We tried the Bison Burger and Anchoite Pork Chop. On other visits, we have had the Birria Tacos and Cilantro Lime Fish Tacos. We stopped by on a Sunday morning with a fairly large group, but they were able to seat us pretty quickly in their outdoor, mostly covered patio area. Outside, they have patio heaters, TVs, and a bar (which I think is closed in the morning but probably open in the evening). My partner ordered the fried chicken benny and I ordered the hangover stack. Where do I even begin? All went extremely well from the first day I called to make a reservation for my daughter's birthday for 15 people. Kaylee A was very friendly and helpful over the phone and made sure everything was good for the upcoming event. I was grateful they were able to accommodate such a large party. The Day of the dinner celebration we had the best time sitting outside, the weather was perfect. The food was great and delicious. Met the expectations everyone told me it would! This is a very popular brunch spot in old town Temecula. The weekends are extremely busy. If you come around 11am-12pm, expect a looonnggg wait time. They ask for your number, and will text you when your table is ready. We arrived around 11:30, and it was a little over an hour wait. Very prompt with their estimated times as well, which was nice! There seems to be lots of seating, but they're so popular, their tables fill up fast. We sat outside next to the street (felt like we were in the street lol). It was crazy noisy with cars and motorcycles passing by. My friend ordered their shrimp ceviche as a starter, it was really good!!! Very fresh. They have 3 signature French toast options, but I just like mine plain with powdered sugar and syrup. As you can see in the picture, they put bananas on it. Ew. 1909. One of the best Temecula has to offer... supposedly. Dining here is like going on a date with a beautiful girl and then she opens her mouth and nothing interesting comes out. Just all looks but absolutely zero substance. Now in dating I guess sometimes that's ok, but with food, good looks just doesn't provide any pleasure. They all tasted bland or overly sweet. They all lacked protein. The lox had very little. The rib eye hash was mostly a potato dish with maybe 4 small chunks of over cooked beef. As for the food, I was not all that impressed. It didn't taste bad, but I just expected more from this place for the good reviews they get. I ordered the cast iron bone in rib-eye and did not like the texture or taste of the risotto and the marinade was just okay. The Puerto Nuevo-style lobster was a bit hard and the sides could be improved. Wouldn't come here again, but it seems that their bar section may be what people come for mostly. We came for the day about an hour and a half drive. There are plenty of cute restaurants in the area of old town. We came for a sister trip for Valentine's Day and of course forgot to reserve anywhere to eat so after wandering around and putting our name on multiple wait lists. We finally chose to try 1909 cause it looked very nice and decorated so fun for Valentine's Day! We sat down and were greeted immediately by Phillip who was very kind and attentive. Great service! We noticed manager walking around and checking on tables and then she came to ours. Jessica is an amazing manager! She was so kind in suggesting stuff and made sure our sister Valentine's Day was one to remember. Her personality felt like talking to a good friend you've known forever. Went wine tasting and was looking for a good nearby restaurant and stumbled on this place. At first glance it's a standard looking restaurant nothing too crazy, I love their outside patio area and how they cater to dogs (they even have a dog menu!) The food: we ordered the bison burger, the 1909, goat salad and a doggie meal (chicken with rice) -The bison burger was delicious, juicy with the taste of smoked bacon balanced by the refreshing onions and arugula. Only thing is I wished it had some type of complementing sauce rather than just mayo/aioli [8/10] -The 1909 was a solid burger as well, nothing crazy but a good classic taste and everything was cooked perfectly and I loved the design. [7/10] -The goat salad was good, I normally don't love this type of salad but loved the dressing and various toppings. Chicken was a little bland though [5/10] -the dog meal: obviously I didn't try this but I will say I had to go through it and remove large clumps of hardened rice, they almost felt like plastic. I had to throw out a third of the rice and I'm glad I looked closely at the food because my dog could have choked on it. Furthermore the chicken looked like the same chicken used on our salad; it didn't seem like the chicken in the salad was seasoned more so they definitely need to fix that. What a great little restaurant. I'm surprised we were able to walk-in on a Saturday morning about 1030. We were celebrating our birthdays and sat inside. It was freezing. This place is very airy and open so I recommend bringing a jacket. Food was pretty good service was good. You can tell the bar tenders love their job they were whipping up amazing drinks which was fun to watch. They even gave us a special treat after our breakfast- the coke float! I would define come back here with a group. I'm sure this place get packed on weekend and at night it seems like a great place. Had lunch today and observed a number of disturbing practices that were unhealthy. We observed a waitress, use her bare hands to wipe off spots from the inside of a glass and then pour wine in it and serve it to a customer. Another server was slicing orange peel to put in a drink and used the corner of the bar top to cut the orange and then put it in a customers drink. Next, we observed a worker cleaning off tables who dropped his cleaning cloth on the filthy floor and then proceeded to continue wiping the tables with the same cloth. We absolutely love 1909. Every item we've tried on the menu has been outstanding, every time we visit. We've taken friends and always recommend 1909 to everyone heading to Temecula. Some of the dishes we've had are the Chilaquiles with Pork, the Watermelon Salad with grilled shrimp and the Hangover Stack. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes are bursting with flavor. The service is always consistent, the hosts, waiters and bartenders are attentive and the drinks are top notch. We've tried the Bloody Mary, Cadillac Margarita and old Fashioned. Visited late night after a performance at the local playhouse. The place was packed. After waiting about 20 minutes to be seated we were sat on the patio. The heaters were a little too spaced out so we were pretty cold. Ordered 2 burgers and 2 fries to share for our family of four. Food took almost half an hour to arrive. Positive- ordered and food out in about 15 minutes. All the dishes were well presented and looked great. Negative- I had the chili and asked before ordering if it was thick. Waitress said yes. It was like soup but tasted like a stew. I didn't like it. Everyone else said they food tasted ok, not sure if anyone of us would go back. Had to return a Shirley temple. It was bad. Ordered meals and appetizers. Total cost was about $125 for 5 persons and no alcohol ordered. See the photos. Heading back home from San Diego and needed to stop to grab a bite to eat before heading home. We stopped here because we've been here plenty of times and our experience has always been good. I got the watermelon jicama salad with mixed greens and I added cajun salmon. It tasted wonderful, the fish was crispy but the meat was tender soft and the flavor was great. The jicama and watermelon tasted delicious. I also got a mocktail which was also yummy but a little too sweet. The downside is parking, trying to find a parking spot can be a little challenging but it won't stop us from coming here. The other downside on this visit was the service, it took a little too long for the server to take our order. Maybe she was very busy but it would've been nice to at least have our drink order taken. Waited three hours for one of the worst meals of the whole weekend. We gave into the hype and while we passed on our first two attempts due to the long wait times, we stuck it out on the third attempt for our final dinner while visiting old town Temecula. So many regrets. Burgers arrived cold. The poutine was not representative of a poutine, there was nothing marsala about it and even worse, the sauce was coagulated. Gross. Not a single person liked it. First round of cocktails arrived after the entrees were half eaten and were luke warm. Steak was over cooked and also cold. I could go on and on about how wrong everything was... The 2+ hour wait was NOT worth it at all. Most aggravating is that we waited for so long after being quoted 1.5 hours but saw so many empty tables and no urgency to clean them up and sit waiting guests...and kept being told it would be another 10 minutes. We anticipated a meal that would be so amazing we would understand why we had waited so long but 1909 completely missed the mark. Such a disappointing way to end our night. To our surprise, we walked by the restaurant the next day and saw it was jam packed again for lunch and we couldn't help but feel bad for everyone who saw the 3k plus reviews and expected what we did. Maybe we were a one off but if you dig into the reviews you will find similar comments....cold food...dry burgers. I hope ownership reads this and puts some quality control measures in place to get things to be more consistent to the standard that earned so many stars from other diners. read more
