Zydeco Breakfast

We went here during a recent vacation and left very disappointed. With the exception of the corn bread, which I thought was quite good, the food was largely mediocre. My youngest daughter ordered Mac and cheese, which she said didn't taste like Mac and cheese (it tasted like only garlic and breadcrumbs). My wife got the Huevos Rancheros, which was just weak salsa over soggy (untoasted/unfried) tortillas, with unseasoned beans and eggs. The rest of my family was equally unimpressed.

It was highly recommended to us to stop by Crossroads Cafe while in the JT area, and our experience was just not a good one. We ordered their supposedly popular 'Polenta & Eggs', which comes with 2 eggs, any style, with a side of grilled herbed-polenta, topped with some feta cheese; there was a cup of ranchero sauce on the side. We requested the egg to be over medium, which was actually fried hard; the polenta had absolutely no flavor, and the so-called 'ranchero' sauce was watery and super thin. The meal was also served with a side of black beans and a side of cabbage slaw; we had requested there to be no cilantro, but, of course, the place totally ignored that and there was a huge mound on top of the beans. The sour cream, which was stated in the description to be offered, was non-existent. The cabbage slaw was definitely vinegar-based, but it had a putrid, off-putting odor to it; this was inedible. Staff could have been more friendly and more welcoming; not sure why it's so hard to be dressed in a smile? Super disappointing experience, and we felt that it was such a waste of a trip to stop on by. +inedible food +doesn't adhere to customization requests +unfriendly staff +parking available in lot

The food was really good!! The water had that weird tap water taste tho. The cornbread with my meal was surprisingly not dry. But had to wait an hour for a table, but at least the service was quick.

Brunch with the girls post JT trip and this cafe was the spot! Lol. We waited 20 minutes for our party of 5 - which was great since there were some fun shops across the street. This cafe is so busy and crowded but worth the food. We got a variety of things for brunch. The omelettes are huge, the eggs benedict was amazing, and the breakfast burrito was good. Their bfast potatoes are seasoned so well. We all definitely took some to go. They are known for their banana bread which they serve with butter on the side, I highly recommend. Delicious! Good food. Amazing service. Add this pit stop for brunch when in the area.

The ratings don't do justice. This Café opens pretty early in the morning, I came to the restaurant for early breakfast around 7:30-8am and it was the best decision we've ever made. I was craving for a good omelette and the omelette I ordered was so good. It was very filling. I added a side of fruit bowl and banana bread (PLEASE TRY THE BANANA BREAD) and they were both pretty good size and the taste was excellent. Will definitely come back when I visit Joshua tree again. Servers were very nice and the inside was very cozy, it was warm as the weather was pretty chilly outside in the morning. Overall, would highly recommend this place!

Mac & Cheese, Veggie Chili, Seitan burger. So delicious.

I see some of the 1-star reviews, and I don't want to invalidate anyone else's experience, but we really enjoyed our experience here. The service isn't like, overt performative friendly (like what we're used to in LA) - more like a quiet kindness that felt fitting to the Joshua Tree area. They don't serve breakfast for dinner, even though it's on the menu, so I, who wanted one of the breakfast scrambles, had to pivot and ended up getting the veggie chili with salad and mac 'n cheese. The veggie chili is so bomb. Just the right amount of heat for us, and the mac 'n cheese was fresh and super comforting. My partner got the seitan burger with the chili cheese fries, and man did those fries hit the spot.

Crossroads cafe offers one of my favorite perks: free taxidermy to ogle at while you chow down. For my money, the main attraction here is the stuffed bobcat on the wall. At some point in time, someone witnessed this large, stinky cat carcass & thought it was still fresh enough to be reincarnated as a dead action figure version of its former self. Then someone at Crossroads purchased or asked to own this stuffed animal outright. The wonders never cease. I tried the breakfast burrito here. Not too bad. Eggs were sufficiently cooked, and all that jazzercise. I did enjoy the free side of beans. While I was eating, I did notice that this place can get a tad packed or stuffed with people; not unlike the taxidermy bobcat watching over all diners at The Crossroads with its cool, glass eye.

The service in the little caffe was good and fast, the lady was more than welcoming and attended to us right away. The food was decent, normal for breakfast but the coffee was delicious we even went back the day after for coffee. Overall the place is good to have some decent breakfast.

Came in on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was completely empty, which was actually a plus since it made for a calm and quiet lunch. I had two mimosas and they were really good nice balance, not watered down. The food was filling, tasty, and definitely hit the spot. The only downside was the flies inside the restaurant. While eating, we had to constantly shoo them away, which made the experience a little distracting. If they fix that issue, this spot would be a solid go-to for a relaxed meal.

This is a great diner experience! My group mostly got "The Usual" and it was a good amount of delicious food! The staff was friendly and the waitress was quick with orders and refills. The banana bread was amazing. We all got that with our meal and was not disappointed. Egg white omelette was great

Decent place to get some food but long wait times to get seated + longer wait to get your food. We ordered an omelette and steak tacos - Omelette was good but the steak for the tacos had no seasoning and overall bland.

Great service and attentive staff. Went for lunch. Food was OK, bit small but overpriced. Cooks showed some talent and enthusiasm for their cooking. Next time I will try their breakfasts.

The wait time was kind of underestimated as they said 20 minutes it ended up being 40, so I recommend making a reservation, especially for Sunday brunch. I ordered vegan soyrizo and hashbrown with vegan scramble. It was pretty good. My friend Stephanie got eggs Benedict. The best part of the experience is the interior decor inside. The staff was all very hard working and friendly.

Ask the Community - Crossroads Cafe

Is it only take-out at the moment?

No! They have table service May 2022

Do they offer any gluten free options?

Yes they do, just precise with them when ordering

Is this establishment Dog friendly?

It's a super small place with no outdoor seating. I would suggest the Two Sisters Cafe nearby. Has outdoor seating and seemed pet friendly.

I knew I had to try Joshua tree coffee beans because their awesome reviews. But when I went to their website and wanted to order, they had a $10 shipping and handling fee (even for subscriptions) which seemed excessive, so I changed my mind placing an order. Couple of days later, I got an email from them that if there is anything that they can do for me to order. So I let them know that I refuse to pay the shipping. And then couple of days after that, I got an email that for a limited time they are waiving the S&H charge! I placed an order and received my order about 7 days later which I think it took a while. I have received coffee orders from ID and it has got to me much sooner. When I opened the bags, the beans look waxy. I don't know what the name is for that roasting process but I don't like it. Overall the beans taste good. If I am ever in Joshua tree area, I will for sure visit the cafe but I don't think I will order from them again anyime soon!

This bakery, with its wonderful baker-owners, Julia and Ian, is probably the best thing to happen…read morein YV since we first moved up into Burns Canyon 17 years ago. The bread, pastries (sweet and savoury!), cookies, cake (carrot!) and then also their amazing sandwiches, well, it is all to die for. During my 40+ minute drive down from the canyon I am thinking the whole time, 'What should I get today?' And so looking forward to eating it. About the sourdough bread (everything here is sourdough of course)... I have been baking sourdough bread, using the same starter, for the last 16 years (along with waffles and pancakes and biscuits) -- inspired by what I first found at San Francisco's Tartine and soon after at Luna -- and Luna's bread continues to inspire me (I wish I could bake it so perfectly every time). If you are in YV, Joshua Tree, Pioneertown (on your way to and from Pappy and Harriet's maybe?) and vicinity, do not miss the opportunity to visit Luna Sourdough Bakery.

I can't believe I'm gonna say this (because who complains about too much food), but. There was way too much brie. Like, it was a whole brick o' brie in it. Just...too much. I think it would have been perfect with like, half of it. Again, I can't believe I'm complaining about generosity, but there you have it. Hey Luna, trying to save y'all some resources (or something). Otherwise, things were delicious, as expected. Their water container, which I guess has an intricate filtration system, takes a LONG time to filter water after it's filled.
