The Roost at Hawks Landing Golf Course

Fantastic for a casual breakfast. Massive outdoor patio with a beautiful view of the golf course and the hills behind it. Very inexpensive and nice people working there. My breakfast was a good size portion. I asked for salsa with my eggs. They brought me some delicious homemade salsa. Highly recommend. Very convenient big parking lot and such a pleasant environment. They have a fairly big menu for breakfast and lunch.

We had nearly 20 of us at The Roost tonight for dinner and everything was spot on! The food was fabulous- all fresh, from scratch including the cheesecakes baked on site (how did we not get a photo). Full bar! Great vibes. And the food was delicious. Highly recommend.

It's our first time visiting Joshua Tree. After driving around the park & enjoying the view for almost 4 hours, we decided to have a nice dinner. Not just burger or Fastfood, someplace where we could sit down and enjoy the food. Found The Roost on Yelp & It didn't disappoint!!! We ate outside facing the golf course & a nice view of the mountains. The food was Great!!! We had Caesar's salad, a full slab of ribs that we split (comes with macaroni salad & beans), vanilla cheesecake to cleanse the palate plus the margarita & the beer .... All for only $50!!! Another plus, our server was very nice!!!

Gorgeous spot and amazing Friday night experience. If you go make sure to call ahead and get a reservation. I went in for my 730 reservation on Friday. Showed up at 715 and they were able to seat and serve me right away. If you go Friday you definitely have to get the prime rib dinner for $30. It was a little pricey but so good! My best meal in the area that weekend. They had an amazing singer and guitar playing there, incredible sunset over the course and the service was quick and friendly. I got the key lime cheesecake for dessert which was the best key lime dessert I've had but was expensive for a the tiny piece I got.

Love eating here. Have had lunch and breakfast here quite a few times. Don't normally do dinner, but we finally did last Friday. Prime rib was awesome. Service was pretty good. The owner is a sweetheart and it's always nice to see an owner in an establishment talking to guests. I saw lots of dishes hitting other tables that looked amazing. Guess I'm gonna have to start coming more for dinner to eat through the menu. Definitely be back.

Not fancy, but homespun and comfortable.

We tried their New Years dinner for two and as others have stated, the prime rib was amazing. The facility is very casual, but everything was served at the right temperature and tasted good. Tim, our server, was attentive and kind enough to take a photo of us with my camera and also to pose for a picture to post here. I liked the live music very much, which is remarkable, given that I usually don't care much for what passes for entertainment at this sort of event.

Love this place. The food is amazing and the waitress and bartender are the best!!! Great view of the mountains! My favorite place in Yucca!

Delicious as always! We love coming to The Roost for dinner. It's easily one of the nicest restaurants in town and definitely has the best ambiance. It's beautiful to look out onto the golf course no matter what time of year! We happened to swing by for dinner tonight and we're lucky enough to have Tim as our server. He is always helpful, kind and patient as we try to decide what we want to order! The service was top notch- our cocktails were refreshing on this warm evening and the food delish! The Roost is definitely a hidden gem here in Yucca. Our one request would be that they were open for dinner daily!

Ask the Community - The Roost

Are they open on Thanksgiving evening?

    No, they are not.

Do you have to have golf membership to dine there?

No, we just went in. I think they like outside diners.

The ribs were tender with a nice smoky flavor and came off the bone clean. The tri tip was just as solid, juicy and well seasoned with that classic barbecue taste. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, and the baked beans had a good balance of sweet and savory. The lemonade was cold and refreshing and worked well with the meal. The atmosphere is a big part of the experience. Rustic, lively, and full of character. It feels like a true desert spot with history behind it. The place can get busy, but the staff kept things moving and were friendly throughout. This place loves to its hype. Definitely more than just a meal. I told her I wanted an omelet and two seconds later asked again. The iced coffees were made in a hurry and looked as such and lacked flavor. We got in and sat around 1240 and had waited a staggering 50 minutes without any food nor anyone coming to check in on us and see if we were doing alright. When we finally questioned our order, it was revealed that one of their cooks quit that morning... Long after we were about to leave, she still asked if we can wait 5 minutes more to finish to which finally was the last straw and we walked out. My wife, her mom, and I intentionally stopped into this one in Yucca Valley as we were heading to Joshua Tree, and found the portions (value) and service to be really good. The hostess directed us to a comfortable booth, where soon our friendly server, Jessica, came right over to give us water and time to peruse the newsprint menu. The last time I was at a Black Bear, had determined to try one of their hungry bear dinner entrees. Portions are large, so knew to only order two entrees (since bringing home leftovers was not an option). We wanted to share everything, and Jessica brought out an extra plate without us even asking. Refillable fountain Pepsi was $3.99, with the rest of us being fine with water. The 4-piece homestyle fried chicken ($22.99) was half a chicken, with a very crunchy, non-greasy coating. The meat was juicy. It came with OK fries and a switched out side salad (very large for a side salad, using very fresh vegetables), instead of coleslaw (which still ended up coming out, and was enjoyed). It's a very large meal for one person, and good for the three of us. The Full Course Bear's Dinner of Slow-Cooked Pot Roast ($21.59) comes with a choice of soup or salad and two additional sides (onion rings and mashed potatoes in my case). Soup of the day was potato bacon, and it tasted good: thick with chunks of potato and real pieces of bacon. The pot roast was very tender (close to being mealy), and the brown gravy was very heavy (ended up being a great dip for the fried chicken). The onion rings were excellent, with the mashed potatoes being very hearty. All of it was prepared from frozen, so had a little bit of that frozen dinner quality, but were fine with it since we were sharing a little of everything and it had been prepared well. We had a bit of a drive left, so made sure we used the washrooms which were easy to find and clean. The check is brought to the table, but needs to be brought to the front to pay. It gave me a chance to checkout their dessert/pie display: it's the one thing that doesn't impress when compared to other diners specializing in pies. It's clear that management doesn't expect the staff to nickel/dime everything. For all that we got, there were only three charges on the check. Just makes you feel like you got your money's worth
