They just recently opened, and you can tell they're still getting into their rhythm, but they're doing a great job so far. I ordered the brisket and the beef wonton tacos just to try them out, and they were really yummy! There was a little bit of a wait, but it honestly wasn't bad at all. They even gave me a free donut for waiting, which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. I'll definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu.

We ordered: +a slice of banana bread - this was wet and soggy, so not sure how this is even available for sale +a slice of carrot cake - this was extremely dense and decadent, and good for any carrot cake lover +an oatmeal cookie - large and had a nice crisp/chewy texture +a chive scone - super dried out and had absolutely no flavor +a hibiscus drink - super weird beverage; not sure if it was mixed with something, but it was not enjoyable +and, a milk tea - this milk tea was not prepared well; contained some pearls I was curious about their sandwiches and their pizzas, but the latter is only sold as a whole, and not by the slice. All in all, we felt that the items were misses; not worth waiting it out unless you are spending a few days in the area or are a local. Note that there's usually a line, moving along at a slow and steady pace, and they allow only 1 party in at a time. There is no seating inside, as this is strictly carry-out only. It was delicious. It was a banh mi sandwich that is not just one of those, "It's good for a small town," but really genuinely good and well-prepared. The sandwich was about $13, if memory serves. Whatever sauce they had on it was also delicious, and the sandwich was filling. The restaurant is a very large, airy, comfortable space in back of Rite Aid and Aldi, and is a pleasant space. The place also has coffee, bagels, croissants, bagel sandwiches, poke, and pho, along with numerous kinds of tea (milk tea, Thai tea, Matcha tea). The pho and bagels I saw other people eating looked delicious. The people who worked there were very friendly.

They also forgot the bag of bean sprouts/lime/cilantro/jalapeños for the second bowl of pho. But, with only two pho spots in the high desert, can beggars be choosers? Might have to meet up with friends here sometime for random hangs without having to cook. They also get a star for the nice lady working the register.

When you sit you already have small plates and things at the table which makes sense for indoors but with the desert setting there was sand everywhere. The tables were also covered in sand which obviously isn't their fault but you would think it would be wiped and set before seating. The fresh drinks were imo the best part by far. They were so delicious and like I said very fresh. The kale salad was alright not really much flavor and weirdly soggy. The beet salad was incredible but definitely NOT enough to share considering everything is served family style (and especially with the price). Burger was alright, my sister had this and said "nothing stood out". Again not enough to be considered "family style". With everything being $30-$40 with recommended 4-5 plates per table with family style I would assume they would actually be shareable sizes. Service was good. Our waitress was amazing and so knowledgeable about the menu. The only thing is there was an older woman as hostess who was kind of just there? She said hi and got to the point but no one said bye or have a good night when we were leaving other than our waitress.

A very cordial, pleasant, and kind young lady working there just the other day. A surprisingly lovely glazed donut I might say. But I kept looking around there thinking "in a small town like this how can they even sell enough donuts to keep this joint open but they obviously do". I could think of some simple things that could be added, but I wouldn't want to give away my secrets. All throughout the United States there are donut shops that have the same recipe apparently, not sure how that works? A lot of them are Asian run in the San Francisco area. I always laughed at the signs that would say "Donuts and Chinese Food" before walking in I would always say to myself: "Nothing like a good egg fu yung jelly doughnut"! Yeah, this spot could use a little more hipness for just spending a few dollars on some paint and artwork, etc. there would probably be a line more often. I don't know. I wasn't there on a weekend. Also, the beautiful new laundromat or remodeled laundromat next-door should really be a good revenue source for the hungry laundry goer....... But certainly grab a doughnut. They're very tasty. So keep heading up the road a bit to Joshua Tree as there are many cute little shops in the three block area there which I guess is called downtown Joshua Tree? I really dig all the new modern prefabs that are popping up which appeared to be primarily Airbnb joints(?)- a lot of style man! Yeah, I'll be back. I met some really cool people in that couple of blocks. If you haven't been there then hop in your car and drive up there right now and get yourself a nice little jelly doughnut...... "Thank ya. Thank ya very much".

Some thought and about 15k could offer much needed updates. Don't change your cashier though, she was wonderful.

Absolutely terrible customer service tonight…read more I've been coming to this market for years and have spent plenty of money here, but after tonight I seriously question why. Around 7 PM on May 14, 2026, the woman working the register couldn't even do the bare minimum of acknowledging a customer. After buying a beer from HER register, I asked twice for a bag because my hands were full and I was trying to safely hold my son's hand in the parking lot. She completely ignored me both times and went right back to staring at her phone like customers who spend money were an inconvenience. Not even a "sorry," not even a "we don't have bags." Just rude, lazy, dismissive behavior. Meanwhile the parking lot right outside the door is a mess with people whipping into parking spaces, and I'm standing there trying to carry everything while making sure my son doesn't get hit by a car. The lack of basic awareness or decency was unbelievable. If this is the kind of customer service this place now allows, longtime customers clearly don't matter anymore. Management should probably spend less time letting employees play on their phones and more time teaching basic respect and professionalism.

We missed our reservation time but decided to try a walk in because it was the whole reason we came into town in the first place. We were greeted by two really nice hosts who assured us there was room for us sooner than later and we were seated with our dog on the patio pretty quickly. They were so nice to us and doubly nice to our dog! We ordered fried eggplant, gazpacho, ceviche, a lamb burger, and got a lamb burger patty for the dog (we're not order food for the dog people but she was going through it too with the Walmart stuff so why not). We added a couple glasses of wine and their beer shandy and finished with a strawberry shortcake. Every bite was perfect but we rated them- Gazpacho, Lamb Burger, Eggplant, Ceviche. The gazpacho was a hit with the perfect amount of fresh/sweet cantaloupe and spicy-ness. This place was well worth the trip from Big Bear. My wife noted that everyone there that helped us legit looked happy to be there. There was also a medical emergency and the staff was so kind and helpful throughout and checked in on all the tables in the area afterwards. It kind of showed that they are invested in the people that visit.

We got really lucky - reservations open a month in advance, and we were headed to Joshua Tree the next day. I thought for sure I wasn't going to get a reservation and needed to think of a Plan B for date night. But I texted anyway, with an apology for it being so last minute, and they responded the day of confirming me for the next day! Yay! When we arrived, we asked for a seat inside, since it was super windy that day, and they were able to seat us within a few minutes. We got the butter lettuce salad (delicious), the socarrat (lots of peas and pea sprouts - this was AMAZING, and great the next day cold!), their version of bruschetta on their crispy thin bread - the bread was absolutely amazing. And we also got the tomato...um, I can't remember what it's called, but it has a base of sliced tomatoes, with hard boiled eggs, celery, and tuna aioli! Super refreshing on a super hot day. We also got a couple non-alcky drinks and left very happy. It was loud inside for sure - or, bustling, if we want to be more euphemistic. Service for us was a bit on the chilly side, but that might just be the night our server was having. There are 2 single-stalled bathrooms, and parking is very easy in the huge lot they have. I think we might circle back to this place after trying other eats around the area. This was a good time.
