This must be one of a few Wonton Noodle shop that is located in such high altitude! Located at the Peak Galleria at the top of Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island, this part of the chain of noodle shops that serves up traditional Cantonese / Hong Kong Style Wonton Noodles! With the menu being a bit limited, ( they do not serve any congee, steamed rice rolls, fried noodle ), you are limited to getting the basics and sometimes that's not a bad thing! Like some Japanese Noodle shops that only specializes in noodles, they become very good in keeping the quality and standards! So when you are up at the Peak, drop by for a bowl of wholesome & comforting noodles with wontons that is so plump and filled with umami!

Before we headed down the mountain, we stopped by Mak's Noodle. They're famous for their wonton noodle soup (which I ate way too much of during our time in Hong Kong). Unfortunately, for $6, these bowls were so tiny! Although the dish was decently good, the portions are definitely too small. Each bowl consisted of three wontons and about five bites of noodles. Overrated? I think so!

Mak's noodle has a long tradition in Hong Kong. There are now several outlets in Hong Kong. They are famous for their wonton, noodle, beef brisket and tendon. Casual place, efficient service, nothing fancy. Food is very good, noodles al dente, the wonton are fresh, mainly made with shrimp. As this outlet is on the Peak, it's rather touristy. It's not cheap as the portions are quite small. You may eat a second bowl at least. Try the outlet on wellington street which is the first one.

Big beautiful wontons in a small bowl

This was another Michelin star restaurant I tried in Hong Kong. Their noodles are superior and their dumplings are filled with big shrimp. The bowls are extremely small for how much they cost, like the size of a rice bowl small. Is it slightly better than other wontons noodle soups I've had, probably. Is it noticeably better? Not really. Overall, I enjoyed it as a snack and because we were in the area. Would I go out of my way for a bowl of this Michelin star wonton noodles? Probably not. I do love wonton noodles though.

Portions are pretty small but so good. Michelin star rated. You're offered hot tea at the table. Our group mainly ordered the beef brisket and wonton noodle soups and one of the set meals. The beef brisket is absolutely yummy and shrimp wontons were filled goodness. The broth is a little greasy but tasty enough to where you don't have to add any additional seasonings. Add a set meal to share to get a little fuller. Again, portions are small but so good.

Brisket & tendon lo-mein with side of sui kau and wonton.

i used to think it couldn't get no better than mak's noodle in richmond, bc. mak's is HK wonton noodle royalty if you ain't heard and they share same name (but idk if they're actually related in any way officially). anyhow, my cousin and i had rode the mad treacherous peak tram to the top of Victoria Peak and did hella touristy sh*t. we needed to power up and cool the flip down (i'm from the PNW so i'm part amphibian - my skin needs to stay moist and hydrated). we seen this branch of Mak's as soon as we left the mall and figured this was where fate wanted us to go. i ordered the brisket lo-mein with a side of sui kau. my cousin ordered same except with wonton on the side. portions were small (as expected with my experience at mak's in richmond) and looked on point. then i took my first sip of soup. i wish we could use emojis in our reviews because i would use the one with the big open eyes! DAYUM that's a tasty broth. slowly simmered shrimp shells and dried stock fish = umami explosion. fml. head and shoulders above anything i've ever had in north america for wonton soup. and i ain't even started on the noodles yet! perfectly al dente egg noodles for the lo-mein. brisket was shiny with collagen from the tendon and sticky-icky-icky on your lips. lmao. mmMMMMM! sui kau had a crazy thin wrapper, crunchy bamboo, distinct shiitake mushroom flavor, great textured pork, and fresh shrimp. how they keep everything with a perfect mouth-feel, i don't know...and i don't care. ugh. my mouth is watering as i write this. if you've read any of the other reviews, you'll see peeps take issue with the portion size. i get it, it's not much value for the portion. i think that $$ goes towards the prep and i value quality over quantity all day. that said, this sh*t ain't fillin' a brotha up. what am i to do? order another lo-mein, son! this time i got the shrimp roe lo-mein. looks wack and on paper, it sounds wack too. till you take your first bite. shrimp roe is like magic fairy dust from the ocean. maybe a mermaid version? idk. it's briny and nutty. a flavor you've never had anywhere else but seems vaguely of the ocean. so simple. so good. i want...

We stumbled onto this place in the mall by the peak. Its apparently where all the workers up there eat and I can see why. It was cheap and delicious. It is cash only, so be sure to have some cash on you, but you just cant go wrong. Everything the three of us ordered was amazing. The server was so kind and friendly despite the language barrier. Its obviously some sort of chain, and it did have an english menu, but dont go snobby on that and give it a try!

Portions are extremely small but the small bowl is filled with flavor. I always thought that wonton noodles had this weird taste to it but for some reason I didn't taste that at Mak's Noodles. Recommended by a friend, definitely a must try. You'd probably need to order 3 bowls to make up for one bowl of wonton noodles in NY. Go for the shrimp wonton noodle which is their original, much better than the meat wontons.

I went for dinner and as I was solo, I opted for their prix fixe set menu- the "premium" set. In my opinion, the food was lacking in taste and quality despite the high price. Maybe I should have ordered individual dishes, but even their signature baked crab dish was too creamy and salty. Service was also lacking in my mind. The waiters seemed unenthusiastic and often would place the next dish without a word or a simple phrase like "dessert" without any additional comments or explanation... and often had a tense or unfriendly expression. It was also difficult to get their attention as they were often times hard to locate. I am so glad we had an opportunity to dine here. I do recommend you make a reservation. We tried to dine there again on our last day but everything was booked. They were able to fit us at 11:45 and even allowed us to order the Peking duck with no advanced notice. You must do so 24 goes in advance. Unfortunately the time did not work well for us so we cancelled the last minute reservation. We had their crispy half chicken the best I had while in HK. I ordered this dish everywhere! The Golden Leaf's was crispiest and the skin looked like glass! While the chicken was still very juicy! The mixed fried rice delicious! Our waiter was very sweet as they were almost closing getting ready for dinner dining offered us some more rice they had. I was too full but my fiancée was very happy to accept some more. I highly recommend this place even if you aren't staying at the Conrad give this place a try it will be worth it!

Goose and Soy Sauce Chicken: They are most known for their roast goose which has a complex and layered seasoning different than other HK roast duck/goose places. The pretense is non-existent and locals (including myself!) seem to love it here. So like many noodle spots in HK, this place is fairly small. No big tables for 5+ but quite a few small'ish round tables that are good for solo eats or the invaluable food companion. The aroma coming from the semi-open kitchen should be enough inspiration for folks to know what they want upon arrival, but just in case they have the menus outlined along the wall. An easy way to start? Try a wonton and beef brisket with your choice of noodles. The wontons are somewhat pillowy in texture and full of flavor while the beef brisket is braised well while maintaining a perfectly chewy bite. The noodle variety is good, with egg / rice noodles winning over the crowd though I feel the e-fu noodles take the cake. Lastly, do not sleep on the beef tendon. It's practically butter when done right. Chui Hing does fancy itself as a HK style cafe, so other dishes like congee, fried fish skin, fried rice, may appear on the menu, focus on what to stack in your bowl instead. The staff is really helpful and welcoming.

The overall vibe is loud, "club-like," and kind of ratchet, there was a table quite far away from us but the customers were so clearly drunk and loud that the entire restaurant could hear them. We haven't even gotten to the food-- which was below average all around. We had pre-ordered the typhoon crab in advance and it was very expensive, was so over-seasoned, and the crab was not fresh at all. The bbq roast pork (char siu) was okay but incredibly oily and we couldn't finish it. The only passable entree was the fish, but even that was just a steamed fish and nothing to write home about. The service was okay, nothing spectacular but polite enough. The other nice thing was that we got these cute little mah jong desserts and I liked that the outside wall of the restaurant was decorated in mah jong pieces. It's a well recognized, popular place in central Hong Kong, located by Victoria Harbour. I had heard about this place from before visiting Hong Kong. Tim Ho Wan, which is a one Michelin star rated famous dim sum place, was at the top of my list for Dim sum but we couldn't make time for it based on our sight seeing itinerary. When we got here, there was a wait but the line was moving fast. You have to mention to the front door receptionist about how many people you have in your party and you get a number. Once your number is called, you get seated. Once seated, a server comes and places plates and silverware and offers you water and tea. Tea is complimentary. I have heard that some places in hong kong charge you for tea while you are under the impression that it's complimentary. The way it works for ordering dim sum items here is that servers constantly are around pushing carts full of variety of food items. You with flag them down or when they come by your table area, you tell them what and how much you want of the foods they have on their cart. There's a list of items on the side of the cart to tell you what all they have in that cart. Once you are given what you wanted, the server marks on your bill what you got and how much of it. Later, you take that bill to the cashier and pay. We ate a lot of variety of foods. Dumplings, buns, fried rolls, roasted pork pieces, and mango oriented dessert items. It was all delicious and good. We loved it. It was worth the visit. This place is good for anyone (locals and tourists). It's in a nice setting.
