Steak lunch? Or dinner came with side salad, about same price as cheesburger combo

Special 95cent coffee with purchase. Family pack might be best bargain. My steak lunch was a good value. Some appetizers and sides $$ a little. Good food. Clean

Great value for the price, especially if you booked a pricey Airbnb or simply passing through. I appreciate the diner vibes and pics of old Hollywood. Breakfast is served all day, which is amazing. I ordered the avocado bacon burger, which tasted clean. The zucchini fries were also great (reminds me of Astro Burger in WeHo). The Oreo shake was pure joy in a cup. On another note, the restrooms were exceptionally clean, and the staff was friendly. Will definitely visit again!

I'm going to be honest. I have not eaten here in about 3 years. I had several really bad experiences. It was time to give them another chance. I'm glad I did. I'm enjoying a delicious pastrami sandwich. Mariana is an absolute sweet heart. Thank you for the great service and meal.

Terrible food. Terrible service Rude waitress' They don't clean their tables. I politely asked for something to clean the table with and was answered rudely with I'll be right there. She never came. When our food came I asked if I could have something else because my sandwich came with rye bread and I'm allergic to rye. I totally inconvenienced the waitress and I said never mind. I just ended up sharing my husbands food on a very dirty table. My husband was disappointed at the attitude toward patrons and the dirty table, he asked for to go containers. We will not be back to John's. Iam someone who is part of the community and will not be recommending this place to anyone.

After getting a recommendation from a friend, we decided to try. Love the zucchini fries, made perfectly. Not greasy at all. The burgers were delicious too. The atmosphere was nice too, been there since 1987 (established date). Service was quick. Only disappointment was they didn't give a military or first responder discount. With 29 Palms Marines Base down the way, we were shocked. Total cost $35.

Came here on the recommendation of a friend. It was a little confusing when we got there because we had a dog we asked to sit outside so they said okay go sit and someone will be with you. It was cold and the heaters set up outside don't work. So I literally used a heated blanket while out there. Granted we had to sit outside because of our friend's dog , but to have 4 heaters that don't work was odd. Someone came out and took our drink orders. When he came back he told us we would have to go inside to order. We could have done that when we first got there had they not told us to sit outside, it was so odd. The food was better than the service. In our group we got waffles, johns farm breakfast, johns gourmet burger, chorizo and eggs, French toast, and biscuits and gravy. My friend got another burger but I can't em ever which one. It was all good, my plate the johns farm breakfast just needed some extra salt. The burgers were your classic diner burgers you can't go wrong. My friend enjoyed his chorizo and eggs, just was kinda of a small portion. The waffles were fantastic but they are SWEET!! Which I expect from a Belgian waffle. It had this crispy sugar crystal bits, bomb. My favorite was the French toast. So fluffy and light but with the perfect vanilla flavor! Yum. Would definitely come back and see how service is sitting inside.

The burger was over cooked, very little sauce on the bun. I won't go back again. It's not like it used to be.

BUT it was definitely the biggest, most positive surprise when it came to expectations vs. actual quality! We landed in Palm Springs late in the evening and were starving on our way out to Joshua Tree. After a quick Yelp search for something open past 7-8pm, this spot popped up. We pulled into a super quiet parking lot and found this tiny little place. Looking at it from the outside, we honestly figured it would just be a quick, forgettable pitstop. Boy, were we wrong. For starters, the place was relatively full for a Tuesday evening! We ordered the duck confit nachos, the kimchi bulgogi sandwich, and the pony wings. Wow! Granted, our expectations were unfairly low walking in, but this turned out to be probably our second-best meal of the entire week--and we ate out every single day! It absolutely crushed it in terms of exceeding expectations. It also helped that we happened to be there on a Wednesday, so all the wines were half-priced! Unfortunately, since we weren't familiar with the area, we didn't know exactly how much further we had to drive to our accommodations, so we couldn't imbibe more in such a welcoming environment. (Missed opportunity, but safety first!) Oh, and definitely save room for dessert--their pie with ice cream of the day was delicious too! If you are passing through, do not sleep on this place. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

The young lady who served us was very sweet and understanding. We had a 2yrld with us and we requested extra pickles (cuz that's all that toddlers want).Eventually another staff member visited our table for some chit chat and had a laugh. We ordered 2 entrees and an app. Crispy chicken sandwich - the crispy coating slid off of the chicken thigh but still had some good flavor. The jalapeño ranch was expected to have somewhat of a kick but was more of a love tap. Imo, the crispy potato chips were a nice touch. Pretzel balls - excited for pretzels and cheese, the plate arrives at the table looking more like falafel than pretzels, they taseted burnt. The cheese they come with however, SPOT ON! My fiance had the Tiny Pony burger and stated the caramelized onions were top notch. Then she proceeded to scarf the burger down and say "it was alright"..... make it make sense. Overall, we will be visiting The Tiny Pony again in the future.

We missed our reservation time but decided to try a walk in because it was the whole reason we came into town in the first place. We were greeted by two really nice hosts who assured us there was room for us sooner than later and we were seated with our dog on the patio pretty quickly. They were so nice to us and doubly nice to our dog! We ordered fried eggplant, gazpacho, ceviche, a lamb burger, and got a lamb burger patty for the dog (we're not order food for the dog people but she was going through it too with the Walmart stuff so why not). We added a couple glasses of wine and their beer shandy and finished with a strawberry shortcake. Every bite was perfect but we rated them- Gazpacho, Lamb Burger, Eggplant, Ceviche. The gazpacho was a hit with the perfect amount of fresh/sweet cantaloupe and spicy-ness. This place was well worth the trip from Big Bear. My wife noted that everyone there that helped us legit looked happy to be there. There was also a medical emergency and the staff was so kind and helpful throughout and checked in on all the tables in the area afterwards. It kind of showed that they are invested in the people that visit.

We got really lucky - reservations open a month in advance, and we were headed to Joshua Tree the next day. I thought for sure I wasn't going to get a reservation and needed to think of a Plan B for date night. But I texted anyway, with an apology for it being so last minute, and they responded the day of confirming me for the next day! Yay! When we arrived, we asked for a seat inside, since it was super windy that day, and they were able to seat us within a few minutes. We got the butter lettuce salad (delicious), the socarrat (lots of peas and pea sprouts - this was AMAZING, and great the next day cold!), their version of bruschetta on their crispy thin bread - the bread was absolutely amazing. And we also got the tomato...um, I can't remember what it's called, but it has a base of sliced tomatoes, with hard boiled eggs, celery, and tuna aioli! Super refreshing on a super hot day. We also got a couple non-alcky drinks and left very happy. It was loud inside for sure - or, bustling, if we want to be more euphemistic. Service for us was a bit on the chilly side, but that might just be the night our server was having. There are 2 single-stalled bathrooms, and parking is very easy in the huge lot they have. I think we might circle back to this place after trying other eats around the area. This was a good time.

With an empty restaurant I had to wait to be seated. No towels in the restroom, the "Bloody Mary" I ordered was tomato juice, had to ask twice for a straw and when I asked for a side of horseradish it took 10 mins and was a cream mixture? Then they said they forgot to put in my food order at this point had I of known I would have paid for my drink and left then. But to wait over 30 mins for eggs and soft hash browns is sad. Food came and my friend said his French toast was good so there's that but my gravy lacked flavor and seasoning. Thirty of us (reasonable adults age 50+, many meeting for the first time) booked 5 separate OpenTable reservations to get acquainted before a birthday party the next day. Each table had its own reservation with enough seats for everyone. Throughout the evening, staff were quick to tell us 'that's not how we do things here' without offering much of an explanation of how things are actually done. This came up regarding more than two people standing at the host stand for their reservation (they eventually pointed us to a patio, which they could have just done from the get-go), our multiple reservations (the only difference between us and any other table is that we had a shared reason for being there), and when we asked if we could evenly split a check across more than one credit card at a table of 8. The policies themselves were fine, the tone however was condescending. We also understand outside food fees (one of us brought a box of cupcakes in honor of the birthday), but charging each table a $25 "cake fee" when cupcakes were only consumed at one table felt excessive. We had high hopes for a place we were excited to visit. We hope they refine their approach for future guests.
