While the chicken is good and getting the meal is a quick and relatively healthy swap for when I don't feel like cooking. I'm a big fan of their baguettes, the chicken sandwich that comes on the baguette as well as just buying a couple of loaves if I feel like splurging on eating carbs. The sandwich is a tasty well prepared little thing-it kind of reminds me of the mini subs that Blimpy's used to have but packed with a a lot of chicken and veggies. The potatoes are also a favorite side dish of mine but a few people have said it's a little too greasy because it's cooked in chicken juice. The only real complaint I have is that the servings are usually pretty small-like most places in HK. I end up buying the dinner for four deal for two people.

On the weekends, 1/4 chicken + 2 sides is priced at HKD $86 (CAD $15). Weekday lunch sets include 1/4 chicken + 1 side + drink for HKD $68 (CAD $12). They also take Octopus. I was kinda surprised at the price discrepancy between locations though. I recently moved so this Sai Ying Pun La Rotisserie isn't very accessible to me anymore. I'm still close to Wan Chai, but that one bumps its lunch special price to HKD $78. I know that area is a work-centric, rich expat-filled area, but I'm an expat on a budget!!! Every dollar counts! Regardless, it was still really, really good chicken. It was moist, the roasting was flavourful, and the portion was very reasonable. They also topped the chicken with a drizzle of chicken gravy and a sprinkling of fresh ground pepper. You got to choose between chicken breast or leg and they had 3 side dish options. For my two sides, I picked roasted potatoes and roasted vegetables (the last was some sort of couscous thing). The veggies were great and were a mixture of sweet carrots, broccoli, and squash. The potatoes were nicely cooked and even better when soaked in the chicken gravy. For a Hong Konger who grew up in the West and is craving a bit of the West in Hong Kong, La Rotisserie fulfills that craving with amazing chicken. The Sai Ying Pun location is mainly a takeaway store with a couple of bar stools, so don't expect a comfortable dine-in experience. As with most shops, it's completely open on one side onto the street, which really maximizes its impact. first time ever having yakitori…read more... ...and i call myself an Elite yelper...jeez. anyway, yakitori if you didn't know translates to "grilled chicken" but can also refer to skewered food that gets bbq'd on a charcoal grill or in this place's case...an electric grill. had dinner with my brother here on a Friday evening and made sure to get reservations. despite getting a bit of a late reservation at 9:30pm, the wait was definitely worth it. the restaurant itself is quite cozy, but very modern. the chef and staff all seem to be native Japanese, which is cool and definitely reassured me of the quality of the food. i let my brother do all the ordering since i was unsure of what to order. we got a bunch of different cuts of chicken (meatball, wing, tail...), shiitake mushrooms, ginger wrapped pork belly, beef, green chilis...and i'm sure i've missed a few. it was great having a seat perpendicular to the yakitori chef and watching him grill, season, and marinate multiple skewers without skipping a beat. they also have a pureed daikon and quail egg sauce mixture to dip the skewers into along with a few spice condiments such as sansho pepper, shichimi togarashi (seven flavor chili pepper), and a few others including miso paste. after we were stuffed after devouring what seemed like 10 skewers each, i got a donburi bowl to end the meal, while my brother got ochazuke (green tea over rice) with seaweed. the meal ended up being a little over $170 USD, but it was well worth the splurge and a meal i won't forget anytime soon. i think it's put yakitori on my cravings list and has even got me thinking of doing a yakitori bbq party in the summer....

Oh yeah, they have 3 dollars wings on Tuesdays-my raison d'etre for going to either location. They have to be in orders of six though and it is pretty no frills you just get the wings, if you want celery and ranch it's extra. I've tried most of their flavors from mild (don't bother they might as well just be naked) to their hottest (it will do the trick.) I would stick with the more 'traditional' flavors because the other ones are too sweet in my opinion. I will say their non wing options are also okay. I've had their bacon cheeseburger which is a pretty decent pick. The bacon sandwich looks huge but I've eaten it twice and I've felt like I could eat again. We didn't make a reservation so we got here early to get seats at the sushi bar. The con for sitting at the sushi bar is that you suck up all the oil smell from the kitchen, pretty sure my hairs gonna smell real nice when I'm back at my office. I'd say portion here is generous and great value for money. Check out my negi toro don - I mean look at how thick the toro is compare to the rice!
