Hands down the best crispy chicken I've had anywhere. The skin was so crispy it was like biting into a thin piece of delicious glass. Normally that wouldn't sound terribly appetizing, unless you factor in the explosion of juicy, meaty flavor that accompanies said bite. Just heavenly. I've had Peking duck that hasn't tasted this good. Every dish was made with exquisite care and attention to detail. Spring rolls were also super crispy and fresh. The translucent shrimp dumplings were topped with edible gold leaf... The mango dessert was super unique - ice cold mango pomelo sago (楊枝甘露). The little "dewdrops" made of a type of rice were so curiously crunchy that at first I had no idea what to make of it, but ultimately enjoyed every little morsel. Each dish was pretty memorable and over the top (as was the $$). By the end of our meal, I was broke. By wallet and by tastebuds. I'm sure I'd ever be able to eat dimsum again without comparing it to this particular experience. The only thing I was not impressed with was the service. The staff were not warm and were borderline rude. I chalked it up to them being impossibly harried. I can't say I blame them as they must've been very busy preparing for the dinner rush. As it was, we were extremely lucky to have come and gotten a table without having to reserve it ahead of time. That said, it's almost imperative to arrive with a reservation. Otherwise the wait can be well over an hour long, or so we were told. I'm unsurprised as it is a restaurant that's acquired a few Michelin stars under its belt. Much as I loved it, I don't think I'll visiting again any time soon. There are just too many other restaurants to explore and try in Hong Kong!

As Open Rice is the Yelp alternative of Hong Kong, this review may very well go unnoticed, but I don't really care. I have been coming here since 2004- every year the same course for 15+ years and counting. (With the exception of three years lest for Covid) I was five when I first tried the Baked Crab Shell and it remains as immaculate as it was then. An argument can be made for my nostalgia factor- so I welcome anyone to experience it for themselves.

This place is located on the lower level in the Conrad, Hong Kong and its top notch! You will need a reservation and they you need to preorder the Peking duck 24 hours in advance. The layout is very formal and the wait staff is dressed in traditional Chinese out fits. They are friendly and very attentive. The food was very delicious, the veggies are cooked perfectly and maybe some of the best I've had anywhere else. It's cooked, but firm and crips, with gentle seasoning. The fried rice was also very delicious, it was pale but you can taste it he stir fry- if that makes sense. Now for the one item that was hands down the best we had in HK, the crispy chicken, it was outstanding, skin was like glass and just perfectly cooked, moist in the inside. I forgot, I also had the seafood hot and sour soup, which was so flavorful, it was like a party in my mouth, so many flavors that were all cohesive. If you are around the main island in HK, make a reservation and try the food.

A great Chinese restaurant located inside the Conrad Hotel. I was there for my uncles birthday tonight, and we ordered a set menu (see pic for ref). It's an expensive restaurant for Chinese food, but it serves traditional quality Cantonese food, given the ambiance and service, I'd say it's reasonable comparing to some other 5 star hotel restaurants. The place is good for old people because it's bright so they can read the menu and see each other's faces. I hear this comment from my mom a lot these days so I take that as an important factor for that generation! Okay I'm just gonna let the picture do the talking now.

This shouldn't remind you of an elementary school playground - but that's what unsupervised children did to Hong Kong's Golden Leaf.

Hong Kong's Golden Leaf should not remind me of Chuck-E-Cheese. But that's exactly what how a herd of unsupervised children ruined the experience. The restaurant doesn't seem kid-friendly. It's stylish and quiet with a strong menu. The seafood dumpling in broth was filled with yummy chunks of crab meat while the baked barbecue pork fund had the right combination of tangy barbecue meat and honey. Food-wise the only disappointment came from the XLB which seemed to vomit its soup before you could remove them from the bowl. But that whole culinary experience was ruined by a zoo of loud children who needed to dine at McDonald's or better yet a play pen at home.

This time it was hot, humid, and rainy around 11:20 am and our party of 4 was able to get a table easily though it was crowded again once we were finished. This place is so famous we saw people come straight from the airport with all their luggage! Portions are very good and probably too small for most people but I loved the size. Goose and Soy Sauce Chicken: They are most known for their roast goose which has a complex and layered seasoning different than other HK roast duck/goose places. This is my go to dish, this time it tasted great but my portion of goose was super small and I split it with a friend to not get too full so it was even smaller. We also ordered the same dish with noodles and roast pork with soy chicken, both the people who had this never had Yat Lok before and totally cleared their plates, don't forget to mix each bite with some of the oil scorched green onions!

The pretense is non-existent and locals (including myself!) seem to love it here. So like many noodle spots in HK, this place is fairly small. No big tables for 5+ but quite a few small'ish round tables that are good for solo eats or the invaluable food companion. The aroma coming from the semi-open kitchen should be enough inspiration for folks to know what they want upon arrival, but just in case they have the menus outlined along the wall. An easy way to start? Try a wonton and beef brisket with your choice of noodles. The wontons are somewhat pillowy in texture and full of flavor while the beef brisket is braised well while maintaining a perfectly chewy bite. The noodle variety is good, with egg / rice noodles winning over the crowd though I feel the e-fu noodles take the cake. Lastly, do not sleep on the beef tendon. It's practically butter when done right. Chui Hing does fancy itself as a HK style cafe, so other dishes like congee, fried fish skin, fried rice, may appear on the menu, focus on what to stack in your bowl instead. The staff is really helpful and welcoming.

The prices are also very reasonable. I bought beef ball and wonton, wonton noodle soup. I didn't ask to have the noodles separate, but they still retained a good amount of chew by the time I got back up top the hotel. You can pay a little extra anywhere to ask them pack separate. The wontons are ok, beef balls are good, noodles are good, soup okay. The milk tea wasn't very strong but has a nice authentic back flavor. Everything was ready in under 5 minutes. Very good for takeout!

The bathroom was also super weird, narrow and awkward and so dark that you can't see anything. Of the 2 stalls only one of them had toilet paper in a little roll that wasn't even properly attached to the toilet paper holder. The overall vibe is loud, "club-like," and kind of ratchet, there was a table quite far away from us but the customers were so clearly drunk and loud that the entire restaurant could hear them. We haven't even gotten to the food-- which was below average all around. We had pre-ordered the typhoon crab in advance and it was very expensive, was so over-seasoned, and the crab was not fresh at all. The bbq roast pork (char siu) was okay but incredibly oily and we couldn't finish it. The only passable entree was the fish, but even that was just a steamed fish and nothing to write home about. The service was okay, nothing spectacular but polite enough. The other nice thing was that we got these cute little mah jong desserts and I liked that the outside wall of the restaurant was decorated in mah jong pieces. But overall, this restaurant was my least favorite during our Hong Kong trip and it's just overhyped.

Service is friendly and relatively efficient. But for this price point and the coveted Michelin star, I would expect more. The food quality is so-so. The chicken wings were tender but lacking in depth of flavor. Just salt and a ton of chili peppers. The char shu roasted pork was ok. It wasn't as greasy as others but it was also a bit dry. It was really no better than any other roasted pork we found at random restaurants all over HK. The crispy cheong fan noodles were a bit greasy but flavorful and different. Let's talk about pricing. We went on a Sunday night and we booked early so we did not have a minimum spend. But it seems any bookings now have an 800HKD/pp minimum. They slap a 10% service charge on everything and they basically require you to buy an 88HKD bottle of water. Sorry, they're just not that good.

It's a well recognized, popular place in central Hong Kong, located by Victoria Harbour. I had heard about this place from before visiting Hong Kong. Tim Ho Wan, which is a one Michelin star rated famous dim sum place, was at the top of my list for Dim sum but we couldn't make time for it based on our sight seeing itinerary. When we got here, there was a wait but the line was moving fast. You have to mention to the front door receptionist about how many people you have in your party and you get a number. Once your number is called, you get seated. Once seated, a server comes and places plates and silverware and offers you water and tea. Tea is complimentary. I have heard that some places in hong kong charge you for tea while you are under the impression that it's complimentary. The way it works for ordering dim sum items here is that servers constantly are around pushing carts full of variety of food items. You with flag them down or when they come by your table area, you tell them what and how much you want of the foods they have on their cart. There's a list of items on the side of the cart to tell you what all they have in that cart. Once you are given what you wanted, the server marks on your bill what you got and how much of it. Later, you take that bill to the cashier and pay. We ate a lot of variety of foods. Dumplings, buns, fried rolls, roasted pork pieces, and mango oriented dessert items. It was all delicious and good. We loved it. It was worth the visit. This place is good for anyone (locals and tourists). It's in a nice setting. The restaurant room looks like a banquet hall room with white cloth tables, chandeliers and servers in uniforms. Go check this place out. I highly recommend it. It's worth eating their dim sum because it's really tasty and good.

It's a classic Dim Sum place with both ordered food and carts that go around. The food is a mixed bag -- for instance, the pig blood wasn't fresh and the chicken feet wasn't steamed tender enough, but the Chang fun and dumplings were wonderful.
