Prepare your senses (but in a fun way) before coming here. They have everything from great restaurants, fresh fruit and vegetables, live toads (not for pets) seafood, butcher shops, etc... The butcher will butcher whole hogs right in the open. Chopping a head off or a leg off the hog. Placing the chopped pieces onto hinging hooks for display. The fish guys slices open whole fish to display it's innards. Skinning live toads per order. And then there are customers in the clothes boutique across the walkway sorting through the new arrivals. There are plenty of small restaurant stalls or sit down/waiter service restaurants to choose from. From HK BBQ pork and duck to dim sum. It's all here. Bring cash!! read more
You might find yourself here if you are on the way to the airport and have decided to stop to shop at Citygate outlet mall, or better yet, have just come back from a trip up to see the Big Buddha. This is probably one of the better places to get food in the immediate vicinity, and is also a very fun place to walk around. It's very manageable, while having a variety of food vendors, ranging from the ordinary HK fare to the extraordinary (I would describe one of the stalls as selling post-modern kimchi). I got a claypot rice with chicken feet and pork ribs (though there was no clay pot). There was nowhere to sit, so I went not too far outside and found a concrete stoop to sit on. It was good, cheap, and filling. read more

This place has most everything. Fresh meat, veggies, fruits, and other local ingredients can be found here! What I really like about Fu Tung Market is the variety of food stalls inside. My favourites are the Chinese BBQ stalls and the Korean takeout. You do NOT have to worry about the cooked meat hanging from hooks out in the open. We've all been eating them for years now and they're clean and hella good! I understand that some of you may be a bit iffy about this if you're not used to this set-up, but you should at least try the charsiu BBQ pork. They're usually kept dunked into a slow cooker-type of machine with hot braising liquid so you don't have to worry about temperature danger zone (TDZ) issues. (I'm a kitchen professional and I wouldn't really worry about TDZ with the BBQ products here in Fu Tung.) Chinese BBQ: Try the Roast Pork and Charsiu (life-changing). If you like chicken or duck, you can go for the steamed or soy varieties. They also have rice meals that come with a pack of juice. Awesome stuff! Korean food stall: I absolutely love their beef bulgogi w/ rice! Everything else is good too. The vendors don't speak too much English. If you don't know basic Chinese, you can survive with a bit of miming, pointing, and sign language. Regardless, you'll be fine... Trust me! read more

Da Wong is one of the stalls that sells Cantonese BBQ pork, chicken and roasted duck and pork. The BBQ roasted pork definitely was the best I had in a long time! read more
