    Country fried steak, country potatoes

Great breakfast spot! We've been here a few times and the service is consistently great. Usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning when they're a little busier. But the waitresses are always friendly, and attentive. Our favorite is the country fried steak! The only reason for 4 stars is the inconsistent portions. However, the food is always fresh and delicious. The inside is always clean. 90s country playing for a good vibe.

    Chili Relleno Omelette

Chili Relleno omelette is one of the best I have ever had. The ranch ranchero is so delicious. A prefect amount of spicy with balanced flavors. A must if you're here. Service was great. Definitely coming back when we are in the area.

Thought I'd give everyone an updated menu. The staff is super nice and helped me choose between two omelettes. This is more of a local chill place and it's was perfectly lively on the Sunday morning we went. We got: Wet breakfast burrito -- average breakfast burrito but the ranchero sauce made it above average. Breakfast burger -- came out piping hot, very good texture, tasted good. The great omelette -- really great, the feta was a nice touch and it came with potatoes and toast and generous with the vegetables. Machaca and eggs -- replaced potatoes/hashbrowns with fruit. "It was good. Fruit was really good. Well fried tortillas - highlight of the dish." Someone else mentioned the women's bathroom missing a seat on one of the toilets and it's still missing... thought I would mention this. Overall great restaurant, prices were reasonable and would come back if I were a local.

Super rude waitress, was only nice to us when she gave us the check!!

This rude waitress who serviced us BURNT toast with no apology. 1 hour and a half wait for our food. Waitress in pic knew the toast was burnt and still put it in front of me. When I asked her if I can have toast that's not burnt she said yes and she didn't even bother to go back and tell the kitchen like hey guys this toast is hella burnt!! Besides this waitress the other employees were friendly and kind but come on would you really give that to a hungry customer?

TNT burger: one of the best burgers I've ever had!!!! Classic diner coffee, good vibes, wish I could've tried more of the food, everything looked and smelled amazing! Friendly staff! Strongly recommend!!

Visited Joshua Tree for the weekend, saw this place on Google Maps. Was not disappointed with it at all! Amazing food. I got the orange juice which is freshly squeezed, YUM!! Their menu has lots of options to choose from, I ended up getting the French toast with eggs and bacon. It smelled so good and tasted great! Right off the bat, service was amazing. The waiters were quick to attend and very friendly. For it being called the Western Diner, the inside was filled with western decorations and drawings, even had old western cowboy movies playing. Definitely a must visit when in the area, will come back for sure!!

Worth a visit! Came here after a weekend nearby & we were so happy! Food was SO good and SOO affordable. We were so full and happy afterwards! Our server was very polite and let us take our time. The ambiance is definitely "old cowboy" style and cute. Looks like many locals come here to read the newspaper and have coffee!!! Felt like such a cute small time diner. We will definitely come again!!!! Has everything from breakfast, burgers, teas, milkshakes, salads, soups, and burritos!

    Turkey eggs Benedict

I went on Thanksgiving last year and had turkey Eggs Benedict . They had four different choices all with turkey. I like the wine there too. Service was great too!

Cute little diner. Ordered the egg white veggie omelet. They were not stingy with the veggies. Hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered pancakes in lieu of the bread slices. They were so good. Good size pancakes, berries and condensed milk were a nice touch. Pancakes are fluffy and melted in my mouth. Would come back. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Not a long wait at all. They let us sit wherever we wanted. The only con was that the restrooms needed a little work. One of the toilets didn't have a seat and there was water leaking from the sink and they placed a bucket underneath.

The chorizo omelette was delicious. Best chorizo I've had in a long time - very flavorful and not overly greasy. Yum.

My wife, her mom, and I intentionally stopped into this one in Yucca Valley as we were heading to Joshua Tree, and found the portions (value) and service to be really good. The hostess directed us to a comfortable booth, where soon our friendly server, Jessica, came right over to give us water and time to peruse the newsprint menu. The last time I was at a Black Bear, had determined to try one of their hungry bear dinner entrees. Portions are large, so knew to only order two entrees (since bringing home leftovers was not an option). We wanted to share everything, and Jessica brought out an extra plate without us even asking. Refillable fountain Pepsi was $3.99, with the rest of us being fine with water. The 4-piece homestyle fried chicken ($22.99) was half a chicken, with a very crunchy, non-greasy coating. The meat was juicy. It came with OK fries and a switched out side salad (very large for a side salad, using very fresh vegetables), instead of coleslaw (which still ended up coming out, and was enjoyed). It's a very large meal for one person, and good for the three of us. The Full Course Bear's Dinner of Slow-Cooked Pot Roast ($21.59) comes with a choice of soup or salad and two additional sides (onion rings and mashed potatoes in my case). Soup of the day was potato bacon, and it tasted good: thick with chunks of potato and real pieces of bacon. The pot roast was very tender (close to being mealy), and the brown gravy was very heavy (ended up being a great dip for the fried chicken). The onion rings were excellent, with the mashed potatoes being very hearty. All of it was prepared from frozen, so had a little bit of that frozen dinner quality, but were fine with it since we were sharing a little of everything and it had been prepared well. We had a bit of a drive left, so made sure we used the washrooms which were easy to find and clean. The check is brought to the table, but needs to be brought to the front to pay. It gave me a chance to checkout their dessert/pie display: it's the one thing that doesn't impress when compared to other diners specializing in pies. It's clear that management doesn't expect the staff to nickel/dime everything. For all that we got, there were only three charges on the check. Just makes you feel like you got your money's worth

First of all, there is a reason why everyone says Lola is an awesome waitress - it's because it's true! I was trying to decide between the pastrami burger ($16.99) and the chicken pot pie (also $16.99) and without batting an eye she said if you're hungry go with the pastrami burger. I then wanted to test the waters so I said "Okay, how about if we add the prime rib ($27.99) into the mix?" And she said prime rib is the best. Ultimately I wasn't hungry enough for a prime rib meal so went with the pastrami burger which is a smashburger patty with pile of pastrami, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato's & 1000 island served with choice of fries, onion rings, tots or side salad - and I got tots of course which were just as they should be - fantastic! (Side note: Which ever side you get, be sure to get ranch dressing - it's awesome!) The burger was fantastic. It comes cooked led-well and I like mine medium which they will do by request. Girlfriend got the veggie skillet ($18.99) with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, avocado, spinach, home style potatoes & queso blanco - served with 3 eggs and any style toast but she decided to try peanut butter pancakes ($4 upcharge) and her whole meal was absolutely delicious! My low rating is entirely based on the customer service experience within the first few minutes of arriving. I came in with my dog, fully aware that we would need to sit outside. Since most restaurants still have you check in first, I stood at the podium where there was a sign indicating a server would check in guests. After standing there briefly, an employee asked if we wanted to sit on the patio. I said yes, and he responded by telling us to "go up the ramp." Not even in a friendly manner. Me being me I just wanted to verify that I didn't have to check in as it wasn't just myself, my party we're not all with me ..wanting to make sure I was following the correct process, I politely asked if I didn't need to check in first. His response came across as annoyed, basically repeating that he had already told us to go up the ramp. The interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive and rude. There's a difference between being direct and making guests feel unwelcome. I'm usually not someone who leaves negative reviews over one interaction, but both my husband and brother-in-law also noticed the attitude, as they were close enough to hear and it immediately made us uncomfortable enough to leave. Before leaving, I did take a quick look at the patio area and noticed it was very shaded with leaves scattered around from the wind, which didn't make the outdoor dining setup feel especially inviting either. Overall, this was disappointing because I had chosen this spot to celebrate my 30th birthday and was really looking forward to enjoying a big, delicious pancake. Unfortunately, the experience started off on the wrong foot and we decided not to stay.

Went for breakfast over the weekend, April 2026…read more The place was very busy. We didn't have to wait for a table. We sat at the counter. Ordered an egg salad sandwich with fries and a steak sandwich with fries. It took a long time to come out. My boyfriend ordered his steak medium rare and it came out more like medium well. He also said it had no flavor.. The menu said the steak was ribeye, but it didn't seem to be very flavorful. The egg salad sandwich, this was just awful. It tasted like it had been fermented and was inedible. It was clearly going rancid. I did bring this to their attention and they did offer to get me something else but by then I was feeling a little queasy. To be honest, the waiter was not exactly helpful when I told him that it was not edible. Instead of just saying, I'm really sorry. Could we get you something else? He made a few excuses as well. There's no excuses for serving that. We will not be going back. Very disappointed as this place has been there for a long time and was extremely busy when we got there. But the food was not very good at all.
