Very good, but not the best I've had. Noodles were perfect. Soup was subtle but very little (portion runs small) but it was just right for me. The wontons were good, but not as meaty as I'd personally like it (the wontons noodle soup by me in NY pack their wontons with alot of shrimp)! Line was long when I went but it went by quick! Super efficient. Price was worth it for what you get! I wished I tried other wonton noodle soup places in HK so I could compare though!
The one place I planned for this time's trip. With Hong Kong having many choices for what they are known of... that is which is the place for the best wonton, it never occured to me to come here, even after two decades, I would walk by the place an unknown amount of times, sometimes going across the street to that other noodle joint (Mak's) and sometimes just saving my stomach for something totally different, not understanding why I would need to make an effort on even coming to this place. Well, finally I came, and this one caught me off guard. I came on a Thursday night around 8PM and the line... "there was a line up out the door" plays true to this place, as that bubbly Michelin boy helps the situation of hype as I was in a line of tourist, and even when I was seated there were two Korean tourist right across from us that needed out assistance to order. The menu is very small, the only thing you really are coming here is for a bowl of akaline noodles and what's on top..... wonton's, their speciailty fishballs which are the size of tennis balls, and beef slices. Sure you can order greens on the side, but that's it, this place is a... know what the heck you are going to order, order it once you sit, eat, pay at the front... get outta here and don't hold the line for others, it is as simple as that. So getting back to my dinner, me and my wife ordered a bowl of wonton and noodles, just a plain fish ball bowl with broth, and a side of greens. I can tell you the service is fast, as they also know there's a lineup outside, and it felt like 30 seconds and our food already hit the table. And the wonton's were plump with very fresh ingredients, including the shrimp used. The noodles were cooked pefectly with enough springy sensation, and there was no alkaline taste, but the real star was the fishballs, I've never had anything like it. I can say, I understand the hype, and the size of the servings was enough. I would definitely fight through that line up again to come into this place to have another bowl on my next trip. Also, just remember cash or octopus card only......

I came at peak dinner time so there was a queue, but it moved fast and we were seated in about 15 mins. Like many other popular spots, you'll likely be seated at a table with strangers so that they can get people in and out quickly. I ordered the Three Toppings Noodle which comes with wonton, fishball, and sliced beef. We also ordered veggies with oyster sauce on the side. The wonton and fishballs were tasty and big, while the sliced beef was okay, a bit too chewy. The egg noodles were delicious as expected. I definitely recommend them for wonton noodles if you're looking for a good spot to eat!
Randomly wandered across this wonton noodle place in Central and didn't realize it was such a big deal! The line outside did suggest that there was something worth eating here, so we decided to queue. The line is quite fast and I enjoyed the no-frills menu which made it easy to order. We ordered the King Prawn Wonton Noodle (HKD40) and Three Topping Noodle (52HKD). The price is fair for the portions, which are not huge. The bowl is small but packed to the brim with noodles and toppings. The Prawn Wonton, Minced Fish Ball and Sliced Beef toppings in the three-topping noodle were generous and tasty. The chili oil on the table is quite strong and the bowls are quite small, so caution to not be too heavy handed with it! We were in and out in under 10 minutes as it's quite fast paced. I had no concern with that as the service is friendly and the food is fast. I'd recommend for sure.
Tsim Chai Kee Noodle 沾仔記（威靈頓街) - Wonton Wonders and Wallet Woes After a long day in Macau dodging tourists and sunburn, I stumbled back into Hong Kong with one final mission: eat wonton noodles or die trying. I stood at the culinary crossroads of Mak's Noodles and Tsim Chai Kee. I chose the latter because the internet told me to, and I have no spine when it comes to food decisions. I ordered the dry noodles with the holy trinity: wontons, beef, and fish balls. First sip of the soup--chef's kiss. Deep, savory, umami magic. Like if a mushroom and a sea creature had a soulful jam session. The wontons were chubby little flavor bombs. The beef? So tender it probably cried watching romantic comedies. The fish balls, however, tasted a bit... off. Not bad, just confusing--like they were made by someone who's never met a fish but once heard a rumor about them. There was no wait when I arrived, which was great because my legs had fully turned into noodles at that point. Everything was smooth--until the bill. I handed over my mighty $1000 HKD note like a baller, only to be met with horror. Apparently, big bills are the boogeyman here. The cashier pulled a "surprise!" sign from under another sign like it was a magic trick, refusing to take my cash. I offered Macau currency. I offered charm. I nearly offered to do dishes. After a small standoff and some passive-aggressive sighing, she took my money and peace was restored. Final verdict? Food's a strong 4/5. Would I go back? Absolutely. But next time, I'm bringing exact change... and maybe a peaceful offering.
Good wonton noodles but depending on how much access you have to good Chinese food this place may range from pretty good to really good. Worth the wait if you are from an area with only crappy Chinese food but not worth the wait if you are not. Having access to plentiful good Chinese food in LA I'd say it's worth no more than a 20 min wait.

Great foods n poor services!! Just a great wontons noodles soup with $4.50 USD!! Tasty n delicious with strong shrimp paste taste!! Al denté noodles!! Just pretty bad traditional HOng Kong services as usual, never mind but usual happening!! Just take a great foods and never care services that will be fine!! Crowded as usual!!
This place has all the hype. A Michelin guide recommended place for the last two decades. Does it live up to the hype? I think - mostly, it is slightly overhyped. Really it is an ordinary wonton noodle place, very fast paced, no napkins as usual, cash only. Impatient wait staff. Slightly overpriced. You'll be in and out in 15 min. The noodles are fresh made with a bamboo pole and pretty good. Chewy, good consistency. Personally I've never really liked wonton noodles but these are quality. The meat is where they are famous. The wonton balls are HUGE with jumbo prawn inside. I've never seen ones this big and they are good, though the flavour is nothing special. The giant fish ball is good too- homemade from fish. The beef is nothing special. So they get 4 stars because - while good, I kinda expected a constant Michelin place to be better.
Wonton soup tiny place that's a Michelin guide. Can be a wait. Menu is limited 3 soup offerings. I tried the 2 topping with wonton and beef. Portion is big and value priced. It tasted super bland to me. Had to add peppers and chilli oil to give it flavor. Overall was a bit disappointed but if you are into that style of dish then perhaps give it a try. Service is very quick. They only take cash or octopus.
I recently went on a wonton shop hopping mission and this place was a must-try! Compared to the other places I went, their jumbo wontons have more filling inside - more juicy shrimp and more minced pork. Their soup isn't as white peppery as some others but still pretty solid. If you only like wontons without any noodles (净云吞), this is definitely the place to try! You can get either small (4 wontons) or large (6 wontons). Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try their actual egg noodles but another highlight was their dace fish balls (鲮鱼球)!!! I'm not exaggerating when I saw they are probably just a tad smaller than my fists. They are packed with the dace fish flavors, chewy, and delicious with their chili oil!! Most servers will switch to speaking English if you look like you don't understand their initial Cantonese; however the older servers may not be as good about that. But I promise the food is worth it so come thru!!! You may also have to split tables with others but thats a part of the authentic canto experience too!
I have been wanting to try this place for a long time but haven't had a chance ! In my recent visit to HK, I made a point to visit and it did not disappoint! We had wonton noodle and their noodles were so chewy and yet crunchy and the flavor is outstanding !!! They get super busy as soon as they open ! Go early or you have to queue for a long time ! The restaurant itself is very clean and their staff is friendly and smiling and welcoming! I can't wait to come back again for other dishes on the menu ! read more
A very fast paced spot for a good meal at a great price. The seating is very close together and it's very likely that you'll be sharing the space or sitting very close to another party. The menu is fairly short so it's very quick to order and the food also comes out very quickly. It helps if you already know what you want because some of the staff get a little bit frustrated if you're sitting and deciding for too long. You pay at the counter on the way out and their process is so efficient that the line is almost constantly moving. The noodles are very springy and chewy and they give you a very good amount per bowl. The broth is flavorful and it makes for a very comforting meal. read more

There are often several turns for waiting. The waiters of this restaurant are not patient with us while ordering. The dining room is small and crowded. But the seafood style noodles are really worth tasting. I recommend the shrimp noodle and fish ball noodle. read more

One of my favorite wonton spots! Made sure to come back even though I already had breakfast so that I could get a last bowl in before my flight. I'm spoiled by homemade wontons and typically balk at the quality of wontons while eating out but the ones here? I approve. They definitely do not skimp on their filling and the taste is great too. The price point for what you're getting is certainly a value. Hands down will be stopping by whenever I am back in town. read more
Located under the Midlevel Escalators, this noodle shop has reasonable prices and good portions. The servers were friendly and they were flexible when we had to change our order. We got our food very quickly. The noodles were chewy- not over cooked- and the broth was flavorful. The wontons were scrumptious and tender. The sliced pork was just as good and it was definitely worth getting the bowl with both. We had to wait for about ten minutes in line, and part of our group was seated at a separate table with another group (we were a group of 6) as they have limited seating. All in all, we enjoyed this place and would definitely go back! read more
This place is great! Reasonably priced, really good portions, delicious fresh noodles! Came here after eating at Mai's noodles across the street. Wanted to compare the noodle soup from the 2 competing shops and the verdict: this one is waaaaay better! Ordered a bowl of the classic wonton noodle soup and it was so much better than Mak's! Bigger portions, larger bowl. The noodles were softer and bouncy. The wontons were much bigger and tasted better full of large pieces of shrimp! The broth was delicious and had good flavors. The noodles tasted very fresh and well made. Also ordered the steamed collard greens and that was pretty standard. Service was efficient. Prices are waaaay better than Mak's! Highly recommend! read more
Okay. Native Californian here. Multiple Michelin stars hole here. Pretty simple menu. Wonton noodle soup is the go-to. You can't go wrong. A small bowl will get you three wontons and a large will get you five. It was darn delicious. It was probably the best I have had. Bring cash, your own napkin, and your own water. They don't give you ANY of that. A water bottle there will cost you 10HKD. Quick tip, most Asian spots do not provide napkins unless it has been westernized. read more
This place is really overrated to become a Michelin mentioned restaurant. I had so much of a hard time finding this place as the sign has no clear English letter. Outside, I saw a long line that stretch almost all the way to the end of the building block. I noticed the Michelin restaurant posters everywhere. So, I must confess that I had a high expectation. When I arrived, I immediately noticed that the place is really tiny. I was escorted to the back place where it almost looked like a storage place. I had to sit down together at a tiny round table together with other strangers. It was very weird and uncomfortable. The food tasted pretty decent, but it was nothing spectacular. And when I was about to make a payment, I could barely understand what the cashier was saying, nor she understood any English. It is kind of hard to believe a place like this is mentioned by Michelin. read more
I came here the day after I went to Mak's because I love wontons :) There's usually a queue but it moves really fast; they're efficient in getting you in a out as soon as possible. I ordered wonton noodle soup with fish ball. The wontons and fish ball are huge the fish ball was bigger than the wontons! The wontons had large pieces of shrimp. I'm not sure what they put in the fish ball but it wasn't my favorite. I prefer whitefish paste fishballs which are smaller. However that didn't deter me from finishing the noodles and wontons. They weren't as "delicate" as the ones from Mak's but I still enjoyed the flavorful wontons from Tsim Chai Kee. The portions are definitely more filling (I'll have to try the wontons with beef next time) and the bowl size and noodles are enough for lunch to fill you up. read more
Maybe the best wonton noodles I've ever had, both in terms of taste and value. Be prepared to share a table with strangers and eat in close quarters, but trust me, it's worth it. I ordered the "Triple Threat" Wonton Noodles that come with prawn wontons, beef and a huge homemade fish ball. The broth was flavorful without being too salty and with just the right amount of green onions. The noodles had a good al dente texture without being overly soggy. As for the wontons, YUM! They were huge and juicy. The huge homemade fish ball was my personal favorite. I don't think I've ever had a fish ball like that. Add some hot chili, chase with soy milk...pure BLISS. You really can't beat that for ~ $35 HKD. read more
Why does everything in Hong Kong taste so darn good?? Everything here is cheap and delicious, especially the wonton noodles from Tsim Chai Kee!! I came on a weekday during the daytime and was seated and served immediately. My bowl of wonton noodles came out after 5ish minutes. The noodles were springy, not too chewy and tasted very fresh. The soup was piping hot and had a subtle, tasty flavor. It wasn't too salty or bland! The wontons were on some other level...they were HUGE and had nice, big pieces of shrimp in them that tasted so fresh and delicious! They were definitely the best wontons I've ever had!! read more
Met up with an old buddy for lunch and he recommended coming here for noodles. I personally am not a huge fan of wonton noodles but after seeing a few pics, the wifey wanted to check it out. After a quick 5 min walk from the MTR station, we found ourselves lost within the general area. Keep in mind, the numbering system is slightly off but were pointed in the right direction with the help of a local business owner. It was hot as hell so naturally I chose a seat near the front entrance so that the fan would keep blowing air onto me. As I sat down, the first thing I wanted was a cold drink and ordered a soy milk. This place fills up quickly but the turnaround time is quick. Naturally, the wife ordered the wonton and fish ball noodles while I ordered the beef noodles. Not sure why some reviewers mentioned that the beef was chewy as mine was perfectly fine. The wifey loved her bowl of noodles and said that the fish balls were super tasty and had a nice chewy texture unlike anything we could find back in the States. Would definitely head back again in the future but may opt for their dry noodles on a hot day. read more
Salty and MSG-laden soup, but the wontons and the noodles are SO GOOD! Wontons were huge and filled with shrimp. Not the best I've had but they were still really good. The fish balls were even more massive and had such a nice bounce that you look for in fish balls--spongey and flavorful. And the noodles? Perfectly cooked. Had a nice bounce and chew to them. This is something I haven't had in a while, and I am glad to have had it here! Drinks are about $8 HKD, even for a small box of Vita Lemon Tea. read more
We came here as part of a Food Tour around Hong Kong. Our tour guide was from Hong Kong and chose to take us here since this was one of his favorite places to come for wonton soup. There was a line outside but we were able to skip the line since the owner knew our tour guide. The inside of the restaurant is pretty simple and filled with several tables. The food comes quickly and there is a high turnover. This place is known for its wonton soup with comes with thin noodles and tender wontons filled with shrimp. We each got a bowl of the soup, and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely the best wonton soup we've ever had. We also added some of their chili sauce into the soup for some spice. The soup was also a relatively decent portion for how cheap it was. We loved the wonton soup here and would definitely come back! read more
It's the broth that makes this bowl of wanton, fish ball noodle soup taste so good! The broth is that good. The noodle also has a texture that is different than other noodles. It is so subtle to the tongue and tastes buds though, you might miss it if you are gobbling up your noodle bowl too quick. I have had better fish balls, but the broth and noodles are top notch. The wantons are super special. The fish balls are like baseballs and not as special as the wantons. Not sure I can add anything that another reviewer has not already said. The Michelin Stars on the outside of the restaurant indicate the quality food you will find on the inside. Without the stars posted, you might just dismiss this place as simply another noodle shop. If noodles are your thing, it is a worthy stop. There might be a wait, for especially at lunch time, this place is popular and packed. Menu easily understand by those who only speak English. It is across the street from Mak's. Even though Mak's is more well-known, I actually liked Tsim Chai Kee more. In my opinion, it had the best broth and noodles. I ordered it with beef instead of wontons. The slices of beef were awesome. On the other hand, the broth was a little too salty to drink by itself. It was probably because of the beef. I also ordered a yu choy and oyster sauce. It was consistent with the dish I ate at Mak's. Treat your tastebuds to a hearty bowl of noodle soup unlike any other. The noodles are stringy and chewy, the wontons are meaty, and the beef is very tender. But the broth is standout -- a bit sweet, rich in flavor, and so delicious. I honestly have never tasted something like this before. Many times, simple is all you need, and this place knows that. It's got a menu with only a handful of items that are all extremely affordable. No napkins and no water. Come in hungry, get a bowl of noodles in a few minutes, and leave happy. Our Hong Kong Free Tours guide (born and raised in HK) said this was a great example of authentic and delicious Hong Kong lunch food. It was one of our favorite things we ate all vacation. Hopping off the Central-Mid-Levels escalator, we were initially disheartened by the line of 10 or so people outside when we arrived, but then we forgot how fast these small hole-in-the-wall places churn out satisfied customers. We were seated in no time, squishing into the first two seats that were available. After some menu-pointing at Prawn Wonton soup and no more than 5 minutes of anticipation, we were slurping up soft noodles in beefy broth and biting into some seriously superb shrimp wontons. Maybe my one regret was adding chili sauce that was on the table, since while I love spiciness, I ran out of tea and had no luck getting more from the bustling staff.
