Tai O Fishing Village. Quaint little fishing village on Lantau Island…read more Fishermen's homes are on stilts on the water. You can take a mini boat ride to view the homes up close. Lots of stalls/vendors selling dried seafood, fish balls, etc. for the tourists. As we were leaving, we saw a sign for a pink dolphin tour! Can't get any more touristy than that, but it still sounds like it would be cool if you could actually spot a few pink dolphins. Maybe next time...

Tai O Fishing Village is one of my favorite places of all time to visit in HK, although technically…read moreit is on Lantau Island. To get to Tai O, you need to take the MTR to Central, then change to the Tung Chung line and go all the way there. Then take the #11 bus (45 min ride) or 30 min taxi (running HK$180 to $200) one way. And voila...food, glorious food, and snacks galore, after some walking and exploring. 肥妹燒烤小食 (Fei Mui, or Chubby little sister) is a small eatery that is difficult to miss once you wander into the area. Just look for the signage, but more importantly, someone grilling shellfish galore, smothered in garlic, or cheese, or just a very simple marination like soy sauce or salt/pepper. The smell alone will entice you to come over. Loss of willpower will lead you to just walk into the eatery, grab a stool and start ordering. Don't know what to get? Grilled prawn - HK$35 each (with garlic or cheese) Grilled abalone - HK$40 each Baked oyster with cheese - HK$20 each Grilled scallop on the shell - HK$35 each Sea snails in spicy sauce - HK$45 per plate. This is typical dai pai dong/HK style "izakaya" beer food and of course, cheese baked/grilled lobster - HK$160 each Best bets: grilled prawns (with garlic), abalone, and scallops. Eat like a king (or a mayor) in the village on the cheap! (Dude, we are not in Sendai or Aomori Japan, where you buy fresh seafood off the vendors and take it to the eatery to grill with butter, the quality is not the same here obviously).

While walking around Tsim Sha Tsui East, I smelt a meaty aroma looming. Following my nose, I…read morewandered upon a kiosk that so happened to be some kind of pop up food stand. This place opened around the end of December 2015? Why is this place called Under Vacuum? Because it is translated from French's word, sous-vide. This meaning a "method of cooking in which food is sealed in airtight plastic bags then placed in a water bath or in a temperature-controlled steam environment for longer than normal cooking times" This place sells slow-cooked beef that goes under an 8 or 48-hour process, or slow-cooked chicken that goes under a 2-hour process as a sandwich. Mm... soft meat. They also sell salads, craft beers (yesssss), special drinks, and desserts (which they partnered with a local source) I was sad that they didn't have any slow-cooked ribs the day I went, but that gives me a reason to come back! And they have a happy hour from 6-9pm: if you order any craft beer, you get 50% off on their snack menu. Whaaat. More reason for me to come back! They have only 4 stools to sit right at their kiosk, but do not fret, there are plenty of chairs around the area, but no table. They also provide plastic gloves for you to eat with. Neat. I waited about.. 10 minutes for my food? I think it was fairly worth it. I wish I could drink their craft beers during lunch time and go back to work...

I am in love with this place. The food quality is awesome…read moregiven that it is only a kiosk. A nicely factory-decorated kiosk. And you will have to allow time for them to cook, even for a sandwich. Their signature angus beef sandwich is just awesome and goes well with a crafted IPA beer. The ribs is awesome too, with very tender texture. I would like to try out more food from their menu as they are very reasonably priced. There are seats in the centenary garden, but you could always do take away. Or you could stand around the kiosk, which they had a small table for a few couples to stand around.
