OK, so this is confusing - there are 2 pages on Yelp that are for The Dez, and there are indeed two…read morelocations, but it seems like people are just reviewing wherever they are reviewing for either location (they are like, steps from each other). ANYWAY. We have been here a couple of times - will usually stop by here when we're in Joshua Tree. On Saturdays, there is a Farmer's Market in the parking lot, so it gets pretty crowded. This last time we went, I got an iced strawberry matcha, and my partner got the chai iced tea. Both with almond milk. They still charge a surplus for non-dairy, which feels so 2022. But anyway. The drinks were delicious. We also got an almond croissant, which doesn't look like much, but it was AMAZING. And then the quiches. Oh, the quiches. I had such high hopes for these, especially since we were primed with refreshing drinks and a tasty pastry. These quiches are muffin-sized, perfect for a light meal or a heavier snack, and they look super cute. They will heat them up for you. When we went, they had bacon cheddar and spinach feta. We got one of each. My friends, these were so disappointing. First, no flavor. We asked for ketchup or hot sauce to give it a bit of acid, because it was basically egg all the way through. Solid wall of egg that tasted like the powdered egg you get at one of those corporate conference catered breakfasts. I had one tiny sliver of bacon in mine, and my partner was playing hide and seek with the spinach, and the spinach was winning. The crust itself was rubbery and chewy, not flaky like I would expect a quiche to be. I mean, it was palatable and not super expensive. I'm just not sure if you're selling food, you want it to just be "palatable". Last time, we got a savory veggie pie, and that was pretty good, so they DO have good savory foods. I think the quiches were just a huge miss this time. Bathroom is clean and single-stalled. Parking is easy in the lot, and on Farmer's Market days, I mean, c'mon, it's Joshua Tree, it's not like there isn't space on the streets too.

Might have to meet up with friends here sometime for random hangs without having to cook. They also get a star for the nice lady working the register.

Whatever sauce they had on it was also delicious, and the sandwich was filling. The restaurant is a very large, airy, comfortable space in back of Rite Aid and Aldi, and is a pleasant space. The place also has coffee, bagels, croissants, bagel sandwiches, poke, and pho, along with numerous kinds of tea (milk tea, Thai tea, Matcha tea). The pho and bagels I saw other people eating looked delicious. The people who worked there were very friendly.

It had no flavor or seasoning. The eggs weren't even over hard, they were scrambled instead. The cornbread was bland. Good thing I added butter, because it helped make it more moist and gave it some flavor. My partner ordered Mike's Mess with white toast. His scrambled eggs were also filled with potatoes, and the overall meal was just as disappointing. The food lacked flavor and wasn't satisfying at all. I've never had such a disappointing, bad breakfast experience until this restaurant. The restaurant was clean, had plenty of tables, and was busy. Most importantly, the staff was friendly and nice.

(I suggest putting some fresh spinach at the bottom of your ramen bowl and letting the hot broth soften the leaves up; sliced radishes go on top) The tamales I got this week were AMAZING. A couple years back I got some not-good tamales, but when I saw the vendor this week I was like "yes, these are the good tamales!!!" Oh, and if you see the stall with the pistachio croissants, go for it.

On the way there, we got a call back and they apologized for missing our call and offered to squeeze us in even after hours, even letting us dine in. We were so grateful! The service was amazing, and the food did not disappoint. We ordered a margherita pizza, a pepperoni and sausage pizza, and a salad--everything was absolutely delicious. Such a great experience all around. Highly recommend!

I wasn't very impressed food wise though relative to the cost. We ordered a Pepperoni ($19) and Hey Boo Boo ($22) pizza and some cheesy bread for an appetizer. They were fine. We all enjoyed them, but wouldn't crave the pizza here more than at other locations that offer more value. What did make this place standout though was the fun decor and opportunities for play! We had a fun time playing street fighter on their video game console and an even better time playing on their shuffle board. All in all, I would definitely come back for the vibe, and would love to check out a live event.
