First time walking around central, we decided to make our way to this Michelin spot for bbq meats. Surprisingly, it was open even though Yelp showed it was closed on Sundays. We were able to share a table with other patrons, since it was busy. Despite the awards, it's a no frills, hole-in-the-wall joint and nothing fancy. ***OUR PICKS*** ROASTED GOOSE LO MEIN ~ It was flavorful, but not salty and it wasn't gamey. Good flavor, but you don't get a lot of meat. And we were expecting a soup to go with this dish, but didn't get any. Noodles were done right with a crisp like texture. 4/5 BBQ PORK RICE ~ It was very tender and tasty, though it was more on the lean side. Still, it was good. 4/5 I felt their prices are higher and portions are smaller than most bbq spots due to their Michelin star status.

Crowded indoor space, but everyone is accustomed and accommodating. Service is super friendly, and the food came out really quick! We tried: - Roast Pork, Crispy Pork & Roast Goose over dry noodles - Roast Goose Chest over dry noodles - Soy Sauce Chicken over rice Everything was tender and delicious. I was most surprised by the roast goose chest (breast) - this cut has no bone, and is leaner than the leg. I thought it was delicious, and will definitely eat again!

At Yat Lok, they specialize in siu mei (roasted meats) specifically roast goose. The meats are barbecued on a spit over wood. You can get a set with an assortment of meats to sample them all. Roast Goose: Duck, duck, GOOSE! Roast goose is fattier, juicier, and larger than roast duck. The meat is so rich and tender, definitely a premium offering to be enjoyed for a special occasion. The grease will probably roll down your chin. Charsiu: I really enjoyed the char siu here. There's a nice pink smoke ring showing evidence of its nice smoky aroma. The succulent pork shoulder has a pleasant sweet and savory flavor. The edges are a little crispy with a sticky glaze and a hint of spices for a meat candy feel. Roast Pork: The pork belly (siu yuk) is firmer, saltier, and fattier than the charsiu. The skin is crunchy and crackling. Like many HK no frills establishments, there are no napkins, so many people bring their own. Seating is limited, so expect to be seated in the same table with strangers. It's also cash only. A line formed while we were inside. A dozen people were lined up on the raised narrow sidewalk along the wall. You may need to show up a bit earlier than your preferred meal time.

Wonderful experience. The roasted goose is really really good. A definite must have. They suggested the combo of goose, crispy pork and roast bbq pork. We ordered dry noodles and noodles with soup. We love places like this. It's pure flavor with no frills. Their goose is Micheline starred. Service was also good. Ambiance is typical of a busy small Chinese hole in a wall restaurant. Be prepared to share a table with strangers.

Roast goose plus char siu. Kind of small.

This is a _famous_ place. Line out the door and they have a Michelin star. The line moves quickly though - if you are 2-3, you should get sat quickly. If you don't want to wait, get take out. They pack everyone in - to every nook and cranny possible. I have to say I don't find this place worth the hype. The BBQ is not bad but honestly the price - at $80 for a double meat over rice - this is CAD$15 and for that I can get a bigger and better portion in Vancouver. The portion is small. The char siu is good but kind of lean and the flavour isn't even as rich as HK BBQ master in Vancouver which I honestly think is better. The roast goose is good, but I didn't find it really outstanding which you would expect a Michelin star place to be. $228 for a double portion of take out - not that big - is way too rich and seems way more than what I would pay in Vancouver. I find that a bit outrageous. Sorry, but I would skip.

I had seen all the hype about Yat Lok so I made sure to visit while I was in Hong Kong, and the roasted goose did not disappoint. In typical Hong Kong fashion, the restaurant is small and crowded, and you will most likely share tables with other guests. It is very no frills, but that is part of the experience. We ordered the two person combo, which comes with roasted goose and barbecue pork, along with a dry noodle and a noodle soup. Everything was phenomenal and incredibly satisfying. The goose was rich and flavorful, and the pork was tender and delicious. The only drawback is the price. For such a simple setting, it is on the higher end, and our bill came out to about $60 USD

This place was recommended by a friend of mine. And the dishes were not disappointed. I have the roast goose (the lower half) which was the best section. BBQ pork was cooked at the right temperature and tasted good. We also had the veggie with bean curb sauce. The place was small and be prepared to share your table when it gets busy. The service is attentive and polite.

If you're coming here to be treated like a princess and eat comfy, don't come here. If you want awesome goose and char siu, this is your spot. I came alone and was put at a table with other people who were also alone/in twos. Service was efficient but very hands off. Bottom line- food is amazing.

Overrated. Was it good? Yes. Is there alot of better alternatives? 100%. You can find alot of better places serving the same dishes all around hong Kong. They seat you together and it gets very cramped in here. Cash only

Located on one of the very slanted streets of Hong Kong. This place has been Michelin recommended for I don't even know how long. Very busy on a Monday afternoon. The food was very good. I got an oil chicken lo mein and quarter roast goose. I thought the flavoring was on point but my gf said without rice or noodles the goose is very salty but the skin is amazing. I give 4 stars because the place is so cramped it's hard to sit and there's nowhere to put your bags or jackets if needed. You're basically touching the back of the person behind you. Also the place was messy. The trash was piled in buckets in front of the kitchen with cardboard put down because it was wet. Overall good food but uncomfortable atmosphere in my opinion.

During our short time in Hong Kong, we knew we wanted to try some amazing BBQ so we came to Yat Lok! While this place has a slew of Michelin stars, it's very much no frills with solid food and assertive service. When we arrived at Yat Lok, there was a long line going down the block. However, they are very good about getting customers in and out, so we only had to wait maybe around 20 minutes before we were squeezed in at a shared table. My fiance and I tried three different plates of food -- roast goose drumstick over rice, BBQ pork / crispy pork over dry noodles, and roast duck over dry noodles. The meats were good but I thought the roast goose was a bit too tough for my liking. Ultimately, my favorite was definitely the BBQ pork out of all the different meats we tried.

Rather than visiting the overcrowded main, Michelin-starred Yat Lok location in Central, we searched out this unassuming spot located inside a mall in West Kowloon. The set menu pairing of 1-2 roast meats of choice with rice looked mighty appealing. On the first visit (yes we went twice), I had Crispy Pork and Rice and then a Whole Goose Leg and Rice (179 HKD) on the next visit. DIVINE! Pork was luscious and with ultra crispy skins. Duck was fatty and rich, but they gave a ton of plum sauce to pair. Cheap enough and pure comfort. There's enough open seating around the mall to squeeze into too. The quintessential Cantonese BBQ here is hard to beat plus it was hassle-free experience. Easy pickings for some ultra premium roast meats which cannot be missed!

Best restaurant for me in Hongkong! The roasted goose was the best I had!! Location: It is located along Stanley Street! You will notice the restaurant because of it's long line. The interior is very crowded and prepare to sit with other people. Service: most of them speaks English. They are fast and you have to be fast also to order. I didn't felt rush eating. You can pay cash or credit card. Food: Everything was good! I wish I can come back here and order everything all over again. ROASTED GOOSE: the best goose I had! The skin was so crispy and the meat was soft and flavorful. It was perfect with the steamed rice. DUMPLING SOUP: the dumplings are made fresh including the noodles that come with it. The soup base is refreshing and tasty. MILK TEA: first time I had nai cha and it was so good! I wish I can had a gallon of it. Lol Price rating: 8/10. I paid $40 for my meal. Quite pricey but everything was delicious. I will definitely come back here and try their other food. Get the roasted goose!!

Fuk Loi Kui? F that. It's not what you think it is…read more It's the Cantonese pronounciation of the restaurant 福來居, but to make it more confusing it has another name embedded in as 福來居(牛記)海鮮飯店 (Ngau Kee) Seafood Restaurant. There's something about this place that gives me a "je ne sais quoi" kind of vibe. And that is, there is some intangible quantity and quality, that really makes this place totally awesome, provided you have the right minded set of dining companions with you, who share a love of great no nonsense local food. If you want killer stir fry in the hood kind of eats, with a decent seafood selection that is not entirely off the wall expensive, yet full of local flavor, FLK is a very sound choice. It is within very easy walking distance from Prince Edward MTR station, and is very near the roasties shop famous for roast crispy skin pig (still using charcoal) 永合隆飯店 Wing Hap Lung Restaurant. Started off with a bottle of ice cold Tsing Tao. I forgot how large the bottles in Hong Kong are. The Tsing Tao's in the states at Chinese restaurants are generally dwarf size bottles in comparison. So if you have 4 or more in your party, one bottle is good to start. They chill the glasses, a little extra attention to detail to make your "Cantonese izakaya" experience better. Too many good things on the menu, FLK has this dai pai dong esque vibe, and while it is indoors, the atmosphere and food is close enough that you can have an awesome time in here. 豉油王煎中蝦 - soy sauce supreme (Maggi) pan fried medium prawns. Incredible umami and flavor, but where are the heads?? Even the shells can be eaten! 薑蔥桶蠔 - ginger scallion stir fried oysters. A touch oily, but these are to be expected. Really awesome otherwise! Oysters are either from Canada or United States. 清蒸瓜子斑 - steamed melonseed grouper (wild fish). We arrived close to 8 pm, and by then the seafood selection from the styrofoam tanks were dwindling. At most maybe 3 to 4 kinds of live fish, and this melonseed grouper 瓜子斑 is certainly not a cheap specimen....but cheaper than having a kinki shioyaki at a local Japanese eatery! An extremely solid choice, well executed. The flesh came off the bones with ease. This is why when you travel to HK, eating fresh seafood is a must. It's a far cry from the farmed American fish at Cantonese restaurants in the USA. 上湯蒜子大豆苗 - large pea sprout with garlic in superior broth. Really hard to go wrong with this prep. Stir frying uses more oil, so this approach is healthier. 豉油王炒麵 - soy sauce supreme stir fried noodles. Haha back to stir frying because we want to equalize the guilt! When having seafood like this, ending the meal with a killer plate of carbs is a must, and soy sauce supreme noodles 豉油王炒麵 is a solid choice. It is also perhaps the de facto method of testing wok hay (the other tester dish is beef chow fun, but we're at a seafood restaurant). This rendition is very solid and intense. It's a touch on the dry side which is what I prefer. Oh, I believe they stock Yu Kwen Yick chili sauce, so you can ask for a little bit to make the noodle experience jump a few notches. Fruit platter for dessert (included in the meal), which was an extremely nice touch. Watermelon, pineapple, and papaya. Refreshing even on a mildly chilly January evening. Great food that soothes and satisfies. Even recommended by local celebrity Chef Leung of Hoi King Heen on his FB page!
