Aight. First and foremost, this place is no Freddy's. It's not even close. Freddy's is amazing and I love it. It is however far saltier, and a bit more savory in other directions. The fact that this place is NOT Freddy's is... maybe good. The burgers aren't AS crispy, or salty. However that isn't bad. The meat is flat as expected, but good and crispy. The fries, need salt. Otherwise, fast, not super expensive, and good.

Yo, that birthday cake milkshake was everything--sweet, creamy, and exactly what I needed after a long drive! I usually stop by this Steak 'n Shake when I'm visiting Joshua Tree (my yearly tradition). The burgers are solid--classic, no-frills, and always hit the spot. I always grab a bottle of their house seasoning on the way out. It's a game-changer for my homemade fries and burgers at home! Overall, I give this spot a solid 8. Consistent, nostalgic, and always satisfying. Service is always just OK. Honestly pricing is great. Ambience is a bit off.

Came in for the Frisco Burger and was not disappointed! Fries were crisp. Burger was hot. Very tasty. I liked their special sauce. The woman behind the counter (Marlene) was so friendly!!! Went out of her way to make us feel welcome! Restaurant was very clean and cheery atmosphere. The only negative thing I could say is that the restaurant smelled very "beefy".

Our Airbnb didn't have an outdoor grill and I was really wanting to make some yummy burgers. I came across this place on the way back from Walmart. The burgers were delicious! It tasted fresh and I loved the crispy steak fries! I would recommend this place!

My first time trying out a steak & shake and color me impressed! Everything from the burgers, fries to shake are higher quality than most chain fast food restaurants. Their fries are fried in beef tallow. I was also met with wonderful service from Marlene. I couldn't have been any happier with this tiny pit stop. Thank you!

Little Tim and Big Tim are the best, Cesar I saw him cleaning an already clean bathroom, guess nobody pisses on his floors and gets away with it. The manager today was super friendly as well as her staff. One of the workers gave my dog a pup cup. This place does still have the best fast food burgers, I would suggest corporate uses a thousand island sauce on their base burgers instead of ketchup. I think it will catch on like it did for IN and Out. Anyways, this place is a gem in the desert. ORIGINAL REVIEW First off the food is fantastic. The burgers are the best fast food burger you can get. The fries are decent. I can't really tell they are cooked in Tallow fat, as they advertise outside of the restaurant. Although, I am usually very happy with this place. I am leaving a one star review because of a manager's actions. Of all the restaurant personnel. the manager (apparently his name is Tim- older guy with a black polo shirt and red stripes on the side) is the one with the attitude. I don't know what I did to piss him off but he was not happy with me from the minute he saw me. I saw him ready to bring my food outside to my table, then handed the food to a girl employee to hand to me. He gave me negative vibes of which, I didn't put 2 and 2 together until, I got a refill on my soda and under his breath he said "this is the 4th time this guys been in here!" Well, I am dining at the restaurants and there are no signs that refills are limited, why is this manager eyeballing me? Usually the manager of a restaurant is THE most courteous and professional employee, but not this guy. When I tried taking a photo of him to complain to corporate, he started hiding in the back (at the grille). I've never had issues at this store before. The managers are always very welcoming and even offer my dog a free pup cup. The only thing I'd expect from this problem manager is probably spit in my food.

We had Steak n Shake delivered to our Airbnb in Joshua Tree and it was great! Burgers were delicious and came with all the fixings, the chicken tenders were very good as well. The fries are very thin (shoestring) and weren't my favorite. I think probably they just did not hold up well being delivered, which was the only negative. Definitely recommend for a good burger!

Stopped by on the way to Joshua Tree. Clean place, seating indoors and a couple spots outside. They have self order machines and cashiers too which makes ordering easy and fast. Food was good and ingredients fresh. Ordered the double cheeseburger combo with cheese fries on the side. Love their relish mustard and grilled onions toppings. They offer other items and have a kids menu too with hotdogs, chicken tenders and more. Great service! Marlene was awesome, friendly and helpful and she was taking care of everyone!

This is my new favorite fast food burger joint. The garlic burger is something I highly recommend. I added lettuce tomato and onion. The bun was soft and garlicky. The tallow fried tater tots were so crispy and had that slight beef flavor. You must add their fry seasoning on top. Sad that this location is so far from me. It's a reasonable price for the quality. This cost a little over 8 dollars? Next time I would get the double. read more

It was really good! Full size sliced pickles were great. Choice of sides between onion rings, tater tots, and French fries was fun. They were all good, too. Lots of flavors for the shakes and those were good, too. It was really busy while we were there, but staff was super nice and inside was super clean. read more

Perfect bang for your buck meal, pricing and portions are extremely fair priced. Very nice classic diner design inside and it reminds me of a Ruby's Diner sort of. Can't say too much about service because there's only kiosks but that made it very easy to get food. Overall, the perfect spot to eat and go for a fantastic spot. read more

The food is excellent and I am so happy with the customer service. I came through town to make a quick stop to feed my kids and the staff here was warm and welcoming. They got the food out quickly and even gave my girls stickers and hats. I felt so welcomed here. The establishment is clean and the ambiance is fun with great music. I'll definitely recommend anyone make a quick stop to grab some great clean food on your way through town. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the service at my most recent visit. Looking around it was a little busy but no lines or anything plus no drive thru line. Somehow I ended up waiting 30+ minutes for my order that wasn't even complicated!! By the time I even got it, the shake I had gotten was completely melted and unenjoyable with fries anymore (which I was very excited for). Would be great if management would hire an extra worker to help with this so customers don't leave dissatisfied like I did. Not planning on coming back anytime soon! read more

I've always loved Steak 'n Shake since I was a kid, went there with family a ton, and then with friends in high school. Ever since they got bought it's felt like Steak 'n Shake has really gone down hill, people expect McDonald's prices even though there were still waiters serving them (the amount of times I've seen people leave little to no tip on an already small bill is horrendous-don't go out to eat if you can't afford to tip!) Anyway, I've accepted Steak 'n Shake just won't be what it used to, but I still crave their chili and shakes, so I wanted to give this one a try. It totally made my day! While it was a condensed version of the Steak 'n Shake I grew up with, the food was really good. My order came out perfectly. All of the staff I interacted with were very kind and helpful. Marlene helped us when we had a question about our order on the self-serve kiosk, and she was so nice. I really hope other Steak 'n Shakes can follow in this one's footsteps. The birria tacos were our favorites and we only ordered one at first but then ordered a couple more. You get a good amount of food when you order the dishes which is always nice. We even came back the next day just for the horchata. If anything, at least get that.

The food was very good, cooked professionally in a timely manner by an employee I believe is named Dylan. The restaurant was very clean, and well kept, and the employees were very friendly. I enjoyed a garlic steakburger from this establishment and it has been my go to order every time, as it is always very good, especially with added ketchup. The ability to mix different varieties of shake to make my own monstrosity that I may enjoy nowhere else but here is something I enjoy, and though it may be a feature common to ALL steak n shake establishments, the suspicious lack of angry stares at my shake order was a bonus that I have not received elsewhere. My biggest gripe with this establishment, and all steak n shake establishments is the suspicious lack of chicken based items on the menu, to name a few: chicken tender, nuggets, and a baseline chicken sandwich. These are food items which I believe are always good to maintain on the menu, especially chicken tenders for the younger visitors to the restaurant. It makes very little sense to me, that they may have chili of many varieties and yet lack the basic chicken tender. read more

I am giving my review of 5 stars for our Yucca Valley Steak 'n Shake because of the following, well deserved reasons while also crediting my favorite server. Jayme B. makes my visit to our local Steak 'n Shake a worthwhile experience every time I go because Jayme B. knows the menu seemingly backwards and forwards, what comes on each of the items I choose and the best deals for meal choices (which also helps me stick closest to my budget of the day). And because she is well informed, I as a loyal customer value this fact above all others because it is the servers who represent the company best. When Jayme B. takes my order I know I am going to get the very things I order and have it all done right every single time! It is obvious management knows how to hire and keep the best employees who are a huge factor as to why people like me become and continue to be your loyal customers. Steak and shake on yucca valley is awesome. It is fast food, but all the employees truly care about the quality of food that they are putting out. The customer service is also great. Justin is a really nice, funny employee, that strives for perfection in both food, and experience. Every time i have been and Justin has been there, I have gotten all smiles and effort for a good all around experience. During this time of covid, they truly care about the safety of their customers and employees. I'm willing to stand behind any business that is worried about community health the way that they are. The restaurant is clean, and there is always an employee making sure that the inside is kept up, and that the outdoor dining area is spotless. The food comes out promptly, whether ordering inside, or through the drive thru. Keep in mind, it's a fast food restaurant, it's not going to be a nicer sit-down restaurant. With that in mind, it is one of the nicer, cleaner establishments that I've visited. It's a tier above the typical fast food place. I would compare it to Freddy's and Culver's. The burgers are tasty and seem better quality than other fast food places. They have touch screens to order from, which was really nice because it allows all their staff to be dedicated to making the food, so our food was ready very quickly. They'll call out your order or bring it to you depending on how busy it is. The fries were crispy, and they have seasoning on each table that is really good on the fries. Great service and food. A very convenient, and at times necessary stop to have before going into twenty nine palms Marine Corps air ground training center where I debate a number of my life decisions on camp Wilson. This burger is always a reminder that while the pain and misery aboard the marine corps air ground training center is temporary, the quality and experience you get at steak and shake is constant. We definitely felt loved here, and as the staff saw us make our very depressing departure to the Marine air ground training center, they sent their best regards, gave us a friendly wave, and assured us they'd be here with tender burgers, even if we were burnt to a crisp. I recently visited the Steak 'n Shake location, and I was thoroughly impressed with my experience. Right from the moment I walked in, I noticed how incredibly clean and well-maintained the entire restaurant was. It's by far the cleanest location I've been to! The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I also appreciated how seriously they took hygiene--every team member wore hairnets and gloves, which made me feel confident in the cleanliness and safety of my meal. Love Steak and Shake. I stopped at this Yucca Valley Steak and Shake and the first thing you notice on entering is how sparkling clean this Steak and Shake is. Kudos to the manager. Ordering at the touch screen is the way of the world now and what impresses me is how easy it is to customize the burger the way you want. I Ordered two western double bacon burgers and while these babies are a bit more expensive than McDonalds or In and Out, they are definitely better quality burgers and much tastier. Also ordered up fries. The medium size is actually large anywhere else. So when you feel like a burger and you are in Yucca Valley, give this Steak and Shake a go. read more

Hadn't heard of Steak n Shake until our recent visit to the Desert. Was curious to see what it was all about and did some research on yelp. 4 stars and a great shake selection (Nutella what?!) we decided to give it a try. The employee at the drive thru recommended the garlic steak burger ( the gf thought it was just ok) skip asking the employees and go straight for the BBQ Western Dbl! This was the real star. Onion rings over French fries and make sure to request the house made ranch! Unfortunately we missed the window for the Nutella Shake so go before 9pm if you want the full shebang. Definitely a nice Desert find, will be returning. read more

Our meals were as well-prepared as we remembered from our childhood. We're originally from Galesburg, Illinois, the first place SnS founder Gus Belt located one of his restaurants outside Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, so we know what the original tastes and preparations are. Our burger patties had the correct lacy, crisp edges for which SnS is known. The chili tasted exactly like in the old days. The size of the fries is slightly larger than in the 1950s, but I think that's an improvement. The service at this location was excellent; the manager was friendly and informative. Favorite spot for a burger while I'm in town, Ingredients are top notch, fresh veggies, warm soft buns, pickles are to die for, ask for extra! Fresh, hot fries, Staff is always very friendly and accommodating to special orders, Everything made fresh, lettuce is best in town, juicy patty's, If you like garlic I highly recommend the garlic steak burger and add some veggies of your choice to it, Building is always nice and cool, always running the ac, Only place I get burgers while in town! Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was practically dying of hunger so I popped in. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. I got the regular hamburger and wow... there are no words. A classic burger done right. Crisp bun, juicy patty, stuffed with all the essentials (ketc.up, shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickles). There's about a million options available between the menu board and wall full of specials, so it can get a little overwhelring, but you really can't go wrong. Not much else to say besides go see for yourself! You won't be disappointed read more

Absolutely loved this place! The burgers were amazing and full of flavor. Even my daughter, who's an extremely picky eater, said it was one of the best burgers she's ever had. The service was outstanding. We accidentally dropped one of our burgers on the floor, and the staff immediately replaced it. That level of kindness and customer service really stood out. This may be considered a step up burger place, but the shakes are awesome. They make an extremely extra thick shake but the Customer Service person Sandra was absolutely amazing. She made recommendations and also I could hear her in the back, directing the shake maker to ensure it was extra thick with light chocolate. She was hustling from table to table to make sure everybody was taking care of and some fries so they would be warmer for the drive home. Great customer service, Sandra is the best. read more

I ordered the Western BBQ bacon cheeseburger no combo and a chocolate milkshake. Since i was so hungry i devoured the burger within minutes, the crunch of the steakpatty was definitely a huge positive. I am a sucker for texture when I eat and I would definently recommend choosing the BBQ bacon option. Needless to say the shake was my favorite part definitely creamy and reminded me of my childhood milkshakes. Only reason for 5 stars is because i felt the size wasn't big enough. read more

Ambiance: large, clean, bright and airy room with a vast variety of hungry humans, all minding their own business, eating. So ambiance is good. We stopped here to get a taste of Steak n Shake since the ones in St. Louis are now either closed or icky! This restaurant is very clean, modern and the staff were friendly and didn't act like it was a pain in their ass to help you and also be friendly! I wish the franchisee in the St. Louis would spend some $$$ and put in the effort to bring SnS back to the area. I would definitely recommend this Steak 'n Shake if you're in the area! Great staff!
