They just recently opened, and you can tell they're still getting into their rhythm, but they're doing a great job so far. I ordered the brisket and the beef wonton tacos just to try them out, and they were really yummy! There was a little bit of a wait, but it honestly wasn't bad at all. They even gave me a free donut for waiting, which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. I'll definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu.

We ordered: +a slice of banana bread - this was wet and soggy, so not sure how this is even available for sale +a slice of carrot cake - this was extremely dense and decadent, and good for any carrot cake lover +an oatmeal cookie - large and had a nice crisp/chewy texture +a chive scone - super dried out and had absolutely no flavor +a hibiscus drink - super weird beverage; not sure if it was mixed with something, but it was not enjoyable +and, a milk tea - this milk tea was not prepared well; contained some pearls I was curious about their sandwiches and their pizzas, but the latter is only sold as a whole, and not by the slice. All in all, we felt that the items were misses; not worth waiting it out unless you are spending a few days in the area or are a local. It was delicious. It was a banh mi sandwich that is not just one of those, "It's good for a small town," but really genuinely good and well-prepared. The sandwich was about $13, if memory serves. Whatever sauce they had on it was also delicious, and the sandwich was filling. The restaurant is a very large, airy, comfortable space in back of Rite Aid and Aldi, and is a pleasant space. The place also has coffee, bagels, croissants, bagel sandwiches, poke, and pho, along with numerous kinds of tea (milk tea, Thai tea, Matcha tea). The pho and bagels I saw other people eating looked delicious. The people who worked there were very friendly.

I can't say enough good things about this place!…read more My husband and I went out to Joshua Tree for my birthday weekend and this was a last minute find for a birthday dinner. I'm so happy we found this gem. Make sure to have reservations, as the night progressed I realized how popular it is and for good reason. The ambience is amazing at night when the lights are on it has a beautiful atmosphere. They curate everything perfectly. Our waiter was so kind, very knowledgeable on everything we ordered and shared that the chef was Jamaican which was such a neat surprise. The drinks were strong and still delicious. We ordered Brussel sprouts, broccolini, Jerk Chicken and Chimichurri Steak. Everything was incredible. If you're ever in the area I highly recommend for an unforgettable meal and experience. Will definitely return even if it's not on my birthday!

Went to dinner two nights ago and honestly, I'm still kind of shocked at the level of hospitality…read more We were only about 10 minutes late--and it was a Tuesday, not exactly peak rush. I walked up first with my sister and mom right behind me, immediately apologizing and saying hello to who I assume was the host... or maybe a manager? It genuinely wasn't clear. I explained that I had tried calling, got no answer, and followed the instructions to text the number provided saying we were on the way. When I brought that up, my sister stepped forward to show the text, and the response we got was, "What am I looking at?"--said in a way that felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. It was literally just the message we were told to send. Then we were told they don't even receive texts and that it goes to "headquarters"... for a small restaurant? That alone was bizarre and off-putting. We were seated, and from there the service stayed pretty mediocre. I had noted in the reservation that we were celebrating my sister's birthday, which was completely ignored the entire night. For context, we were only in Joshua Tree for three days--we were visiting from Portland--and this is a place we usually make a point to come to. So yes, expectations were higher because this was supposed to be a special dinner. The food itself didn't help. Our chicken came out with an extremely spicy sauce underneath that completely overpowered the dish. It was so intense we were literally turning red. We mentioned it to the server, and nothing was done or offered--no acknowledgment beyond that. What really stood out was the timing of everything. The server didn't check on us until we had already eaten about 80% of the meal, which made it pointless to even give feedback at that stage. By the time we were finished and had been sitting for a while, we couldn't even find him. Then suddenly he appeared to ask if we wanted dessert... well after we were clearly done. Still, no mention of the birthday, no effort to make the moment feel even slightly special. On top of that, it was freezing outside. The table next to us was given blankets, but none were offered to us--even though we were sitting there in tank tops. At one point, the same host who had been rude earlier was folding blankets right in front of us without saying a word, which honestly just added to the uncomfortable feeling. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience, especially for one of our first nights back in town. It kind of set the tone in the worst way and brought everything back to that initial interaction at the door. There really wasn't an excuse for it either--the restaurant looked nearly empty, even around 6:20. Save your time and go to Pioneer Town.

I am staying at the nearby High Desert Motel for about 13 days, and since I arrived in Joshua Tree…read morea few days ago, I have visited this store at least once or twice per day, at the very least, to procure essentials such as rolls of paper towels, one gallon jugs of spring water, containers of rice pudding and flan, frozen burritos, and other food items. Interestingly, this shop also sells fresh watermelons, a great rarity at this time of year, and, in fact, it is the only venue in Joshua Tree at which I have seen watermelons for sale -- and I have definitely NOT seen watermelons offered at any other store, nor even at the natural foods store, nor at the Saturday morning farmer's market! BTW, the prices at this shop for the types of items that I mentioned above are very fair and reasonable for the fact that this is a small grocery store in a small desert town. I should also mention that each of the staffers at the counter with whom I have dealt have always been friendly and helpful. I must note that a number of other reviewers have mentioned the store's offerings of bottled liquor and its great assortment of craft and artisan beers, but I simply cannot comment on any of those offerings, since I do not drink alcohol (it is not a moralistic thing; it just does not interest me...!). So, my review is probably one of the very few reviews here that do NOT rave about the liquor products and craft and artisan beer products sold here! You will just have to get over that fact! Finally, I should also mention that when I visit this store, I am often accompanied by colleagues and clients who are also temporarily visiting the town, and they have all told me that they are very impressed by the range of offerings in this shop!

Absolutely terrible customer service tonight…read more I've been coming to this market for years and have spent plenty of money here, but after tonight I seriously question why. Around 7 PM on May 14, 2026, the woman working the register couldn't even do the bare minimum of acknowledging a customer. After buying a beer from HER register, I asked twice for a bag because my hands were full and I was trying to safely hold my son's hand in the parking lot. She completely ignored me both times and went right back to staring at her phone like customers who spend money were an inconvenience. Not even a "sorry," not even a "we don't have bags." Just rude, lazy, dismissive behavior. Meanwhile the parking lot right outside the door is a mess with people whipping into parking spaces, and I'm standing there trying to carry everything while making sure my son doesn't get hit by a car. The lack of basic awareness or decency was unbelievable. If this is the kind of customer service this place now allows, longtime customers clearly don't matter anymore. Management should probably spend less time letting employees play on their phones and more time teaching basic respect and professionalism.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS…read more Rating: 0/5 (Negative stars if physics allowed it) If you have any self-respect, do not set foot in this establishment. Calling this place a "restaurant" is an insult to the hospitality industry; it is a chaotic, incompetent holding cell where hunger goes to die. We were held hostage at our table for over an hour and a half waiting for food. 90 minutes. We watched other tables stand up and flee--literally walking out the door--because the kitchen is apparently run by sloths. Did the staff care? Absolutely not. They wandered around with a level of apathy that was genuinely disturbing, rude, and completely useless. Then came the punchline: THEY RAN OUT OF PLATES. Let that sink in. A restaurant. That ran out of plates. Their excuse? "They are in the dishwasher for the next 30 minutes." We have four starving children with us, and instead of solving the problem, we were forced to get up, walk to the counter, and fetch our own flimsy paper plates like we were at a sad, underfunded backyard picnic. To top off the insult, they handed us a roll of industrial paper towels instead of napkins. It was pathetic. When the torture finally ended, it took another 25 minutes just to get the bill so we could escape. When we asked the staff to explain this disaster, the only response we got was a shrug and a "What can I do?" Here is what you can do: Close the doors. Sell the building. Spare the public. The only reason I didn't call the police for robbery is that they didn't charge the automatic gratuity--probably because they knew we were on the verge of a riot. This place is a joke. The service is nonexistent, the management is invisible, and the experience was nauseating. If you value your time, money, and sanity, run far, far away.
