Fried fish n eggs
John C.

Out of all of the things we ordered the fried fish was the best. The noodle soup wasn't that great, service wasn't on the ball. Eggs undercooked. Next time I need to check Yelp reviews before trying out. Was disappointed.

Fish ball and fish cake with wide rice noodles in fish soup only HK37 (less than USD$5)

Come here after a night out in LKF because it's open 24/7, accommodates large groups, is cheap, has a wide selection, and is conveniently located. Don't come here if you've got other options expecting a great meal. The fish ball and fish cake fish noodle soup (ffffff) was a great way to end the night. By 230am they had run out of a few dry noodle options.

Used to be a legit good place, 24/7/365, good local food and cheap price. Sounds like a good friend you've known in your teens, always be there and never complain. 4am on Saturday? No worries, Tsui Wah is here. It gives you the extra perks of being extra bright and light up, so you can have your final check to your new-made friends, before you decide if they look the same as they were in the club. Now it has all changed. Always packed with three floors of tourists. Mind you, it's not just mainland Chinese tourists now. Korean are the new force in town. If you spot anyone taking pictures in front of Tsui Wah, good chance they are Korean visitors. Just don't block the front door, bitte. Food is alright, but now overpriced by a mile. Doesn't help much to be a listed company now, huh? Well, it doesn't matter what people say, and we will still come here from time to time right? Maybe that's the charm of Tsui Wah.

Continental Breakfast - Fried Fish Filet, scrambled eggs, baked beans, toasted bun, and coffee
Mackenzie F.

Let me start by saying I am from California. If you are also from the states, you will probably understand the culture shock that some tradional Asian breakfasts can bring. Most of us Westerners aren't accustomed to a savory hot soup for breakfast. If that describes you, and yet you still want to try something new, you may want to order the continental breakfast. It's an Asian spin on a few things you will be familiar with. The fish was delicious and crispy with a golden panko crust. The scrambled eggs were soft set, but still fully cooked. Heaping some eggs in the toasted, buttered bun and drizzling chili oil atop was a nice combination. The baked beans on the side were served cold, a little odd for us, but still edible. A sweet mayo condiments was served along side. I added some chili to this and used this sparingly with my fish. One of my favorite bites was actually a sip. The coffee was rich and creamy. Like 300 calories of condensed milk added to it. Yummy! If you are like our group, avoid the 4 breakfast soups as they are not likely to appeal to you. One of our party ordered squid ham macaroni soup. It was NOT enticing to our Western eyes. In addition he got a sausage and two Sunnyside up eggs. The eggs were severely undercooked with the whites still being translucent. AVOID! Also, the service was quite inattentive. Definitely have to wave or speak up whenever you want something. The aforementioned tried didn't receive his food until 20 minutes after we received ours. All-in-all this place was a mixed bag for us. Some highs, some lows. Probably would try a different restaurant next time, perhaps the crepe place a few doors down.

Good old reliable Tsui Wah is the place most people end their nights after a night out in LKF. Fishball noodle soup and pork soft cartilage noodle soups are old favourites. So here I was at 3.30am Sunday morning with the usual crowd of drunkards and hungry folk thinking of what to order. Their menu selection is ordinarily extensive but by this time of night noodles only. The later you arrive, the less they have. So I went to their famous condense milk and butter crispy buns where there may be more butter than bun. Their dry egg noodles are quite good so got a spicy pork on dried noodles which also came with wonton soup. Great meal and can't complain for a 4am feed. If you come at lunch/dinner (aka normal eating times), again it's a very local hangout. Must try their chicken wings, hainan chicken is pretty good for a HK cafe and you can even get steak!

If you have ever wanted to eat like a Hong Konger, but have been to afraid of those "cha chaan teng" restaurants to do so, then I would recommend you try Tsui Wah as a gentle introduction to HK style food. What you have here, is easy access to a number of HK specialities; sandwiches made with the whitest most unhealthy bread, tea brewed triple strength with lashings of condensed milk, and the liberal use of cheese baked on top of a variety of fish and rice. OK, I joke a little, but this is basically HK food! Tsui Wah does do a good range of local and "continental" dishes, at a very low price. I'm a fan of the grill plates, which for around HKD80, you get chicken, pork and beef steaks on a cast iron skillet, brought sizzling to your table (be careful pouring the gravy, it boils the second it hits the skillet, and you will splatter yourself and fellow diners with Bisto). I also like their excellent range of Malaysian curries, traditional "ho fun" flat noodles, and the afore mentioned seafood rice bakes. Also very popular (but unfortunately not my taste) is the bowls of noodles and soup, with different toppings; fish balls, dumplings, satay beef - it goes on and there is plenty to chose from. Most dishes cost around HKD60-70, I don't think there is anything above HKD80 on their menu. For an introduction to the "cha chaan teng", I would come here first before hanging out where the cabbies eat. The menu has English, and extensive use of photographs. Most of the staff, whilst not particularly good at English, have passable language skills to get by. The environment is garish and neon, but this serves well to distract you from the state of the floors, walls and cutlery. In fairness, these aren't bad, but Amber this is not! Go visit, and tell your mates at home you went "full local" - we won't tell if you don't...

Ambiance/decor-2 Service-2 Food-4 Strikeouts-1/3 For a chain restaurant, this place was not kept up to standards. Despite renovations, this place was just as dirty as the family owned businesses where you would expect not a clean table. Service was on barely on par, not too slow, and maybe a bit of miscommunications in ordering. Nothing special what so ever. Ordered the traditional hainanese chicken, which I thought was delicious, but I was told that the chicken here is pretty mediocre. I guess Toronto just sucks at making a good hainanese chicken dish. Especially with the rice. I was overall satisfied, especially for the bang for buck. This place is open late, good to visit as a late night option!

I arrived in the evening so I was not particularly selective and decided to eat here. The menu was extensive, the restaurant was very busy, and the service was excellent. The food would probably be considered very good in the United States but I think average for Hong Kong. The Tomato soup was excellent, the fish balls with noodles was average and bland, the rice with chicken was average and the Chinese broccoli was above average. The restaurant is reasonably priced, and you can get in and feed in minutes at a reasonable price but the food is average.

where can i buy this cup?!

For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. Their popularity was at an all-time high just before the pandemic and has remained one of Sai Wan's most frequent local eateries. To no one's surprise, the seating and layout are not group friendly and it can be very cramped. Sharing tables is a big possibility, and I'd come here with no more than 3-4 folks. Waiting is a common past time here, so try to aim for a pre-noon arrival. Their stuffed toasts are legendary and are indeed the real deal. The salted egg yolk toast is fun to eat and film, but the taro custard (香芋流沙西多士) is next level good. The lava that flows from within makes this the ultimate dessert item, and should be on everyone's table. Their XO stir fried radish cubes (XO醬炒蘿蔔糕), along with the XO fried rice rolls (XO醬炒腸粉) are two of my favorite items. The dim sum items are fairly standard (especially the shrimp dumplings), but the shrimp stuffed rice rolls are very good. The shrimp toast is not my usual kind of order, but this place definitely specializes in it. The service is warm and very quick with everything: taking orders, bringing food, and getting the check. Prices are not back breaking but it's a little more expensive than other comparable places. Cash is king.

The owners aren't outright friendly, but are certainly warmer than your average cha chaan teng waiter in Hong Kong. The sesame shrimp toast is more delicious than it has any right to be - crisp exterior studded with toasted white sesame, these triangles give way to plump shrimp meat in the middle, and a cute little dish of Kewpie mayonnaise on the side. The signature egg yolk is fun to cut into - giving you some real insta-worthy yolk porn, but is definitely heavy, so consider sharing. But for me, what won my heart was a delicious take on a childhood favorite - radish cakes: Chau Kee's versions are cut up and fried, so that the crisp fry-exterior gives way to a tacky and soft interior. Flavors of shrimp and seafood are present from the XO sauce. The menu is in both Chinese and English and full of pictures, so it's also gweilo-friendly!

I'm down if it's good food! Located in a residential area, I wasn't really expecting too much honestly. But I heard good word about it so why not give it a shot? Wow, for a neighborhood restaurant, this place was bomb! I had some dishes where I never had elsewhere before! We started with the fried pomfret salad. I love the fried fish, juicy, tender and mildly sweet. I wasn't a fan of the salad dressing though. It was like the thousand island from a bottle from the grocery aisle. I wish they make a good dressing. My favorite plate-licking dish was the shrimp angel hair with pumpkin sauce. Pumpkin sauce!? Large, succulent and crunchy shrimp with fresh shredded veggies mixed in sweet and buttery pumpkin sauce. How can you not like that? The flavors were really good and I was going bite after bite until I finished it without even knowing! My second fav was the crispy chicken with apricots and honey mustard sauce served on on a plate of spaghetti and veggies. Honey mustard is my favorite, and to combine that with crispy chicken? What a great idea! The chicken came out crispy and hot and the meat was tender and juicy. Love this dish! We wrapped up our meal with the famous chocolate souffle. Dang! That was good! Piping hot, creamy, sweet, slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside like a snowball! We got the vanilla flavor too but I liked the chocolate one better. The lady owner was there last night and she was bubbly and socializing with all the customers. Friendly and good service overall. Seating was a bit tight so make sure you make a reservation ahead of time or come early. Not only Asians come here, I saw a couple of westerners too enjoying not so authentic but delicious western food!

The cafe inside is very small and crowded whether you go for breakfast or lunchtime. The space is very limited and if you consider yourself taller than the average person in Hong Kong, be very careful when moving through to sit or stand as there are various ceiling heights in the old building. Service is alright and efficient as most HK cha chaan tengs are expected to be however, I didn't like the attitude of one of the servers who brought out my table's meal as it was not what was ordered. She questioned our order and it was very clear that no one in my group ordered it, yet she insisted that we did. After a bit of back and forth, she decided to swap out the meal for the one we actually ordered. The food was A-OK, nothing particularly spectacular. The toasted and buttered bun was decent but didn't have enough butter not toasty char. The macaroni noodle soup was on the bland side. The hot dog and eggs were very typical. The best thing we had were the milk teas. Prices are very normal for Central but would be considered overpriced in other areas of HK. I'm not planning to make a return unless someone requests it specifically or if I only want to grab a milk tea to-go.
