Disco Ball in Main Room

What a kick-ass bar/concert venue! Went there recently to see Nick Hakim, and the experience was extremely pleasant. Look for the neon blinking eye floating in darkness on the street- it looks all industrial until you see the decal. When you enter, there is a bar right in front of you, with banquet-style seating that wraps around the walls of the room. To your delight, you will see a $3 Coat Check to your right and unisex bathrooms to your left. What's cool about the bar is that it sits between all three rooms: the rounding of the bar is in the first room, while the length of the bar is in the second room, and a mini bar in the third room (event space) kind of railroad- style. The bartenders slide from room to room giving exceptional customer service. The event space part of the room is amazing. DJ booth to the right, sound system is state of the art, and the stage is low enough where you're practically sitting with the artist as they perform. Get there early- the room is one level so standing in the back can make it hard to see the artist at times. The food menu- is a bit limiting, however it may be because it's a performance venue as well. There is only one dessert (Key Lime Pie) and the cuisine is Spanish-esque (chimichangas, tacos, etc). The prices are not wild ($11 for a chimichanga, add $2 for vegan options), however they are served in brown to-go boxes and are available for pickup only on the back terrace (so no servers*). The drinks are also served in plastic cups, however the front bar does have glassware. Mind you- this may be a formality bc it's a performance venue to prevent excessive broken glass. All in all, the place was fun. If I lived in the area, I'd probably frequent here.

I've been living in Ridgewood since the '80s with a brief stint in Middle Village. They recently had an article that said Ridgewood was the 4th "hippest" city in the WORLD. I was like, yeah, right! If you like obnoxious hipsters, lots of shuttered storefronts, and dirty streets/sidewalks. Coming to TV Eye for the first time the weekend that just went by has me now thinking, "Hmmm...Ridgewood, quite possibly, really IS cool!" I'm basing that opinion solely on TV Eye!!! Came here to see Jon Spencer and the HITmakers on Saturday. It's so nice to only have to walk 5 minutes from your home to see a show. It's glorious! It's very unassuming on the outside. Without the neon sign lit up at night, you wouldn't even know what this place was. It's on a block with residential houses, a laundromat, and a gym. There's no security checking you before coming in. Thought that was odd for a venue. As soon as you walk in you have the main bar area. Very punk and sleek if that combination makes any sense. There's a decent amount of seating at the bar and leather booths/chairs along the wall. They even have a telephone booth with a rotary dial phone. So stinking cute! Real-lit candles at every table. The coat check is to the right of the bar. The bathrooms were spotless. It's one big unisex bathroom with about 8 or so stalls. Right before you enter the ballroom for any shows, there's another little bar area with more seats. To the left of the ballroom is where they have the band's merch and where they sell food. Also, some tables to eat there as well. I didn't have any food, but what they had there looked good. Lots of vegan options. To the left of that is the outdoor area where they have brunch when it's nice out. A good-sized area with lots of picnic tables. Now, the ballroom is pretty small. Probably only holds a couple of hundred people. The soundproofing is amazing at this place! So much so that we were at the bar drinking while the DJ was spinning and the 2 opening bands were playing and we didn't even know! Glad we didn't miss who we went there to see. As soon as you enter the ballroom, you have the sound booth to your left and a tiny bar to the right which is extremely convenient. It was very packed but we wormed our way up to the front. A good size stage with red, velvet curtains. The sound is great. I have ZERO complaints about this place. I had a blast. It's not the kind of place that will showcase bigger bands but it's great for indie/smaller bands. The drinks were cheap and STRONG! As we walked outside, I felt like I was transported to a different world. Back to reality on a COLD, windy night. TV Eye is the best. It makes living here all worth it. Especially when I just had to walk a few blocks to get home.

WOW So not only has this place survived through Covid and coming out of 2020 still open, but it is in fact THRIVING!! Who know it had one of the best (albeit windiest) outdoor alley courtyards in the city as well. Not to worry about that breeze, they have a legit heating system. The food is as awesome as before and they even recently started doing Sunday brunch. Strong contender for most uniformly badass staff and clientele and soundtrack in the city for sure.

Valentine's Day variety show was cute! Highlight was drag terrorist Christeene. With a lounging Barbra Streisand on the wall, crab rangoon burgers & tacos, we had fun & can't wait to come back for another show. $3 cash coat check.

Gruff Rhys, fantastic as always.

TV Eye is great, and has the ideal setup for great live music shows. The bar in front, an outdoor open air space with picnic tables, and an excellent room and stage for shows. The entire decor is beautiful, and without an exclusory feel. I'm too high to drink, and two fat lime slices in my perfectly iced 'just a seltzer' was a sign of great customer service. So, that's two 'great's, one 'excellent', one 'beautiful' and one 'perfectly'. And an amazing schedule of acts!

The bar is a bit on the smaller side in terms of seating, but it has a TON of personality. I loved the eclectic decorations and knickknacks around the seating areas and the bar. The bartender had the TV tuned in to Jeopardy, so my inner (or extremely obvious?) nerd was beaming. In terms of the drinks themselves, I tried the cocoa orange whiskey (?) infusion on the rocks, and my BF had the chipotle paloma. We would both say they were solid, definitely not at "craft cocktail" level, but decent. This bar has a fun + dive-y feel - the kind of place where you get a beer, a plate of chicken nuggets, and watch trash tv with your neighborhood crew (I think they actually do have people who have a weekly Bachelorette viewing during the week). Definitely worth checking out if you're already in the area and looking for ~vibes.~

I've had a number of drinks here and it's been a great meeting spot for late night occasions, especially ones that revolve around a good drink. No doubt it's one of the more underrated nightlife venues in the borough. The setup feels like something out of a Brooklyn type bar - pseudo hipster vibe, casual environment with the whole board games and stacks of books all within a space that is well divided to give a different feel in each corner of the small'ish interior. Like a living room extension but with adult company. Of course, the bar is the most prominent thing in the room and it's a great place to chill as a solo patron. Groups can congregate in the lounge-y areas but the feel is remarkably different depending on where one choses to hang. On a beverage front, there is no shortage of quality drinks to be had. The cocktails are well made and not expensive; the bartenders do a good job of making sure each drink carries a certain kind of potency before leaving the bar. The happy hours are lovely as well, combined with a good deals ($5 shot + beer special, $5 cocktails, etc.) and even better hours (2-8pm!). Lastly, I appreciate a good name. Bad Old Days can be interpreted in many facets, but I think this establishment prides itself on good company and somehow rewards us with simple, good drinks. Bring a friend or three, enjoy the random movies that get projected onto the wall, and enjoy a late night capper in a quiet part of an emerging part of Queens.

Yee-haw in Ridgewood!…read more My boyfriend is always asking me about my regular bar. I go to TV Eye for the shows, Milo's Yard for the yard and dj nights and Ore Bar is my fave but Jones Bar there's something about you that keeps you in my thoughts! We came on a Sunday afternoon for a cold one before heading home. It is insanely chill. The bartender was funny and inviting. The regulars were like old friends. My boyfriend loved talking sports with a few and deep diving into their love and hate for the Mets! The bartender mentioned that there was supposed to be a vintage market that was cancelled because of the rain. There is food pop ups as well and live music. This recent Friday was four live acts and for FREE. We made our return to our new fave spot. It did not disappoint. The place was packed but not annoying. People were chill. Age range from 25-40 maybe. The first guy playing is from Austin, Bubba Lucky also designed the flyer for the event. The second act, Patton Magee was a three piece. A perfect Friday night hang for sure. Country is back in the best way. This is the kinda bar I was searching for in Nashville. I'm glad it's here in Queens. I am a music lover but I like hopping around genres. So it's nice to get my fix here. So happy to finally be making this a home away from home. These were skippable to be honest: mega thick bacon (just ok) home fries (meh) The chilaquiles (pork chorizo, salsa ranchera, crema, queso fresco, sunny up eggs) lacked flavor for a dish with so much going on.
