The soups are to die for along with so many other items on their menu. They have daily specials and freshly made Desserts as well. I found this place by driving by and noticing the sign, I'm glad I stopped. There has a home town cafe vibe and it is filled with friendly faces. Not just the staff but the patrons too. The food was very good and made to order so it comes out nice and hot. Stop by and give them a try! read more

I'll start off by saying if you would like to meet for breakfast you might wanna get here early because it's not a very large place but from the service to the food, everything was excellent. Wow. This little hole in the wall was great. This is a small restaurant that we found and had lunch. Our group of 3 ordered the cheese steak and hamburger. I ordered the Chicken fried steak, coleslaw and onion rings. The first bite of Chicken was surprisingly good. There was a lot of gravy and the taste was really very good. The onion rings were nice and crunchy. The coleslaw was nice and homemade. The other coworker said they enjoyed their meals I would highly recommend this place, and I will be back myself. read more

A long time regular, I happen to go in today, as I know that they close at 2:00pm on Saturdays. My blood sugar was low, so I ran in for a bite. It was 12:30 when we entered. Then when asked if they were still seating as it looked empty.. The waitress whom I know all of them, was snippy and said.. I mean I can't turn you away so whatever. I left, and found that they close at 1pm for now. Well, I didn't know that, and for the attitude I received, by someone who knows I'm a customer, I highly doubt ill be returning. read more

Nice little dinner in Highspire! Parking is tight and so is the dining room but it's very comfortable! The breakfast menu has something for everyone! Been going to this place for almost 20 years. The quality of food, friendliness of staff, and value for your money has def gone way down. Went in for breakfast recently after not being there for abt 5 years. First of all, the prices advertised on their website are not accurate at all. Everything was more expensive which I get but then dont pull a bait and switch to get people to come there. Its actually fraud. Food portions were small and lackluster. Zero flavor and zero chipped beef in creamed dried beef. Like maybe a few flecks of meat in a sea of tasteless flour gob. Hash browns were not brown, let alone crispy, actually more like diced potatoes and barely even warm. Zero seasoning. French toast pieces were very small flat and dry with not much egg batter. Only things that were any good was the coffee and the bacon. Waitress was not friendly, never smiled once and only came one time to refill coffee. Been getting the same things since it opened so I know how good it used to be. You can make it better and far cheaper yourself at home. read more

Absolutely a gem in the middle of Route 230. Extremely limited seating, but there is an area as you come into the restaurant to sit and wait for a table. The place reminds me of going to my grandmas house for Sunday brunch. Pack in everyone as close together as possible but you will be eating good. Quick service, definitely get your money's worth here. Portion sizes are huge and I'm still surprised at how they can keep their prices so low. My daughter got the country fried steak and I wish I took a picture. Was seriously the best country fried steak I've had in the area. My veggie omelet took up half my plate, the potatoes were on point, and I wished my stomach was bigger because I was absolutely stuffed. read more

Omg just saw luke Bryan in Hershey PA we staying 15 minutes outside the area. Time for breakfast the next day and found this little local spot in highspire PA. Which is a ghost town and no traffic on Main Street. Walked into 230 cafe and I think the ceiling is about 7 feet high. I think the entire town is here. Wait I just saw sherif Andy and deputy Barney. Lol. The tables are a little tight and they have an eight seat counter. The menu is a decent size and the prices are $12 and under. This is definitely a townspeople place which I find very cool. Ok aunt Bea's food is here. I had a Reuben which is on rye but normal size bread. It was very fresh. GF Andrea had a BLT salad. All the ingredients were super fresh and they even use iceberg lettuce. We shared meals and it was def plenty to eat and very delicious. Bill including a shared piece of cake was $30. Definitely a diamond in the rough. read more

The Pipeliners they have are to die for! One of the best ever! They have an amazing menu.

So the last time I ate from this cafe I had eaten a bacon cheese burger. If there was an over cooked burger contest they would have won first place. Topped with a good amount of vegetables to mask the flavor of the desert burger that was cleverly hidden inside the bun top and bottom it is sure to leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth. Glad that ketchup was invented to pour all over this collection of shoe leather and old cardboard flavoring. The fries were fine and glad to see they didn't deep fry these for as long as the burger. I can't make a claim to other food from this place but the bacon cheese burger I would skip and look elsewhere. read more

We unintentionally stopped in here this weekend because we were actually attempting to try a different restaurant (which has apparently closed). It was around 2:00 when we arrived. The place was crowded and there were only three open tables. We picked one and the server appeared in just a short while to hand us our menus (she asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch). We looked at both menus. We all opted for lunch even through the breakfast menu and breakfast specials looked amazing (cinnamon bread french toast, etc.) I ordered a buffalo chicken salad which arrived with fresh greens, tomatoes, and large pieces of sliced chicken breast covered with a spicy (but not hot) sauce. I had celery and blue cheese on the side. Hubby opted for the bullafo chicken wrap. Both kids ordered the kid's hot dog meal with included a large, sliced open and grilled dog on a nice bun with chips on the side and they opted for the creamy cucumber salad which was a little sweet and included onions. My only complaint about all of the food that we ordered was that the cucumbers in their salads were a little on the rubbery side (but that often happens with that type of salad). The portions were very good sized. The prices were decent. The food was good quality. Nothing sexy, but very good. Here's why I give them 5 stars. In general, they'd earn about a 4. But they get a special bonus point because we arrived at 2:00. We didn't know they closed at 2:00. They graciously sat us, served, us and waited patiently until we were ready to leave. Only one other table was there at the time we left. They could have rudely mentioned that they were closing in a few seconds. However, they were so nice and polite. Even asking if we cared for dessert (when they knew that would prolong our visit). We didn't know that they had closed right about the time we had arrived. We OPEN sign was on and we didn't see anything else. So, three cheers for a place that actually has polite and professional personnel. I will definitely return to this restaurant. Everything about it was good and the service was top notch. It's a small diner atmosphere. I can't wait to come here for breakfast. read more

I like this place! it's always a bit busy/full on a saturday morning waiting ever so slightly for a space to open up. they have basic breakfasts with a special on the board. they are well priced, nice and clean. you couldnt ask for anything more! they are cozier and more... 'homey' than a diner. a warm atmosphere. i was impressed and excited when i saw their creme brule french toast as a special!! i couldnt decide between that and the apple stuffed french toast. i order the fr toast in addt to my regular breakfast and i was glad because the creme brule version only came with one thick slice. it was divine!! custardy and covered in syrup!! the special was only $3.50 so i thought it was a fair price, but definitely not all that i wanted my breakfast to consist of! I have yet to try there dinner specials, but i'm sure they're amazing too! this is a great little local spot to check out!! :o) read more

This small little dinner in steelton has pretty good food. The looks on the outside may chase you away. Most of all their food is homemade. Good service. And average prices. What I saw come out of the kitchen look good. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and a cup of soup. The only thing that would be nice if they took credit cards. read more
