    Maple bacon egg

Good bagels and coffee with an escape from the bustling metropolis that is Hong Kong, R&R Bagels offers a very welcoming environment that can for a moment allow you to have a brief experience of being in New York again, even if it is just for a few minutes. Service is speedy and helpful, and the décor, casual, yet trendy. While I was here, I ordered a maple egg bacon breakfast bagel that blew my mind. The bagel was soft, but still chewy, the bacon crunchy (and maple glazed), and the eggs were cooked perfectly. For a moment I forgot that I was in Hong Kong as I stared into that lovely real cup that held my mocha. The vegan bagel looked amazing, and it's something I've got to try out the next time I come here.

Hi, I'm Michelle and I have a bagel addiction. (Did you say, "Hi Michelle" out loud?) I've been having a bagel most mornings for the past 7 weeks and have yet to get tired of it. You can only imagine my delight when I found out there is a spot in Central where I can continue feeding my bagel lust! Admittedly, R&R and I didn't have a proper first date... rather, I quickly stopped by and brought 6 of them home with me straight away! One bagel goes for $25, so you do save a little money if you buy 6 at $125. Still pricey AF but we addicts always look past those things. I tried their sesame and their whole grain. They've held up pretty nicely over time, considering I've kept them in the paper bag they came in and stored them in my pantry. 3 days later, I did a little magic by doing some microwaving and toasting, and I still ended up with the bagel I was looking for- slightly crispy on the edges/outside, but a bit chewy in the middle. 4 days might be pushing it; my mom tried to do the same magic but couldn't get the same result. I hope R&R doesn't mind taking a rain check on our first date as I do hope to eat in sometime soon. I want to try their sun-dried tomato cream cheese- I love that stuff and it's really hard to find in Asia!

The eggs being over cooked, had a non runny yolk. I ordered sides of baked beans and corn grits which were both fine. Our plates came out with the sides switched up. Not a big deal. Not bad for a western breakfast in Hong Kong. Not great either. I've had better western breakfast in Shanghai, though you would think Hong Kong being the international hub it is, would have even higher standards for western foods. Eggs Benedict: 85HK. Unlimited coffee: 35HK. Using a restaurants own WiFi to post a 2 star review about them: Priceless.

I went with an Eggs Guacamole and a mango juice and I thought it was all pretty awesome overall. The food isn't overly expensive, you get fairly generous portions, and they definitely don't skimp on your free sides. The potatoes were a tad dry and I probably wouldn't go with them the next time around, but their grits aren't half bad. Hollandaise sauce is thick, yet runny, and the eggs were poached perfectly. The guacamole was offered in generous portions, and the only thing that I could possibly say they weren't generous with, in terms of portion size was my juice. That's fine though. I'll definitely be back to try a few other menu items.
