It looked more like a take out kind of place but we saw tables in the back and started to enter the shop, but the floor was so greasy, we were seriously thinking about making a 180° and skip this place. I don't know if it was the look on our faces or that we were a bit better dressed then the uncles in their white tanks with legs propped up on stools or what, but the kind lady proprietor suggested we eat at their "nicer atmosphere" dining room a few doors down. The dining room greeted us with nice A/C and floors our shoes had better grip on. The food is ordered here and they will prepare the soup, noodles, drinks, etc. but all the siu mei still comes over from the other shop. The roasted meats we're tender and tasty, no lie. I'd say even skip all those starchy fillers and go straight for the roasted proteins. The portions here are very generous and we felt a little guilty leaving some pieces uneaten. Hong Kong definitely has no shortage of siu me shops and I'm glad the tasties they offer remain classic and unchanged. Looking forward to finding new gems.

The goose was DRY and very tough (read - chewy). There was very little taste even with the generous duck Au jus on the plate. For all the hype, I am not really sure what I was supposed to ooh and ahh about... I will give them credit of crispy skin... but I am not here for Peking duck. Pack your explanations away when visiting this famed establishment to save the eventual disappointment of food and rudeness of the staff.

The decor was nothing fancy, but spacious and comfortable. The buffet was a grand total of $185, with the 10% included. Now, I'm not usually a fan of buffets because I'll be guaranteed to overeat, and my overstuff stomach now is proof. I haven't been to a BBQ buffet ever, but I was quite impressed with the selection. Firstly, we were served tea as promptly as we were seated. The selection of meats ranged from all cuts of beef, chicken, pork, sausages and seafood such as fish, squid, shrimp, cuttlefish. You really couln't complain about the meats selection. The veg selection was much smaller in comparison, I would've loved to see more, but in actuality, I probably wouldn't have eaten that much anyway. The sides selection was quite good. With the Korean sides such as anchovies and beansprouts, but also a few Chinese options like tofu, potatos, chicken feet, noodles and Chinese veg. The desserts were mostly of the traditional Chinese sort - with mango sago, glutinous rice balls, sweet potato soup, grass jelly, and papaya and white fungus. The papaya and fungus hit the right spot for me. I wish I was hungrier as I would have definitely eaten more if I could. By dessert time, I was also feeling a slight discomfort in my stomach, and didn't get to try as many desserts as I'd liked. Everything was good, but the only reservations I had was about some of the meat. It gave me the impression that it may have sat out there for a while, as pools of bloody water was collecting at the bottom. And when we were cooking it, stuff oozed out of it that was indication about their having been defrosted. I avoided the chicken just in case. But in general all their meats were very well marinated. I didn't try their sushi as it wasn't in the prettiest form, but I saw a lot of other guests having them. I'd definitely recommend you go if you're famished, you will get a full belly for sure! But for me, I think I'd rather go to an a la carte place and be sure I'm getting really fresh and premium cuts, and not have the time limit of 1.5 hours to eat (which is plenty really but for a buffet, you feel rushed!)

This location is inside the New Town Mall in Tsuen Wan, on the 2nd floor. The restaurant is not big, but enough for everyone to sit comfortably. To save space, all of the utensils are inside the drawers of each table. So if you don't know where they are, now you know. As a Cantonese cafe, you pay at the front of the restaurant before you leave. The price point is a little higher than regular local cafes, but still cheaper than Tsui Wah. Also, the quality of food does match the price that you are paying. So it's quite fair. Some of my favorite dishes, BBQ Pork and Roasted Duck combo, Soy Sauce Chicken, and Sweet and Sour Pork. I suggest ordering a combo since it comes with soup or drink, a side of rice, and a side of veggie. Since Hong Kong has lots of British influence, the afternoon tea option almost exist anywhere. At Tai Hing, the dishes are at a discounted price during afternoon tea time, which is around 2:30 to 5pm. My tip to you, go during afternoon tea time for a discount, but just go anytime to try it out. I know I will again.

Generally comes with pork chops, BBQ pork, meatballs, cheesy sausages, regular large sausages, corn, sweet potatoes, chicken, and a few more things. All the food is wrapped in sealed packages so it's a lot cleaner than other places where you grab the food yourself from refrigerators. These sets also come with the tongs, plates, tissues, utensils, scissors, and other items that you may need. Sets also come with a water and a beverage, usually a soda so for a 5-person set it comes with 5 bottles of water and 5 drinks. Environment: The place is outside but fully covered so it's not an issue if it's raining. They also have strong fans there in case it is quite warm. You also have a view of the water, and there is a bit of open space where kids bring the bikes and can ride around. They also have some dart machines for those that want to play. Prices: With the sets, and even adding on a little bit of food, I generally end up paying about $150.

Though my puns are bad, Goobne isn't. And with this being one of several locations in HK, you can always get your fried chicken on. They look a lot like Japanese rolls at first glance but the ingredients are mainly cooked like rice, tempura shrimp, fried dumpling skin, veggies, etc. They certainly bring out the Korean flavor with the special Korean sauce as well. To me, this place not only offers delicious food but all the food are very colourful and pleasing to the eyes. I understand that it is also very packed during lunch hour but guess what? I can't tell you how many times I've been back for the same $65 Stone Pot Rice dish, enough for the waiters to know my order before I sit down. When I'm not sure what to eat - Stone Pot Rice, too lazy to cook - Stone Pot Rice, Hmmm should I try something else? No - Stone Pot Rice. That's a lie. I've tried a couple other dishes and they weren't bad; Sweet and sour chicken with rice, and sizzling beef and enoki mushrooms with rice. The chicken dish would be great save for the bones in each and every little morsel making it more of a mission than an enjoying experience. The sizzling beef is good, no complaints on this dish. But when compared to the Stone Pot Rice, it's crispy rice and tradition Korean sauce there's simply no question. Even listening to the same ten songs on repeat for the past three months hasn't stopped me from returning - in fact I think it's helping me learn to speak Korean.

Like any of restaurant in the neighborhood, seating is tight. The government restrictions over the last couple of years have made it even tighter, resulting in discounted delivery through various local platforms. Indoor dining is back again, but one never truly knows when a future shutdown is happening. The food has remained high end, seasonal, and completely different from the usual dining options in HK. Whether it's been seasonal truffle tofu-toasts, carbonara infused tteokboki, or their winter friendly Korean style sashimi (bang-eo hwae), it's all very good. A personal favorite is their uni rice, which is quite modest in portion size (#2) but straight bangin' in flavor and texture. And unlike many other Korean restaurants, they have a nice Italian selection of wine that pairs quite well with the dishes. While it's been marketed as a fusion establishment, they also do a very good job in representing traditional options as well. Their bossam ssam plate with samgyupsal (pork belly) is tasty and while not always available, jajangmyun is a nice comfort food option. While I no longer live in Hong Kong to enjoy them, I still applaud their efforts from afar. We ordered: Marinated Tofu Salad (Lotus root, purple sweet potato, apple): Lotus root was deep fried which provided a crispy contrast in texture to the soft tofu, apple and purple sweet potato gave it a hint of sweetness Drunken Clams (Rice wine Makgeolli, garlic, lemon zest, chili): Clams were cooked perfectly and we were so happy we got this. Kimchi pork pancake (minus the pork): I'm ALWAYS a fan of kimchi pancake. Even though the pancake could stand to be a teeny bit more crispy at the ends, I loved the kimchi flavor. Brussels Sprouts (Korean dwaenjang paste, almonds, peanut butter): This was stir fried and not roasted as I originally thought it would be. I'm not really a fan of stir fried brussels sprouts but it was interesting with the peanut butter taste which I could barely detect because the dwaenjang paste was stronger. The dishes here were more tapas size and I'm glad we ordered that many dishes. Service was on point and friendly. Moyo is a small and cozy restaurant (you're almost elbow to elbow) with a typical tiny bathroom. A definite place I'll need to try again for the kimchi disco fries and Korean Fried Chicken (sorry Alex, I'll not bring you next time, maybe someone else who is a carnivore).

Go early otherwise you would be expecting a long wait. The crispy chicken at this place is good, but for some reason I felt it was not as good as the Tsimshatsui branch. The grapefruit smoothie is a nice accompaniment to the crispy chicken. Slight bitterness from the grapefruit counters the chicken fat, making you feel the chicken is not that greasy or stomach feeling bloated. Will definitely be back.
