I can't wait until bike riding season, because I know where I'll be every weekend for breakfast! Stopped in today while out on the bike with the hubby. We were greeted very warmly and we decided to sit at the counter. I received a cup of some of the best coffee I've ever had in my life. The ladies there would tell us what was on the plates as they carried them to the tables so we could see various menu items. I decided to get the Pipeliner. Mr. Boring decided on a tuna salad sandwich. The Pipeliner is three eggs, homefries, onion, and sausage all blended together and topped with American cheese. Then the whole thing is covered in homemade gravy. Let me tell you something: you could put that gravy on cardboard and the cardboard would taste delicious. I found myself mopping it up with my sourdough toast. Hubby also really enjoyed his tuna sandwich. They have a nice sized menu and have several specials on the board as well. Prices are very fair. With the tip our breakfast was $20. This is a very homey place that we really enjoyed. This will definitely be a regular stop. read more

My friend was having a retirement breakfast here. Got a nice omelet and home fries, as i learned are basically hash browns. In the end plenty of good food. They have a decent selection of meals. I've only had the breakfest, can't comment on other meals. Small mom &pop style diner with a tight, but comfortable seating area. This is one of my favorite places in the area. I've been to 230 at least a dozen times in the last 5 years. Staff is super friendly and the food is always good. They only accept cash to keep their prices down which is okay by this Yelper. Deserts are made fresh everyday and the raspberry pie available in the summer time is not only made fresh, but the bakers pick their own berries. I'll continue to be a repeat customer. read more

Take a seat up at the bar and get ready for an awesome experience. The staff are great and made me feel truly at home. I had heard about the pipeline breakfast and decided to go for it but it sounds really large so I decided to go with a small order. No regrets. I am not sure I could've handled the full order and I am big guy. Just like something Grandma would've made All the locals eating there gave it a hometown feel. First time to this cute little spot in the Harrisburg area. Small but comfy with friendly folks, both customers and service staff. I got one of the days specials, smoked sausage and eggs and both were very good. Coffee is good too. I saw a lady in the back kitchen icing a cake that looked great and the sticky buns on the counter were huge and tempting (I assume they're baked on premises). I'll be back next time I'm in the area. I LOVE the food from here. The breakfast is always amazing! The home fries and sausage gravy are the best! Only thing I would change is the waitresses can be very rude. If you order takeout be prepared to wait to get your food even if it's ready until the servers decide to grab it for you my husband went in and waited like 20 minutes for our take out order that was sitting there the whole time and they just kept walking by, making eye contact, & he told him that he was waiting and they STILL didn't grab it. Or once when I was 5 months pregnant and was breastfeeding at the same time I ordered the big 230 and a grilled blueberry muffin... this waitress told me I got to much food and she had no idea how I was gonna finish it all. This is the best diner I've ever had the pleasure of living near. It is perfectly situated between my workplace and house so I take full advantage of that. Their breakfast is stellar. I have tried multiple items and they were all hot, fresh, and seasoned. Their lunch/dinner is great too! Their soups are fantastic and always seem to have the perfect level of seasoning. I've never had to add salt or pepper. I really enjoy their homemade cole slaw, cucumber salad, and potato salad when it is on special. Now to the service... these ladies will take care of you and make you feel very welcome! I have never been to a place where you always see the same servers and they always seem happy to be there. We came for dinner this time and were equally impressed. They have ridicuously cheap dinners. The grilled chicken sandwhich with chips is $4.95 and a decent size with good flavor. The liver is only $6.95 and a good size as well, and good but not as good as Brownstone Cafe's. We had those 2 entrees plus a kids meal for under $20. Not bad! They are also displaying a Wednesday special for filet mignon at $12.95. Cheapest I've ever seen. read more

They used to serve breakfast all day right? I have been here and used to really like the cheap bites. Well we went there for lunch today and I had the cod and fry basket... the fish even had foreign bits stuck in the batter from whatever old piece of this or that was stuck in the grease. Dirty grease fries as well. Sadly no one in my family (grand parents love diners) enjoyed any of their food. Even the specials (tried the italian wedding soup) were just tasteless. Our waitress seemed as though she didn't want to be there more than we found ourselves wanting to leave. Hometown favorite with flair from the 1960's The location is right on the Main Street or Route 230. Highspire's only living legend of having spawned some 50 years of serving hometown food. The loyalty of the customers shines as you walk into the dining area, I have been told anytime you walk in the door seating is always limited. You have to check out the Pipeliner for breakfast if your mighty hungry, try the small order if your appetite is a bit less. Oh and those scrumptious desserts, made right in the kitchen by staff that take that extra dash of pizzazz to touch your taste buds. If you walk away hungry it is your own fault all of the servings are more then enough for a hungry man or woman. Parking is around the side on Ann Street and behind the restaurant with ample spaces including employees. Seating in the dining area is facing route 230 so lots of action can be observed during business hours from about 6 am to 7 pm, 7 days a week! Ask anyone in the restaurant about the history of the place as it seems the previous 2nd owner, a wife and husband were not making much money when the husband went to work for the Alaska Pipeline. I have eaten at the 230 Cafe for many years and many owners and have found the new owners to be the best at everything they are doing. Great food, great service, new remodel. This diner is the best it has ever been. The ladies who wait tables and serve food know almost all there customers on a first name basis, you can't get this level of service at the Brownstone and I have been turned away from the Brownstone twice (once because I didn't have a reservation and once because they were getting ready to close) that never happens at 230 Cafe. We were passing through town and we love to stop at these little cafes.. well we were very pleasantly surprised how warm and friendly the staff was. We got the philly burger, well let me tell ya my burger was done exactly how like it and you can tell it was a fresh burger not frozen. The philly burger came with grilled diced green peppers and onions and cheese. Absolutely the best burger I had in awhile. My husband and I went in for supper last night. We've been for breakfast before and LOVED it!! Our waitress was perfect last night, as was the food. However, there was a small table in the back near where we sat that had a group of 3 "regulars". They made us VERY uncomfortable by staring at us throughout our entire meal. Right before we left, the waitress asked if we would like dessert. We declined because we were too full from the delicious food we just ate. The lady at the "regulars" table made a comment about my t-shirt regarding us declining dessert. I heard one of the waitresses call her Vicky. She is VERY BAD for your business!! A friend told me about this place. My sister and I decided to give it a try. All I can say is wow... great diner food. Another reviewer said there was nothing sexy about the place, and they were right. But EVERY time we have ate there, we have been very satisfied. We have had their homemade-style pot-pie and their mac and cheese, which they make on Fridays. Both were awesome! The service is very friendly and prompt and the place is very clean. Spoken facetiously, the only problem with this place is their damned desserts! Their pies are all homemade and only $2.00 a slice! We were meeting a friend half way and needed a place to meet for breakfast. We found the 230 Cafe. It was close to the Harrisburg Airport and about half way for our friend. The people were very nice and the food was fantastic. The best part was when the waitress brought out our daughters pancakes that were made in the shape of Mickey Mouse. That tittle extra attention to detail was very much appreciated. We had a great breakfast and we may have a new halfway stop off on our way to State College in the future. Been going here since it opened 7 years ago. Best little place around for a great breakfast, lunch or dinner. Deserts are incredible. Made fresh every day. Sticky buns on Wednesdays are to die for. This is an excellent neighborhood style diner. While it is a little crowded, the clientele deal with the space restrictions very well. The wait staff is very courteous and eager to please. The menu features new items on a regular basis. The baked oatmeal (regular, apple, pumpkin, blueberry, etc.) is excellent and while they usually only have one or two flavors available on a daily basis, is well worth traveling for. The baked haddock and meatloaf dinners are also very good and I can honestly say that I have never gotten a bad meal at this diner. Portion size is more than adequate for the average diner and on some of the items it is very generous. I've eaten in some very expensive and "upscale" restaurants" over the years and I would pick this one over them any day of the week. I had heard from friends and clients this was a low key but good little diner so I decided to give it a try. Waitress was friendly, only about 5 people in there at 4 on a Friday evening. I placed my order to go... ordered the seafood platter and a club sandwich on whole wheat toasted. Pretty simple right? Got home and the seafood platter they forgot the FISH. Club was on wheat not toasted and soggy as hell. I called and asked if the seafood platter should have fish in it... the waitress asked me to hold on while she looked..grin. Finally I was told yes of course it does. I told them I had JUST been in there and was the one that ordered it and there was no fish in it. Her response.. "sorry about that". Yes I am sorry also...sorry that I will be telling everyone to avoid that place like the plague.
