My family started coming here when Firehouse first opened. We got frustrated with the other sandwich shops in the area either having a poor product, service, or just not making the food despite charging us online. As you have likely guessed, due to our busy life we order a lot of our food online. Nothing against the store itself. While a little cramped, the fireman memorabilia on the walls is charming and there is almost always a game or two on to watch. The staff here is always friendly and and helpful. Many of them are former students of mine! They always make time to say hi while they are busily at work. I ordered a small Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket and it was maybe 4 inches long. I thought it was a slider, I kid you not. I politely asked the manager about the portion size, thinking that perhaps I had in fact ordered a slider, and he threw me attitude. I love the Italian Salad with chicken; reliably great! Big too. Okay, a bit expensive, as are their subs, but at least they usually are very good. Service- 10/10. Fog brain was young and sweet. He really made my first experience at firehouse sub one to remember. Ambience is definitely top-tier. These guys are amazing! We received a warm welcome as soon as we walked in with beaming smiles to match. Our subs were made to perfection with melted cheeses and crispy fresh bread. Our daughter throughly enjoyed her Firehouse hat and loved getting to pick out her very own drink from the fridge. What happened to this place? 1sub took 27 minutes to make! It's 101 degrees out and inside this restaurant must be 85 degrees. Their wi-fi is a joke, obviously it's just there for looks, don't bother using it. Really sad, this place used to be great, not anymore. An update, sure, although I must confess I'm not saying anything too different. And that's a good thing. Consistency is a beautiful thing. This last time I went in (mid-July 2024), two young women behind the counter were super nice and friendly. And the sandwiches were deliciously made again. I do need to stop ordering the turkey and cheese (I think it's called "The Engineer") so many times and try something else, though. Recommended...again! read more

I really enjoyed eating here. My daughter and I shared the "Club on a Sub" and it was Super yummy. She said that this was the "best" sub she's ever had! We are staying up in Joshua tree this weekend. We needed to get some lunch for a bunch of people and ordered from firehouse subs. The food was OK in regards to flavor. So my friend and I were driving up to Joshua tree and wanted to bring some food with us. We made a random stop at this unvisited place that we had never heard of before and I am so glad that we did! We both decided to share the Italian sub and it was so delicious! Immediately after finishing it would look up other locations closer to us for when we were back in San Diego. I have had Firehouse Subs in the past and I keep saying everyone who cares for the delicious subs should only eat at Firehouse Subs! Not only are your purchases going towards a great cause but this awesome sub sandwich shop was started by firemen. Also, everyone loves a fireman. At least that's hat my wife tells me. Today we stopped at this one location in Yucca Valley because we are camping nearby and went to Joshua Tree National Park. I'm surrounded by 3 females screaming for food because you know we have to feed the beast once in awhile. So I recommended Firehouse Subs and there was a little resistance but I was able to persuade them by paying for it. Happy Ladies happy Life, right. We went inside and ordered. I had the Firehouse Hero, daughters had turkey sandwiches. One for the Turkey Bacon Ranch and the other Engineer and they finished every last bite. My wife had the Jamaican Jerk Turkey and loved it. All were full of so much flavor and perfect bread. The employees were friendly, motivated and respectful! We will definitely be back. It's a must go to! Seriously, stop by and try it! Writing this review as the 30 minute mark for my order passes. There have been two other costumers who ordered after us and both have received their items before us. Upon watching our order was made after theirs, maybe because it was more than one sandwich? I honestly don't understand. Also, when asked about this problem their answer was "sorry it's busy there's alot going on" when there was only two other people in the store. Additionally, we specifically asked for our order with no mayo due to an allergy, and caught a worker adding it and trying to SCRAPE IT OFF and use the same bread after letting them know about their mistake. At least we know who to contact if things go bad.... if you value your safety, I would reconsider. I placed the order at 12:00 on the Firehouse Subs website and was told that it would be ready at 12:10, I showed up at 12:15 to a semi-empty store. A Door-Dash driver was waiting for his order and said that he had been waiting 20 minutes after his designated pickup time, which is a bummer for him because it looks like he dropped the ball, not Firehouse Subs. One of the employees told us that our orders were next, but then he made 3 other orders for someone else. I finally received my order at 12:35. As I watched him make my sandwich I noticed that as he made the other sandwiches previous to mine he would scrape whatever fell out of the previous sandwiches into the lettuce bin. So when he finally made my sandwich, there were ingredients that I did not order and did not want in my sandwich, like black olives and some of the lettuce had ranch dressing and honey mustard from other orders. Once I got home to eat my sandwich with ingredients I didn't want or order, after two bites I went to take a bite of my pickle and found a hair on it. OMG this is the best place to be at! I am most definitely coming back here. Ithe moment you walk in you're greeted as if you are part of the family. Their menu is simple; can't get enough of that Turkey bacon ranch. And I love how the place is set up the vibe is just that a vibe. With that being said when I ordered my food it took no more than five minutes to sit and eat. Like WOW. I'd like to thank Razz for his uplifting spirit and his enthusiasm. There's 16 customers inside waiting for sandwiches why don't they make them???? It was good definitely better than subway but it didn't even come close to Jersey Mike's. I got a medium sandwich and I was literally still starving after. I get a medium from Jersey Mike's and it's loaded up so much I can barley finish it. Firehouse hot sauce also weak af not sure what all the hype was about. There's a Jersey Mike's on the marine base and they will bring it to you off base if you don't have a military ID so I recommend doing that if you want a sandwich that is just loaded up barley fit in your mouth. read more

Unbelievably delicious steak and cheese sandwich. It was melt in your mouth incredible!! I had construction workers at my house pouring cement and wanted to get them a good lunch. I had never been to Firehouse Subs and have lived in JT for six years. I looked up their sandwiches and chose the Steak and Cheese, large size for the men with a bag of chips and large cokes. I was there with in 10-15 minutes and they had them all ready and bagged up and carried them to my car for me. Everyone of them said their sandwiches were absolutely delicious. I also bought one for my daughter and myself. They were packed full of the most delicious tender juicy steak. It was the best sandwich my daughter and I ever tasted. The service incredible, the place immaculate and totally organized. It is my new favorite place in JT or Yucca Valley. 7:15 tonight, 3 employees working, not one employee welcomes us, all 3 just talking to eachother like we didn't exist. We had to ASK for help. Staff acted annoyed, very rude staff with no guest service skills. The employee put gloves on, but didn't even wash his dirty hands first. Staff laughing and cussing with eachother, actually saying cuss words in front of guests! We were appalled at the lack of health code practices, and no guest service, I guess the owners don't care if we come back, what an awful experience. read more

Raving on my sandwich and my cashier Rosalind. She just made my Saturday. Actually the whole crew was amazing. But Rosalind was the one that took care of me. I will return to this place over and over again like a second home. I had an engineer sandwich, no veggies cause I'm hip like that, no not really. Lol. I got a free hat cause we have to be on theme when eating at this establishment. My sandwich was so good that I didn't mind having drip stains on my shirt. If I was a slob, i would so not wash my shirt but we don't do that here.
