I am fortunate to be hosted to meals by my clients. Inevitably, I'm asked what do I like to eat. Well, when in HKg, Chinese, of course. Growing up near Oakland Chinatown, I ate at many restaurants. My favorite dish was Pork hom-yu. Also known as Chinese Pork Hash, it's ground pork butt mixed with bamboo shoots, sometimes mushrooms, a stinky fish (fermented) on top. Steamed, it's delicious on hot rice.
So when asked what I like, I say, "Pork hom-yu." The response it always laughter. It's considered "peasant food!"
