I LOVE Bahn Mi, so I was super delighted when I walked by this morning after yoga and saw this…read morecheerful looking place. There's nowhere to sit; there is a tiny standing counter inside but it's more like a nice takeaway place. They have 5 types of sandwiches; this time I got the lemongrass chicken, which was nice. I usually get my bahn mi fix from Bep but these sandwiches are a lot bigger and better value (in my opinion). They make their bread fresh, the pickles are nice and crunchy, and overall I really enjoyed it. The bagette is still not as light and airy as found in Vietnam (no idea how they get it that light), but it's the best I've found so far in Hong Kong. Convenient location, quick and easy to pick up.

I found this place because of a SCMP article on great banh mi in HK. I love banh mi, and so I made…read morethe special trek to find this place, buried in a side street. I read the previous review and I was pretty excited as I got my sandwich, this is more of a booth than a restaurant but that's fine. I wanted to love this place and give it some more Yelp! Love. I unwrapped the sandwich with a sense of delicious trepidation.... at last... a great banh mi for me! I just barely bit into it and that is when I KNEW... this is not the banh mi you're looking for.... the pickles were okay but hardly crunchy by banh mi standards. The meat was actually quite good, but the problem was the bread... how could they not toast the bread?? Everyone knows that the baguette is the most important part of a banh mi, and there was no crunch as my teeth hit the bread... in fact... it was a bit... chewy... I don't mind this with a regular baguette sandwich but with a banh mi this is entirely unacceptable. So.... tasty meat ruined by mediocre pickles (they do give a good amount, too bad they're just meh) and a sad, sad baguette. Move along... move along...

Langer's in LA is our favorite deli and we go there frequently, so once in a while, we crave for…read moreAmerican deli sandwiches. Morty's was rated as one of the best sandwich restaurants in HK, we were certainly excited to try it and didn't mind the price. The sandwiches are priced comparable to many delis in the States. The quality though, is subpar and not very authentic. We were quite disappointed. Pastrami in the Reuben was chewy and fries tasted like home made air fryer fries. French dip - a bit better than the Reuben, but still tasted like frozen ones from Costco. French dip was NOT served with Au Jus as stated on the menu, but gravy! Two stars for the attentive service. Sorry I really wanted to love it.

A lot of expats would get their lunch here because it is convenient, delicious and well-priced for what you are getting.  I got the Classic duck meat sandwich and it was the bomb. It was loaded with delicious juicy duck as well as avocado, lettuce, tomato and onion on rye bread. The bread was crispy, and the fatness of the duck meat was just right. Actually duck fat is food for you anyways, so no need to worry at all about feeling guilty after eating the whole sandwich, because you will. We also tried the Reuben where the meat was a bit on the dry side, but expected from pastrami. It was nevertheless still very food. Overall, while I am typing this post, I am drooling just thinking about those sandwiches. I want more of those delicious duck meat on rye bread. Excuse me while I run and get some haha.

Mon dieu! It means…read moreOh. My. Gizzle. Molten yolk / flowing custard croissant 流奶牛角包, shortened to 流奶. It was one of the greatest moments in my mouth during my recent Hong Kong trip. It apparently replaced the pineapple butter croissant, which was basically the classic HK pineapple butter bun, but instead of a bun it was a croissant. This beautiful creation is basically taking the yum cha dim sum "lao sa bao" (flowing salty egg yolk custard steamed bun) but putting regular sweet molten custard inside a perfectly flakey crispy delicate layered croissant. At $22 and from a visitor's standpoint, a really good value for the quality. It may seem like a modern gimmick, but when you taste it, you cannot believe how perfect the fusion became. There was a lot of thought put into this, down to the execution, and the results speak for themselves! Even their standard plain croissant kicked so much ass, and I liked it way better than nearby Le Salon de The Joel Robuchon, which I had a day later and found it to be severely lacking. Apparently Urban Bakery's version (this particular location) comes closest to the Paris experience, and easily outperforms most croissants in San Francisco Bay Area.

Wasn't really hungry when I came, but I just HADDDDD to try at least something there cus I trekked all the way to the HK side. Alas, I settled for the Skinny Jeans ($80), which came with a smaller cheeseburger and side salad. The salad was fresh and the dressing was dece. The burger tho... STAR of the show. The bun was delightfully soft, but structured enough to hold up to the juicy patty. The patty itself... HOLY YESSSSS. Their patties are made of dry-aged beef and cooked to medium perfection. Wish I was hungrier so I could have tried one of their more unique creations. That will have to wait until next time I guess!

The chicken breast is so crispy from being double fried, and the sauce doesn't make it soggy. Great place for a burger. Enough to make me forget In n' Out!
