She scowled while telling us about the minimum, then said they couldn't break our larger bill. There was no ATM, and she offered no suggestion for where to get cash. I don't need a bartender to entertain me, but offering a menu or pointing someone toward an ATM would have gone a long way. We'd planned to stay, play pool, and order more. Instead, we felt unwelcome enough to leave after one game. I told her to charge whatever she needed to close the tab. She repeated the minimum, charged us over $10 for one seltzer, and then said, "Seriously? You're not gonna tip for one seltzer?" I've worked in service my whole life, from barback to management, in several industries, and I now own and operate a service business nearby. I know people have rough days, but this is no way to treat someone walking in for the first time. I don't know who hurt her, but it wasn't us. I don't think she should be behind that bar if this is how she treats customers. If she told me bartending was just a way to save up before becoming a cop or taking over the lost-luggage desk at JFK, I'd believe her. She's already mastered treating a simple question like a personal offense. Management has the date, approximate time, and my card transaction if they want to know who was working. I went as Post Malone and really enjoyed the crowds reaction to my set. Colleen, one of the hosts is always so friendly and welcoming. She even performs herself! Mike, the sound guy extraordinaire, works wonders from behind the sound booth. He's always adjusting levels on the fly and helping each performer sound their very best. My boyfriend loved talking sports with a few and deep diving into their love and hate for the Mets! The bartender mentioned that there was supposed to be a vintage market that was cancelled because of the rain. There is food pop ups as well and live music. This recent Friday was four live acts and for FREE. We made our return to our new fave spot. It did not disappoint. The place was packed but not annoying. People were chill. Juicy watermelon cubes coated in chamoy, chili flakes and mint. Sweet, spicy, tangy and refreshing all at once. It's one of those dishes that sounds simple but completely delivers. The Chicken Milanesa was a solid protein forward dish. Beautifully golden and crispy with a light coleslaw on top that kept it from feeling too heavy. And the Chilaquiles were loaded and satisfying, topped with crema, cotija and scallions. The Vampiro cocktail has spicy tequila, house sangrita, hibiscus and grapefruit. The green rice was surprisingly good (I'm not the biggest fan of rice). The space was a lot smaller than I had anticipated but very well thought out, didn't feel like we were sitting on top of an each. I love an open kitchen concept to see what it takes to pump out delicious meal after meal.
