Skip this place if you can. I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews and I'm sorry to say that this was one of the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. With an empty restaurant I had to wait to be seated. No towels in the restroom, the "Bloody Mary" I ordered was tomato juice, had to ask twice for a straw and when I asked for a side of horseradish it took 10 mins and was a cream mixture? Then they said they forgot to put in my food order at this point had I of known I would have paid for my drink and left then. But to wait over 30 mins for eggs and soft hash browns is sad. Food came and my friend said his French toast was good so there's that but my gravy lacked flavor and seasoning. From the moment we walked in, we could tell that the place is extremely clean. The western decor is also lots of fun. But, most importantly, the breakfast we ordered was delicious! Thought I'd give everyone an updated menu. The staff is super nice and helped me choose between two omelettes. This is more of a local chill place and it's was perfectly lively on the Sunday morning we went. We got: Wet breakfast burrito -- average breakfast burrito but the ranchero sauce made it above average. Breakfast burger -- came out piping hot, very good texture, tasted good. The great omelette -- really great, the feta was a nice touch and it came with potatoes and toast and generous with the vegetables. Machaca and eggs -- replaced potatoes/hashbrowns with fruit. "It was good. Fruit was really good. Well fried tortillas - highlight of the dish." Someone else mentioned the women's bathroom missing a seat on one of the toilets and it's still missing... thought I would mention this. Great breakfast spot! We've been here a few times and the service is consistently great. Usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning when they're a little busier. But the waitresses are always friendly, and attentive. Our favorite is the country fried steak! The only reason for 4 stars is the inconsistent portions. Sigh, where do I begin. Got sat quickly and that was pretty much the only good part of our experience. The woman who took my order wasn't even really all there. We got in and sat around 1240 and had waited a staggering 50 minutes without any food nor anyone coming to check in on us and see if we were doing alright. We were sat pretty quickly I would say less than 10 minutes - which was great and off to a good start. Ordered a mushroom burger, and chipotle burger... so flavorless. Paid extra for garlic fries but they just looked like freezer fries with some fresh garlic in the middle. Very disappointed, we received our food close to 1.5 hours after we ordered. The kind of place that makes you question why diners ever became a beloved staple in the first place. The illusion of a western diner falls apart as soon as you walk in the door. The eggs were somehow overcooked and cold at the same time. Even the coffee which should be the reliable was lukewarm and bitter. Staying at the Yucca Valley Elk's Lodge and while there are a couple higher rated breakfast places nearby, this was not only close but had an excellent country fried steak! Our server Jenny was very nice with timely service. The place is clean with a nice atmosphere. The steak was definitely made from scratch, tender, and tasty. Good eggs and hash browns too! This rude waitress who serviced us BURNT toast with no apology. 1 hour and a half wait for our food. Waitress in pic knew the toast was burnt and still put it in front of me. Visited Joshua Tree for the weekend, saw this place on Google Maps. Was not disappointed with it at all! Amazing food. I got the orange juice which is freshly squeezed, YUM!! Their menu has lots of options to choose from, I ended up getting the French toast with eggs and bacon. It smelled so good and tasted great! Right off the bat, service was amazing. The waiters were quick to attend and very friendly. For it being called the Western Diner, the inside was filled with western decorations and drawings, even had old western cowboy movies playing. It was a Friday morning, and we noticed that they offer free coffee to 55+ (M-F, for cash-paying customers), so the hubby took advantage of that. I got their Ortega chile omelette with hash browns and wheat toast, and the hubby got scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a side of cottage cheese. This time, when I asked for hash browns extra crispy, I got it, and they were awesome. The green chile omelette was chock-full of green chiles, sour cream, and cottage cheese--yum. The friendly, efficient servers kept those coffee refills coming and the prices were as reasonable as we remembered them. This is a solid, old-school diner popular with the local seniors--a hipster joint this most definitely ain't. I ordered pancakes in lieu of the bread slices. They were so good. Good size pancakes, berries and condensed milk were a nice touch. Pancakes are fluffy and melted in my mouth. Would come back. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Not a long wait at all. They let us sit wherever we wanted. The only con was that the restrooms needed a little work. Being a chicken fried steak and biscuits & gravy connoisseur, I got their famous chicken fried steak breakfast and it was fantastic. Their country gravy was OUTSTANDING, which is something I rarely say - but this one deserves it! It's some of the best tasting gravy I've had! The chicken fried steak was wonderful and the crispy hash browns were top notch as well and wonderfully flavorful. Oh wow this breakfast spot was so good! We stopped by as our weekend getaway was coming to an end Sunday morning. Found on yelp, and I'm glad we ended up here after a few failed attempts. We did not have a wait time for 2, quickly seated. The service was amazing, the staff were friendly. But the food was a different story! I got an omelette, with a side of pancakes. I'm a Stickler for pancakes, and these were on par with IHOP's, flavor wise. Since they came as a side for the omelette, the pancakes came more in a mini size :( but in the future I know to make the pancakes the main meal!!!!
