $6. Comparatively every other bar around this one serves at least 1-2 beers at $3-$4 price point (Bootleg, Birdys, Gotham, Bossa Nova, Happy Fun HideAway, Lone Wolf, Looking Glass etc) making Mood Ring a bizarre outlier. I read that the owners have never managed a bar before...we'll see how long this lasts. Enjoy your $36 6 packs guys. read more
