We ended up visiting this place twice during our trip because the first time left everyone so impressed with the food. The space itself is small and simple -not fancy but the staff is incredibly personable and welcoming. The food is outstanding. We especially loved the kibbeh and it was a clear crowd favorite. On our first visit, we ordered takeout and got a combo platter, which was so generous that it easily fed all six of us.On the day we were leaving, we decided to come back for lunch, and the experience was just as good. We were a bit disappointed that the kibbeh was sold out the second time, but everything else we ordered was excellent, and the portion sizes remained very generous. Delicious middle-eastern dishes here! First stop on the way to Joshua Tree dint disappoint. The interior is like a cozy diner with lots of red booths and wooden decor. The service was good, and everything on the menu looked great. I ended up splitting the massive chicken plate with a friend which came with hummus, salad, and chicken and rice. There were a few customers already sitting and eating so at first was taken aback but upon further probing they said they were closing an hour early. We enjoyed the food generally (chicken shawarma pita, vegetarian platter though the beef kebab was a bit dry and chewy) and it survived the trip back home well. The pita bread was wrapped in a plastic that showed where it was purchased; it was good but not homemade on premises. They sell other various pita wraps and platters, around $13 and $25 respectively. They also have some ethnic drinks and Dubai chocolate off to the side. Takeout was probably a good option as the actual ambiance was dated and not that comfortable... not a place to linger. Spectacular. First run, I did the lamb gyro platter. Every item was delicious: the shawarma, the rice, the wam pita, mediterranean salad and the yellow rice. Their tzatziki was perfect. I think their secret is adding fine diced cucumber and mint really elevates the sauce. My wife had the sandwich version and devoured it. Service was friendly and fast. Found this place when searching for vegetarian food when visiting Joshua. This was the only Mediterranean joint we could find and it had good reviews. The place was quiet with enough seating. We were a group of 8 and could find a table immediately for lunch. There were all the usual menu options, nothing that was out of ordinary. Most of us ordered the falafel sandwich. Stopped by here on our first night in Joshua Tree and was pleasantly surprised! We are big Mediterranean food fans and thoroughly enjoyed our $49 meal for 2! For the price, the portions are large and enough for seconds. The service is a bit slow but the staff are really nice. Stopped in to Yucca Kabob for a late lunch. While this restaurant is not much to look at from the outside, the flavors are incredible and worth a stop. We were the only ones in the restaurant at first but that changed quickly after we ordered. We ordered the grape leaves appetizer, I had the Kofta Kabob wrap, and my fiancé had the beef kabob entree. Amazing grape leaves! We could have eaten another round of them. My wrap was delicious and very filling. The Beef Kabob entree was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the rice was out of this world. I suspect many of the positive reviews are not genuine--we relied on them and ended up having one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. The service was extremely poor. Instead of being attended to, we found ourselves constantly trying to track down the staff, who would disappear into the kitchen and be nowhere to be found. We ordered the family platter with three types of kabobs, and most of them were overcooked and burnt. When I brought this to our server's attention, he simply shrugged it off without offering an apology or any attempt to fix the issue. Honestly, the experience lived up more to "yucky kabob" than anything else. I'd recommend avoiding this place--you'll be glad you did. read more

Got an order of chicken shawarma plate and fries and brought it to picnic in Joshua tree - so good! Fries are well seasoned, the plate had lots of flavor and well balanced for all the food groups. Solid place to get delicious authentic Arabic food! Stopped in after visiting Joshua Tree. The waiter was a young guy with curly hair who was very polite and friendly. The ambiance is clean, understated, quiet, and unassuming in a retail plaza. I noticed it was very busy with online orders and foot traffic during the dinner hour. A hidden gem! We are tired of fast food, the typical burgers & fries, pizza etc. So we decided to give this place a try. Glad we did! I will say it's a bit costly but it's worth it. We got a family meal of 4 but easily fed 6 adults and 2 kids. We did add a tzatziki sauce/dip on the side. Every single item was delicious! Literally every.single.item. Although of the 3 meats, the chicken was the best. Second, was the kofta then the beef kabobs. Due to tenderness but flavors were good on all. Their fatoush salad was delicious and very refreshing too!! Hummus was generic and the baba ghanoush was one of the top few i had. Service was great but was not fond of the forceful automatic tipping. 18% for up to 6ppl and over 6 is automatic 20%. Luckily, service was great and they are deserving of it but just was never fond of it being done automatically before the services are even rendered. Just doesn't make sense. Good chicken kabob. We shared an entree and was plenty of food for two. The chicken was well flavored and moist. Rice and salad on the plate were tasty. Hummus just ok. They only gave us a few small pieces of pita, could be more generous. It was really hot inside, not sure I would go back unless the weather was cooler. Sort of bleak interior but it's quite clean. The service was a bit weird and mildly unpleasant, but I have been told the family that runs it is nice. Our marriage officiant recommended this as a quick takeout spot for the first night we were in Joshua Tree before our elopement. She said it was good but nothing super special, but honestly, we disagree. It was definitely GREAT and something very special in my opinion! Based off the positive reviews and my strong urge to satisfy my cravings for Mediterranean food, I was excited to give this place a try. Sad to say that this places wasn't as good as I expected it to be. First of all, I have to comment on the price. I got the chicken plate and it was $21. One of the people in my group got the combo with all the meats and that one was $31. Maybe it's because we are in a touristy area, but I expect the food to taste amazing when it's that price. The chicken in the plate was extremely dry. Not tender at all. Some of them were really hard to chew. The whole dish was also very salty. Left me super thirsty after eating it. The positive things about this dish was the hummus and the veggies, but that is not supposed to be the main star of the dish. Also, the pita bread that came with the plate was not toasted at all and it came in a bag from the store they bought the pita from. The bag was also open and had 4 pitas inside. The exact amount of pitas to plates that we got. Beware: they accept both cash and card, but they charge you an extra 3% for the use of card no matter the amount. It is actually illegal to surcharge credit card transactions. Maybe they are unaware of the recent change in laws, but hopefully they see this review and change it before more people get charged. read more

Delicious middle eastern food in a desert boom town. Love this place and always visit when we're in town. It's a family-owned business and we're always greeted warmly by the kids who run the front. The food is excellent and very authentic. The tzatziki sauce is ultra creamy and slightly tangy with a hint of mint that really brings it to life. The hummus is very creamy as well and slightly nutty. Both come with delicious pita that's warm when it hits your table. Meat quality is exceptional from chicken, beef, to gyros (beef & lamb mixture). Each is tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Entrees are extremely generous and come with fresh fattoush salad, rice, hummus, and pita. Gorgeous desert views from every window but if you're ordering out they pack everything up very well. The salads were really good, dressing was tasty and had just the right amount of dressing. The humus was a bit too lemony for me. The Baba ghanoush was excellent, smoked perfectly. This is the most legit Jordanian food I have had in a long time, and so surprised to find it in Yucca Valley. I've eaten a lot of Mediterranean food all over Orange County, but this is the best hummus I can remember eating. Absolutely delicious. My BF raved over the chicken kabob, the way it was seasoned and grilled. The beef kabob was just as good, tender and juicy.
