I did not really plan to eat at Mak's Noodle. But seriously Australia Dairy Company next door has this massive line up. I always think there are so much good food in Hong Kong and I would not be lining up for 1 hour to just eat because it is a MUST? Mak's Noodle I was able to get a seat right away when I walked in. Something simple probably the best? I opt for Wonton Noodles. The noodles definitely the star here! Bouncy and chewy and just brought tears to my eyes. The one bite wontons has bouncy shrimps wrapped silky and thin wrapping. Service was fast and friendly. I able to be in and out within 15 minute.

Mak's noodles are top of the line! Big thanks to Ivan M. of Seattle for his recommendation. I ordered Wonton & Pork Dumpling w/Noodles in Soup and it was bomb. I didn't know wontons could be so good! They had a skin so delightfully thin that I could sorta see the yummy fillings- shrimp, pork, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots hanging out. Then the noodles were so springy and thin with such an enjoyable texture and the broth- so good! The serving size may seem small compared to American standards but it's just perfect and filling enough. This place is a Hong Kong must! **Free tea. **Tables fit 2-3 people max. Bigger groups should split up. **Their menu has English descriptions. **Walkable from Hotel Madera.

Shameful food and service. Ordered the braised pork lo mein and it was barely a half portion. The lo mein with shrimp roe was noodles with a packet of shrimp powder on top of it. The wonton wasn't bad, but the portion was more of an appetizer. All dishes come with a side of rude service as well. Will not go back!

For lunch, I didn't want to choose between Mak's Noodle and Mak Man Kee. They're both on the same street, so why not both? Wonton noodle crawl it is. Strange for an initial opinion but the noodle bowl is prettier than Mak Man Kee. It doesn't really matter to me, but more of an observation. The decor, however, does matter a bit more and it's nicer here. The place is clean and more comfortable. Given that Mak's Noodle is a chain, this location wasn't crowded and busting like Mak Man Kee. The noodles themselves are very good: firm and cooked right. The wonton skin is delicate and slippery. The filling has a good amount of shrimp and has a nice touch of white pepper with the pork part of the filling. The broth shines and differentiates itself with Mak Man Kee as this shrimp-based broth is more flavorful. Overall, it's one of the best wonton noodle soups I've had. At 36 HKD (about $4.50 USD), it's not dirt cheap but I don't expect that anymore. The portion is about the same as MMK and much smaller than here in the States. So that's why I can go to both places for one meal. Service is what you'd expect: short and not sweet. However, it's efficient and the servers seem to be decent.

Their noodles are bouncy and tasty, so good! Can't get noodles like this anywhere outside of Hong Kong. The wontons are filled with shrimp, a bit salty for my taste. Would recommend for the noodles for sure!

Wonton Noodle Soup!! Back in LA (the 626) there are many HK cafes that serve wonton noodle soup but none of them compare to the one's here. I didn't realize that Mak's Noodle and Mak Man Kee were right next to each other but Mak's Noodle is the shop I had bookmarked so that's where we went. Upon walking up there was no line and we were seated right away. Kind of tight inside (we had to split to 2 tables because we had too many bags). My mom and I split a bowl of the Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup and an order of Seasonal Veggies. My dad and sister got their own bowls of something. Our food came out very fast. My uncle had told me that the bowls were small but this bowl was SUPER small. In the US a bowl of wonton noodle soup can last me 2 meals - the bowls here are perfect for my portion size but definitely on the smaller side for my sister and dad. Definitely not made for sharing unless you order another item on the menu. By the way, everyone in your party has to order $30 HK minimum. Moving on to the actual food, AMAZING. The noodles were much thinner than what i'm used to and I loved them! They had a nice springiness to them! The shrimp wontons (4/bowl) were small (about the size of a quarter) but very flavorful and the wonton skin was nice a thin. The broth was light and not too salty or oily which was nice (some of the bowls i've had in the US have too much MSG; no thank you). The veggies were standard (my mom thought they were a little over cooked). I'd definitely recommend Mak's Noodle to friends. I would also like to try their competitors at some point! Main take-away: The wonton noodle soups in the US will never be the same.

Reminiscent of a grandmotherly lunch, prepared meticulously with love!

A simple bowl of noodles with elements that come together to create a complex flavor. Beef brisket was tender and not lacking in any way (both in taste and amount). Broth was rich and flavorful, savoured to the last drop! Noodles were the right level of springy and enhanced instead of overpowering the broth like the average bowl of beef noodles. Would recommend for small groups as there are few tables and each has a maximum capacity of 4 individuals. Come at a non-peak hour or be prepared to wait!

If I could, I would rate this Mak's as 3 1/2 stars. I had some time by myself one afternoon, so I decided to head over to this Mak's (relatively close to the train station). There was about 6 parties ahead of me, but I was seated in about 15 minutes. As you can imagine, the place it pretty tiny. They ended up seating me at a really small table for two: of course, right after I ordered, they seated another woman across from me (don't come here if you have personal space issues, for sure). I went ahead and just ordered a bowl on wonton beef brisket noodles. It came out in less than 5 minutes, and it was definitely on the small side. However, the wontons tasted fresh, and the noodles as great texture. My small bowl was about 50 HKD, so it definitely isn't cheap. However, what better way to get acquainted with Hong Kong than to head to a tiny noodle shop and order some wonton noodle soup?

My mom absolutely loves this place and shared it with me when I visited HK. The wonton noodles are super bouncy and I love the wontons. The location is ideal.

We met friends for dinner and actually went to the wrong restaurant, for there is another Star of Canton just up the street at I Square too and we went there by accident. This restaurant has an expansive and striking view of the harbor, high ceilings, big glassy chandeliers and is very spacious. There is a stage and so much room that it seems like the appropriate spot to have a banquet or wedding. It is one of those large Chinese restaurants that serves a lot of people and thus the soft goods (carpet, chairs, linens, etc) seem warn and need updating. Although I did not do the ordering and did not pay the bill, in addition to special orders of hairy crabs at an additional cost, we had a set dinner with like 7 courses for around $400HKD (which seemed like a great value, knowing all the delicious food we had). The set included their highlighted dish of Braised Whole Japanese Oma Abalone, in addition to marinated sea cucumbers, shrimp, sticky rice, a great soup with bean curd on top and although small and at the very end, a seasame rice ball that was really spectacular & a party in your mouth. Found in 1998, Star of Canton insists the tradition of the canton dishes with less oil, less salt, no MSG and no artificial colour. I like that and it is a niche in a sea of Chinese restaurant options. We had a good experience and liked the ambiance of the place, so we would reccomend and absolutely go back.

We did not know it was a 2 star Michelin restaurant, and I was a bit apprehensive at the beginning, because we did not want to spend too much money on food on this trip. Upon our request, we were seated right in front of the Harbour view and were able to see the light show that start around 8pm. The most beautiful view of HK at night! We opted not to order the duck, which needs to be ordered 24 hour in advance and although I am sure quite delicious is quite pricy (HK$1,438+10%). Reservation in this place is a must! Highlights were the Wok-fried Wagyu with Green Peppers, Mushrooms and Garlic, Wok-seared Chicken Fillet with Lemon Sauce The server was so kind as to give us half servings so we could "sample" some of the more expensive items, add fried rice for substitution with the meat dishes and free desert. This flexibility in providing half portion and substitution is something i've rarely experience in a Michelin restaurant. Overall, we payed $US240 (1,900 Hong Kong Dollar) which includes the 10% service charge for two people for a michelin 2 star restaurant for an unforgettable meal! If I return to HK, I will definitely come back and try their dim sum.
