Highly regret us this company. Ordered two containers to be shipped from Illinois to Arizona on May 23rd and then ordered another container to be shipped May 28th. They felt it would convenient them by shipping my containers together and deliver them the later day without my approval. My family of four and two dogs were left without our property for five days. Do not use this company! Horrible experience. Scheduled our drop off date 3 weeks in advance. Received emails confirming. Took off work. They just rescheduled it at the warehouse without informing us for two days later, after the weekend we took off. Had nowhere to sleep for two days. Called 10 times over the course of the day. They just kept transferring us and saying that nobody was picking up at the warehouse even though they were open until 10 that night. They acknowledged that it was supposed to be delivered but basically said too bad for you. It was a complete nightmare. I suggest anyone else. read more

I wished it were a negative *. Pack Rat is the worst I have ever used. 1. I moved 2 hours away and was unable to have my thing delivered after stating they told me they are all over the country, to my knowledge Fort Wayne, IN is 3.5 hours away from them and still in the country. 2. I was told that the containers were sealed and nothing could get in, I did not have any food just furniture and clothing and yet It was full of mouse poop, lets not call it 1-800 Pack Rat lets call it Pack Mouse totally disgusting 3. In the past I uses 2 other container vendors and have always been completely satisfied, getting clothing that is chewed up by mice and furniture that has been nibbled on cost me a lot of money. 4. The delivery and pick up driver Paul was very disrespectful and rude to my 88 year old mother who was attempting to instruct him to avoid blocking her garage that she drives in and out of 5. I have had nothing but issues with this company since the beginning! The first and only time I had requested my POD to be accessible, I drive 30 miles one way to get there and my POD is no where to be found. I was being told it was there, but there were no PODS that had my lock or my unit number on them. So 60 miles and an hour wasted.... Now the next day, my recurring payment was deducted from my checking account and it was for $100 more than it was supposed to be. When I call billing, no one is available. I call customer service and the nice young man advised me that he cannot see why but it might have been done in error?!?! Really? Now it is a Sunday, my account is overdrawn so I will be charged a fee, on top of the fact I do not have access to my money that I need. I have now been transferred to Billing where I have been on hold for a half hour. Sadly, I cannot afford to move my belongings to another company so I will have to remain here but if I ever need to use a storage company in the future, I will never be using 1-800-PACK RAT. read more

Excellent service. The owner, dispatch and drivers are very easy to work with. They arrived on time to drop the pod as well as to pickup when we were ready. They were very accommodating to our schedule. The delivery of the pod several months later was also done on our schedule. You can tell that the pod was handled well as all the items within the pod were intact and in the exact place that we put them in at the time we loaded it . They get one star because when I called I spent an hour on the phone with them figuring out how to deliver to my condo and they agreed. Then I got an email that I cancelled my delivery, which I did not. When I called back they said they won't deliver a pod to me. I spent another 40 minutes on the phone with that guy. My area meets ALL the technical specifications that the company say are required in terms of space allotted. It is close, but it meets ALL of them. I measured several times. And I watched the video, and if someone can drive the truck, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to do it. So frustrating. read more

This has to be the worst customer service I have ever received. After multiple calls I was finally given a delivery window of 12-4 today. It is 4:26. No call. No delivery. I have left a message with the customer service for call back. It has been an hour and 20 min. Nothing. read more

My roomate and I rented a pod. We live in an apartment and It was a local move to one town over. We only needed it stored for 10 days. from the moment the pod was delivered we had problems. 1. We told the driver to put it in a parking space. He did not listen and put it in the driveway. 2. While putting it in the driveway the driver wrecked one of the complex trees. 3. In order for them to pull the pod out, they needed to open parking spaces. I forgot to move my car and when they were ready to pick it up there was a car parked in the space they needed. That part was my fault, but we told them to put it in a parking space for that reason. 4. We called the driver 4 times to reschedule. Finally. They said theyd pick it up between 6pm and 12am. We were able to move our cars finally to take the spots and my roomate waited up for them to show up. They never did. 5. My roomate recieved an email that they rescheduled pickup for the 6th. we are like im sorry, what? we have to be out TODAY. 6. We attempted to call them about 8 times and each time we never got an answer. We finally were able to track down the extension of a office phone using the online chat tool. 7. When we finally got the guy with that extension to call back, all he said he could do was put in an email request. I inquired with him if he realized that the sense of urgency that should be required here is alot more than he was giving. I told him His pod could be towed because after today, the apartment was going to be no longer ours.... he did not seem to care. After 4 escalation and a lot of coercing we were able to get them to pick it up tomorrow. In conclusion. We both feel that their buisness practices are unethical and border line fraudulent. The level service that they promised to provide and what we were paying for was absolutely not provided. Their services should have made our move less stressfull but instead exhuberated the level of stress to an unacceptable point. In the future, if you ever need a pod GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY. We just moved in this past June and 1800 Pack Rat Mount Prospect was a wonderful service. Prompt on delivering the pod and picking up and re-delivery were all scheduled on time and with communication the day before. Also the crane service hands down beats any roll on roll off service. The product was fine and the move(s) relatively smooth with the exception of one "jerk" driver. The problem I had was they charge a "transportation fee" every time they move a container which added over $15 each move despite paying $65 for every move. When asked about this, they referred to the contract even though it is not in the estimate and is not spelled out how much they charge. My house was 1 mile from the distribution center and move was 6 miles! One CS rep said it was for a fluctuation in diesel cost. Really, $15 for 6 miles for a change in fuel cost? This is just a padded hidden charge. Beware! read more

Was very professional and verified with me several times on the placement of the pod in the driveway. Brian was very conscientious that I had it exactly where I wanted it. Horrible customer service and response time. This company bought out Zippy Shell who I had my original contract with for my storage and eventual long distant move. I was never informed that Pack Rat bought them I just noticed a second charge one month from Pack Rat. I moved in May after multiple calls on hold for over an hour to even arrange my move. And now I've been charged still in June and July for my storage although my account is closed. And again after many calls and hour-ish hold times, I am assured it won't happen again. This time it's been days and the refund I told would happen still hasn't. They are illegally stealing money from my account and I will now have to spend my own money to block them because I don't trust they will stop charging my account. read more

I used 1-800-Pack Rat back in July 2015 to relocate from Chicago, IL to Dallas TX. I have relocated long distance before and it was an absolute nightmare trying to drive a truck for days across numerous states. 1-800-Pack Rat made everything so simple AND they gave me an incredible rate. It was the same price to use a shipping container then attempt to drive a truck again. Customer service was always available to answer my questions and a HUGE shout out to the truck drivers!!! Those guys are remarkable, super helpful and very flexible considering the circumstances. I do intend to use 1-800-Pack Rat again for any future moves. read more
