Steak tartare and shrimp poboy
Mariel T.

Great little cafe for breakfast or brunch. Hits: -Steak tartare -Burger and frites -all of the pastries -latte with vanilla bean syrup Misses (specific to the tartare, which is still my favorite hit): -this last round, the gem lettuce that came with it was on its way out. -you have to order bread to go with it (necessary but delicious) Service was great.

Fantastic food and a cute cafe location. Parking is mostly street parking because of the small lot, but we had no issues finding a spot. The cafe was also not crowded when we went on a Saturday afternoon. Their brunch menu is fantastic! The breakfast sandwich was our favorite. Other standouts include their French onion soup and the beef tartare appetizer. And the potatoes! Those were my favorite- so unique Ive never seen potatoes cooked like that. Other highlight was the dessert. Fresh and hot- be sure to check out their incredible pastry assortment as well!

Very cute and French like shop on the inside. Low key, slow moving, I like their vibes a lot. The prices are on the higher side. I like the appetizers a lot : Caesar salad, beef tartare. Partner also likes his cocktail. I got their main with the pork skewer and bean/corn rice concoction: Not my favorite in the world. Partner got the burger which was fine, nothing crazy. Their pastries look beautiful and they are pricy... I think we got a Kouign Amann for $7 or $8 AND they dont give a discount at night, which they definitely should because I dont know if its good practice to sell stale croissants the next day..

Very cute little pastry restaurant! We ordered a decent spread for brunch and love the variety of food you can get we got beef tartar, potatoes, breakfast sandwich and burger. Everything was delicious but the burger was just average. The burger patties were tiny and lacked anything special to make it a good burger. The breakfast sandwich was good but the crispiness of the croissant was lost due to the grease. Tartar was creamy and we didn't get food poisoning so that's a plus! Potatoes were roasted beautifully tender but not crispy, never had roe with potatoes but there were a nice salty packets that paired well with the potatoes! Staff was extremely friendly and patient with us. Will be coming back for more!

Brunch food is just delightful. Ambiance was great as well. Customer service and interaction was excellent. They preferred customer preferences. The pastries were tasty. Breakfast croissant sandwich was mind blowing and best so far.

Salted chocolate chip cookie and chocolate croissant

A small Italian cafe with pastries and coffee. I ordered a salted chocolate chip cookie with a cup of coffee. Both were delicious. The place is clean and it has tables and a bar to sit. We were met promptly upon arrival and shown to our seats. It was a very nice experience. The only downside is parking, but it is available and we were lucky.

This is a cozy brunch spot with a lovely atmosphere. Very cute and quaint! The white paint and wood used in their decor gave the place light tones. The natural lighting from many windows really brightened up everything too. They have a coffee and dessert bar on the right and an alcohol bar in the back. We came around noon on a Sunday and they were very busy. Would recommend arriving earlier on the weekend if you can. We looked at the menu while waiting a few minutes for a table, so we were able to order once we sat down. They were friendly and made sure we enjoyed our food. We got the Carbonara and Quiche of the Day with Salad. The Carbonara had a rich, creamy sauce that clung to the pasta well. They used small shell-shaped pasta that held more of the sauce in the crevices and ridges, a nice touch. The addition of guanchiale and parmesan gave it extra savory flavor. The freshness of the salad paired well with the Quiche. Watermelon radishes on the salad also gave it a nice pop of color and crunch. The Quiche had a great flaky crust and light silky smooth custard filled with spinach and cheese. The beignets were amazing - soft, fluffy pillows of goodness covered with lots of powdered sugar. A order has 3 and they are quite big, good for sharing. Overall, Epicerie is great for brunch and catching up with friends!

Snapper and crab toast

Situated in the Rosedale neighborhood, this cozy bistro offers up French-Louisiana fare with seasonal farm-to-table ingredients and a stunning pastry case. However, beyond aesthetics and perhaps their beloved "Mad Dog" pancakes (recently brought back on Thursdays only), I'm not sure I can say this place is worth visiting. Prices are steep and - while the ingredients are fresh and more unique - I found most of the food to be rather bland and the portions quite small. Beyond the pastries and sweets, I don't think the value is there. I would revisit solely for the pancakes and bakery items! Service was okay. We were seated promptly and things were brought out in a timely manner. Our server was kind enough to split our checks, but then ended up charging our cards to the wrong check. Since it was a less than $2 difference, I didn't say anything. Seemed like a careless mistake. For an iced latte, pancakes, and toast, plus tax and tip, it was almost $50. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, a small lot or street parking around the neighborhood. - Reservations? No, they operate on a first come, first served basis. - Outdoor seating? Yes, a cute patio area is available. FOOD & DRINK RATINGS: - "Mad Dog" pancakes (5/5): Recently brought back due to popular demand, these pancakes changed my life. So thick, fluffy, and perfectly golden. The butter is a godsend. It's sweet and creamy and so good! $16 for a stack of 3. - Snapper and crab toast (3/5): The bread was good, but everything on it lacked flavor. They piled an abnormal amount of parsley on it. Parsley to me is a garnish, not an herb I want mouthfuls of. I picked most of it off. The chives were nice but chopped too long, so difficult to eat. And the snapper/crab salad mixture had no flavor. Disappointing for $18. - Carbonara (3/5): This was just okay - I've had way better carbonara dishes. I liked that the noodles were thick, but nothing more. - Iced vanilla latte (3/5): Not terrible but not great. A little milkier than I'd like. I didn't finish mine.

A charming neighborhood bistro in the Rosedale area this French-inspired spot is the perfect place for a relaxed brunch or lunch. I visited on a relatively quiet weekday with a friend, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. One thing you have to try here is the pastries and my personal favorite was the beignets which were perfectly sweet and delightfully airy. My friend ordered the quiche, and from the bite I had, it was pretty delicious. Everything paired nicely with the cappuccino I ordered, and they also offer an impressive selection of coffee and tea. They've got other tempting savory options too, like the burger and po' boy which I was definitely eyeing those. Parking is available, though I can imagine it might be a bit tight on a busy weekend, so just something to keep in mind.

I was so worried epicerie would be overrated, but to my pleasant surprise, it lived up to the hype! I will say, we went in the evening, so the pastries we got from the display seemed a little stale and weren't the best. But I imagine it being a lot better if you go earlier in the day when they're fresh! As for the food, I was a huge fan! My only complaint is that it's definitely pricey, especially for the portion sizes. The quiche was so delicious, so silky, so high quality! It literally jiggled when you moved the plate, that's how light and delicate it was. The salad was also really nice in delivering some acidity and freshness against the richness of the quiche. The pork shoulder was also a top favorite for me. The meat was so tender, and the fat inside was interspersed throughout, and not too jiggly that it felt like you were eating just mouthfuls of fat. The grits were so buttery, and probably the creamiest grits I've ever had. I thought the beignets were decent. Not best I've had, but still pretty good! I think I just prefer a breadier and fluffier beignet. But I do like that they provide honey to eat alongside it. We also tried the strawberry snail from the pastry case. Like stated earlier, it was a little stale just because we came later in the evening. But the flavors were good. And yeah, while expensive, the food was really good. And even just looking at the menu, there were so many other things I wanted to try.

The pancakes were fantastic! Crispy edges, fluffy with great flavor! The service is what you'd expect, friendly & warm!

The place is buzzing and so nice and cute inside. We came on a Sunday morning and there wasn't a wait. The menu was small but sufficient. The portions are tiny though though so don't come hungry

Wonderful, the French inspired menu and exquisite pastries make épicerie a must go. Today's visit a lovely hamburger and fries made its way to the table.

There is 2 hour validated parking under the building so you can shop without worry. I consistently come here for the TJ brand of Greek yogurt with fat and honey flavor, and for their canned sparkling wines which I just personally find fun. The staff are always friendly, true to the TJ culture. And the little area around outside is cute and nice to get a snack or some dessert nearby.

Well, this is probably the best TJ's in the Austin area due its size and variety of healthy, eco-friendly products, so if you've not yet had the pleasure to visit, here's why you should: 1. Yes, it's in downtown at Seaholm but you get 1 hour of free, validated, protected garage parking right outside the basement doors. When you come in the garage, go forward and loop around to the left side to reach the marked TJ spaces. In 2025, you validate by entering your license plate number in the Metropolis kiosk - it's a breeze. 2. Bring an insulated bag for frozen items. TJ's has an impressive selection of high quality frozen seafood and prepared meals, appetizers, sides, and desserts that you won't find anywhere else at these prices. Lately my favorites are the assorted dumplings and other dim sum fare. Oh, and get ready for some fun on the freezer aisle, where you'll be tempted by all manner of sweet treats stored at eye level above the freezers. 3. Seasonal, limited edition items. Early summer was lemon season with lemon pasta, lemon pesto, lemon body care, lemon candles, and so on. My most recent visit, it was strawberry everything: tiny pies, mochi, dry cereal, etc. At Christmas time, my friends go wild for the kringle pastry selection. There's always something that will only be around for a few days, so you feel like you've struck gold when you get there before it's all gone. 4. Seasonings and sauces. TJ's has some of the best spice blends and prepared sauces that will punch up your home cooked meals. I am obsessed with the crunchy chili onion oil and dry crunchy chili onion sprinkle shaker, living in anxiety that they will be retired. 5. The nicest people! Everyone working seems to have a PhD in customer service. I always leave with a smile on my face after dealing with the friendly checkout counter staff person. There's even more to love - fresh flowers! awesome skincare dupes! great produce & cheese! excellent low cost wines! - but you'll need to come in & experience it for yourself. Bring your reusable bags!

We were greeted into produce by a wine tasting and then sausage sampling with a live cooking demo. Lots of sampling going on. I enjoyed the new store and can't wait to go back when it's not as busy. Contrary to another review, they usually have fresh fruit on hand; bananas in a basket and prepared fruit cups. They have a fair selection of beer, wine, soft drinks and coffees. That might be due to so many people being in town that week but they seemed to run out of drinks fairly quickly. It's also no fault of the store but it's worth mentioning right in front of their doors seems to be a popular hangout for Austin's homeless.
