The staff is very rushed with the volume of customers to the degree of being rude. The staff is very gossipy and will talk of customers that they feel not understand in the area. They will also rush you out once you put down your chopsticks to get the next round of customers in... definitely not a relaxing environment for a family meal or date night. The area has the nostalgic feel as there has been very little renovations to update the feel. The seating is spacious but does fill up quickly with the volumes of tourists looking to sample their goods. We ordered a few dishes but the main star - Roast goose fell flat on its face. The goose was DRY and very tough (read - chewy). There was very little taste even with the generous duck Au jus on the plate. For all the hype, I am not really sure what I was supposed to ooh and ahh about... I will give them credit of crispy skin... but I am not here for Peking duck. Pack your explanations away when visiting this famed establishment to save the eventual disappointment of food and rudeness of the staff.

The good and easy thing about these places is that all you need to do is to show up. They sell everything including food, utensils and drinks. You don't have to haul anything here, or do any prep at all. Except for the fact that Hong Kong-style BBQ is more do it yourself (think long prongs over fire, like a boy scout would do), there is almost no work involved. On the other hand, I actually prefer to not just stare at people, their kids and their dogs when I'm by a beach. Again, Hong Kong is very crowded, but there are BBQ areas that are a bit less accessible and a lot more scenic out in the country parks. As long as you are willing to go out of your way for a little bit, and haul your foodstuff in, you will be rewarded. Those trips are my fondest memories growing up and this isn't remotely a fair representation of that. If you crave BBQ and must have it, then maybe this is ok. But why settle? The best things in life are things you have to work for.

Today, Tai Hing is all over the city and serve more than just simple bbq pork rice. They have become famous for their Hong kong style Milk tea, which also is sold in cans in retailers and have slick 'avengers-inspired' ads with lookalike Tony Starks and Nick Furys to promote the brand. There is spam and egg inspired local dishes, laksa, fried noodles and Chinese style small dishes you can order from. But the core of their business is still Hong Kong-style barbecued meaats, the roasted pork, char siu, chicken etc. The food is solid and comes in decently sized portions. A lunch of chicken+bbq pork rice and a millk tea will fill you up. You can order as a set lunch over rice or noodles, or just order an entire cut to take home. So despite all the innovation, I still like Tai Hing most for their traditional, simple menu items and that reliable quality is what makes me go back time after time.

We usually buy the net from the restaurant for BBQ grilling. Its more convenient to grill and you can eat even more than using the skewer. Suggest you book ahead. If there's no one answer just leave a detail message and they will call back to confirm. There's actually another BBQ place right next to this one so make sure you enter the right one.

It's pretty pricey though, considering what they charge inside the park, about right. Food is much better than what you find in the park.

The 鹽焗手撕雞 was being impressive. They use special chicken that's very flavorful. Unlike those chicken in America, it taste like meat, this? That's what chicken taste like. It's also very very reasonable (I'd like to say cheap but that may degrade the value)
