I come in all the time & all the girls are always so friendly and helpful! The food is amazing and their matcha is delicious!

The coffee shop was highly recommended by our Airbnb hosts with a gift card given for it as well! Stopped by Sunday morning around 11am. It's located in a small plaza but parking was easy to find. First entering there r alot of food goodies sold including take away sides/meals. Looks crowded but no one ordering. There was an influx of people past 11am but the line moves so fast! I asked what was their most popular breakfast sandwich and the dyed red haired girl at the cash register said the turkey club sandwich. I dont like bacon so she suggested they remove that and sub avocado so i went with it! And also got the matcha hot with oatmilk. Partner ordered tuna melt and drip coffee. They give u a buzzer tho they ended up delivering it to our table. The cashier was really nice and entertained all my questions about the sandwiches and how they prepared their matcha. (It's not the matcha powder with the sugar already in it, whew! It tasted pretty ceremonial but not sure if it was- added one pack of sugar and sweetness was perfect for me. Just a tad grainy but overall very nice!) Sandwiches were delivered to where we were sitting after 10-15 mins or so. They are huge! And wow i dont normally order sandwiches these days bc i find the meats questionable and not pleasant to eat but this sandwich tasted so fresh. The meat and cheese.. the veggies.. the sourdough bread was cherry in top, nicely toasted with some butter or sauce. I took a half home and it was still tasted good a few hours later. I like how they add chips and the avocado on the side where i can dip the chips and put on my sandwich. My sandwich tasted so fresh with quality ingredients which im so happy about! My partner also enjoyed his tuna melt and coffee.. he said it was huge as each side of the tuna melt had a huge scoop of the tuna salad. My family and I Came here two days in a row, the weekend after 4th of July 1st day: no coffee just breakfast items: the breakfast sandwich with bacon, eggs and avocado was bomb.com. Like 10/10 would recommend. Need that again and again. My son had the açaí bowl, that was good too. 2nd day: 2 coffees, a strawberry matcha and lemonade. My kids loved the matcha and the lemonade. My husband and I's coffee was all wrong. We ordered Carmel lattes hot. We received an iced Carmel latte and a vanilla latte iced. We didn't make a fuss, we just took what we didn't order and my husband actually ordered the coffee he wanted and paid again. It's a small business and we support small businesses. My honest issue was the barista with the green shirt making the coffee. I'm not sure if her face is always flat or if it was just our family but both days she was so flat and had that ok hurry up and take this stuff and go face. Like annoyed face. We were kind, my kids weren't rude or anything. The other staff seemed kind though. What bothered me was in the second day when the coffees were made wrong, no one offered to remake them for free. Or apologize for the mistakes. We don't live in JT and I don't hate the place. I would come back for breakfast items for sure, shouts out to the chefs in the kitchen. Very cute cafe with a variety of unique grocery items and cafe items. It was a quick stop for me so I got an açaí bowl which was very nutty and refreshing. The fruits were fresh and the nuts were abundant. Service was quick for a busy summer weekday. Price point on the higher side but would come back to try other items and maybe have a sit down breakfast one day. read more

This is the takeaway shop and down the block is a cafe. It was closed but I was surprised to find such delicious food. I enjoyed a Buddha bowl with chicken, sweet potatoes, salad and a tahini dressing. It was delicious! My son had a pesto breakfast sandwich, he loved! The folks who worked there seemed very genuine and thoughtful checking in and making sure we had what we needed. I was shocked to find such a cool and natural place in a small town, especially living near Seattle, I don't expect to find this type of place. Will go there again if I get the chance read more

We stayed in Joshua tree for two day and came here both days!! Love this spot! Got the granola bowl and it was super yummy with fresh fruit! We also got the pastrami sandwich and my friend said it was an all time top 3 sandwich! The pretzel bread really makes it unique and yummy. Got the acai bowl on the second day and it was sooooo good. Their acai was especially fresh and flavorful and thick. Not sure how they do it! Highly recommend! The inside is also super cute and has lots of fun and unique snacks like tin fish and unique chocolates! Wish I went earlier so that I could try their cinnamon roll! My friends and I had a great meal at The DEZ before heading into Joshua Tree. The place is busy, understandably so, since the town is small, there's not so many places to go, and there are a lot of park tourists passing through. However, seating was open, and it was comfortable and had a good vibe. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, lox bagel, lamb pie, quiche, and coffee. Everything was really good, but the breakfast sandwich I had was delectable. The thick-cut bacon was juicy and the eggs were perfectly cooked. The lamb pie was really tasty as well, and had a great aromatic rosemary flavor. It's a bit pricey, but that's standard for Joshua Tree, since so many people from LA and San Diego are passing through. The staff are friendly, on top of stuff, and easygoing. My husband and I got breakfast here before a day at Joshua tree national park and we were full for hours! We got a beef Australian meat pie to share along with the smoked salmon toast. We ended up waiting in line again for another meat pie because we loved it so much! The place does get packed so try to get there early. There is very limited seating so you may need to quickly grab a table once a party leaves. read more

There are a lot more places to eat in Joshua Tree than ever before. This is the café version of the takeout shop just steps away. Sizable menu with big salads, burgers sandwiches plus lots of market goodies. We came here for lunch with several people on limited diets and were able to find delicious dishes for everyone. Plus, there's a takeout case with sweet and savory goodies, as well as a market with many organic and healthy products. A great place to stop for lunch on your way to or from Joshua Tree National Park. read more

Had to have my coffee! And the Dez was the place to satisfy my needs. I grabbed a caramel iced latte with oat and it was tasty and strong. My daughter was soo happy to see they had her favorite: pina colada! She loved it! The girls working the counter were very sweet as well. When I asked for help choosing a Vegan sandwich, the response was vague and unhelpful, claiming only vegetarian and couldn't make it vegan. Ordered a lavender matcha. It was chalky and gross. I don't know what I did to offend this person (short, dark, curly hair) but she has it out for me. Went on Sunday morning and I ordered a coffee with room, it was too full so I poured some out into the trashcan. This woman looks over and says "um we could have poured that out for you" I said "all good" and she said "right but you just poured liquid into a trashcan" and I said "because I asked for room" she asked someone to dump it out. Then she made another comment that I shouldn't have done that. I apologized but she was clearly annoyed and shammed me. A gentleman next to me received his coffee hot and he asked for it to be iced. He said I gave you guys a 20% tip and you're not delivering it right and now you're giving this young woman attitude. They went off on him saying "it's really not a big deal sir!" So then we go today, we make a large order and included a charcuterie board, the same woman informed me that it would take about 45 mins for it to be made and I simply said "no thank you then, all good" and she said "just so you know you could have placed the order online and it would have been ready." But with attitude. And I said "got it". Then my family is sitting and I realize it's taking quite sometime which is understandable due to the amount of food we ordered. I didn't want to take up tables so I gave up our tables for other patrons. I started shuttling my kids to my husband as we reentering the restaurant the short woman swung the door open right into my face. So f-ing rude. It's Sunday, Mother's Day, May 11, 2025. I stopped into the DEZ to buy a turkey sandwich. I ordered the sandwich without bacon and cheese and substituted avocado. I also asked for mayonnaise and mustard. It was takeout so I didn't have a chance to check the sandwich at the café. When I arrived home and opened my sandwich, I was disappointed. There was no avocado, no mayonnaise, a small container of mustard. The bread was stale and hard, the sandwich was filled with lettuce with only two slices of substandard, turkey and tomato. What a scam! $16 for a sandwich that I can buy at Stater Brothers for $6.99. stater Brothers makes great sandwiches. I really tried to shop local, but I'm gonna have to put this place on hold. The café is very cute and small but very popular so the waiting time is pretty long for something you want to eat on the go. They have a variety of choices and a little store inside but with the amount of people in there, it's pretty hard to look around and you feel rushed. We ordered two drinks and two sandwiches but only got one sandwich and the wrong drink. I did not even had the time to check our order with the amount of people in the store. The tuna melt was really really good though and the strawberry matcha was surprisingly not too sweet, I would recommend it! read more

I've had such wonderful experiences here with the food and staff every time. The desserts are dreamy and amazing (not crazy sweet) and they taste homemade in a good way. Their mocha coffee is delicious and taste way better than mainstream coffee shops. All the lunch foods I've had, I've been happy with and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. I feel bad for the other reviewer having a bad experience because it's been the opposite for me. I'd say, try it out for yourself and make up your own mind. I know they're not organic (that I know of), but it's high quality food. I can tell because I'm a foodie and it's real food, not processed junk. read more

Hidden gem! Really wish we had one in La Quinta! Old town LQ could definitely use a place like this. I got the chickpea sandwich, it was delicious. I also got a berry smoothie, so yummy. And I also got two chocolate chip cookies. I am very picky about my ccc, and these were great! I will definitely be back next time in the hi-desert.
