I have to say Some times I wonder if when people gave five star reviews they were for real! Of course I know mine are, but you never know if people are just getting fake reviews done. This restaurant is a classic example of a valid five star rating. The space is unassuming but nice. The staff is very responsive and attentive. After I suggested this place to the group we stopped by to see it before dinner and the staff was very interested in answering our questions and acted as though they really wanted us to come back, of course! The food was super creative and interesting! We had the best fried calamari ever! The smoke sardines come to your table smoking! The duck gyoza will totally amaze your mouth! The octopus is a must try and the Bacalao is worthy of a try. I didn't Love the desserts, but the three other people in the group did! The bathrooms were nice and clean and the service was fantastic! Restaurant was last stop on a Barcelona Food Lover tour, simply amazing experience! We had a 6-course dinner, with items ranging from olives, pasta, soup, fish, and beef. Chef's technique is modern and inventive with their interpretation of the tapas experience. Service was very attentive, always keeping the wine glasses full and explained all the dishes very well. This was one of my favorite tapas bars I went to in Barcelona! We happened upon it by chance and were so happy with our experience we ended up coming back the next night, too. The chef's kitchen was visible from all seats in the restaurant, which we loved. The sangria was wonderful! In fact, I would say they had the best sangria we had in our 4 nights in Barcelona. It had a touch of cinnamon and was delectable. For food, we ordered one of each of the croquettes (ham, cheese, and meat). We LOVED the ham croquette. It was also the best croquette I tried in Barcelona. We ordered the ribs as well and devoured them. All in all, I would made this a stop on your tapas bar hopping if you're in the area! read more

The food was lovely but the aesthetics were really what was most memorable to me. The plates were gorgeous and every dish was clearly plated with intention and an eye for beauty. The food was lovely and the attention to visual detail was exceptional. If you want a beautiful restaurant in a trendy part of the neighborhood to impress a client or date with, this is a great choice. If you're strictly about the food, I'm sure you would enjoy it but I wouldn't rave on the "Michelin star(s)" level as other reviewers have. read more

This place is tremendous! We loved nearly everything. We had lamb which was delicious and the meat was so soft. Also had chicken and shrimp skewers with a light bbq dipping sauce. Again perfectly cooked. We had the toasted tomato bread twice. It's thin and crisp with the freshest tomato purée that doesn't soak in like other breads we've had. AND do not miss these: there's some potato tapa on the menu and it's boringly described but they are CRAZY delicious with two different small dallops of sauce on each of 6 pieces. YUM! I will miss those. Also had a platter of some thin Spanish meat which was somewhat basic but good. Calamari was perfectly cooked and just fantastic. The sangria comes out with a cube of dry ice so it smokes for a bit and it's good. For dessert we had a chocolate thing that was full of a warm milk chocolate and we also had something that was like a crem brûlée. Both came with a scoop of delicious ice cream and we'd recommend both. This place is next to another 4.5 star restaurant which had a 40 person line but we were very happy we ate here. read more

Asked waiter what else was gluten free, he named 3 things, it seemed odd as a lot of items seemed naturally gluten free (jamon plate, grilled octopus, etc.) I asked for no bread or crackers on the cheese plate, yet it still came with breadsticks all over the plate. Made it seem like he nor the kitchen gave a care about dietary restrictions despite listing they do ON THE MENU. Was annoyed, so I left and had a great dinner around the corner instead. 2254 has excellent food in a casual atmosphere, and is exceptional value. My wife and I had the 65 euro tasting menu and love almost every dish. The 17 euro matching wines were also good, though note that you're getting generous portions of a few wines, not a small taste of 12 different wines to match each course. The theme of the wine is consistent with the food, a mixture of Italian, French and Catalonian. My favourite dishes were the foie gras mousse with truffle butter (not too rich, which is important for me as I don't really like foie gras), chef's tagliatelle (essentially a carbonara) and the 72 hour oxtail. The service was excellent too - our waiter spoke great English and the restaurant was flexible with switching our dishes or wines for others. read more

The history of 2254 is certainly worth the visit. The name shares the distance the owner travelled from his native home to Spain while acquiring his vast knowledge of food along the way. Another tapas style menu. The food was great, but the delivery was slow and apparently the kitchen does not have food warmers and half the tapas we ordered were not warm. Greatly disappointed, as I had higher expectations for this establishment. Hopefully, you have a better experience with the food. The staff were ok, appeared annoyed and not too engaging. They didn't mark our reservation as complete, even though I followed up to be sure before we left. They are lingual here as well, so if your Spanish is not up to par, you're ok here. The cocktails are ordinary, they have a wonderful cava list with great local selections. The atmosphere is a rustic mod. We were amongst many travelers from around, which made our visit quite nice. read more

This place was decent. I found that this placed is pushed by a lot of hotel concierges and make it out to be a hidden gem. Everything was good until they brought out our Salmon Canelon, do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs. The presentation was amazing but with all the smoke used in the demonstration it left my throat and taste buds destroyed. I wasn't able to finish eating after that. Inventive delicious food with interesting combinations. We shared everything - we had cherry gazpacho with strawberries, beets, and marscarpone. Very unusual taste - wonderful! We also had roasted scallops with asparagus and chives in a cream sauce and Catalan bread that was toasted with a tomato, olive oil and salt. Those were the starters. Then we ordered red mullet, a local fish, cooked perfectly and placed on a bed of pureed pumpkin surrounded by a passion fruit emulsion. This was followed by our last dish, the Spanish oxtail with foie gras, ordered because so many recommend it. Everything was truly perfect, imaginative and soooo delicious.
