Tai Hing is a pretty major chain restaurant that offers slightly more upscale versions of what you'd find in a Hong Kong Style 茶餐廳 (translated as tea
Restaurant). As a chain, they are most commonly known for their roasted meats (燒煤), and as a result I actually gave that a try while I was here when I ordered a rice with roast goose and roast pork (燒肉).
I also had the pork lung soup (豬肺湯) and I tried their steamed meat cake (蒸肉餅). Overall, the food quality was satisfactory- the roast goose was reasonably tender, though I feel that they were being a bit conservative with portions. The roast pork seems to have been left out for a bit too long and as such, has become crusty as opposed to crusty. The pork lung soup was flavourful, but it seems to have been a tad overdone considering how the bitter almonds in the soup pretty much disintegrate on contact.
The meat cake was actually really good, it was tender, mildly gingery and very succulent. It was well seasoned and it was good with rice or plain.
I might come again, but only if I'm eating with family. For the price I paid, I feel it's not worth it to eat here alone or with friends. read more
