Nice little terrace in the back overlooks a playground and the lower street so it's fun to watch people, and the ice cream sandwiches on the weekend are so unique and yummy! The coffee is good also but on the pricier side so I would pass. BUT THE ICE CREAM SANDWICH!!!!!! They change on the daily (or maybe each weekend). I had a coconut merengue macaroni with passion fruit ice cream on the center, it had toasted coconut flakes on it as well as some passion fruit drizzle. Have been always wanting to try this due to its dominant presence on my Instagram feed. They are supposedly famous for their ice cream sandwich but unfortunately I was not in mood food to eat it on the day that I went . I tried the salted latte and mint chocolate latte . Milk was nicely frothed, coffee relatively strong. I preferred the salted latte over the mint because it gave a nice balance of coffee with a hint of salty after taste . The mint was disappointing in that it was not "chocolate-ty " enough. But overall it was not bad because they seem to use nice chocolate powder which did not have the sour after taste like u get in the normal coffee franchises. Will recommend a try if u haven't tried before but the place is quite hard to find which to me was a put off . read more

Brooklyn is a state of mind and hipster culture is international. Walking in here is like walking into a boutique in NYC. Or maybe not, maybe it's now like walking into a boutique anywhere in the hip world. Tupac and other hip-hop (scrupulously selected to be credible?) plays, and the place is full of expensive watches and leather phone cases, and bags that look somehow both rugged and fussy, and very clunky glasses destined for very beautiful faces, and also cute postcards and papercraft and sundry knickknackery. All these things are expertly curated for maximum hipness, and arranged as if ready to be photographed for Kinfolk or Cereal or Monocle magazines. Even the staff seemed curated. It was a little too much hipness for me, but... In the back there's a coffee shop! And all the overwhelming hipness I could barely tolerate up front, I adored when applied to coffee making. I ordered a pourover. The barista sifted out a single serving of beans and offered them for me to smell, then ground them and offered the same again. They ended up making a swell cup of flavorful, slightly sour coffee, and this cup took a good and serious five minutes to prepare, which probably doesn't matter but which I nevertheless enjoyed--the five minutes of watching and waiting, I mean. Aside from coffee, they offer a smoke-infused homemade vanilla ice cream affogato and ice cream sandwich, which I very sadly didn't try. They offer a few teas, and a Thai Ice Tea that tasted great but, note, is not fresh, it is bottled. The coffee shop has five or six seats at a counter, a few more on a bench, and then an outdoor patio that could fit 5 to 10. The patio faces a courtyard with a banyan tree and a swing set and a small street beyond. It was swell. read more

Decent place but would not go back Food: I ordered the americano. The coffee was good, but you can definitely find better. Ambiance: the place is Central has a very cute vibe. In the back they have seating outside which is very nice since it's much quieter than the seating in the front which is on a busy road. The most annoying part was that none of the two wifi networks worked. The cafe was hardly full and yet my computer and phone could not connect. Music was good though. Staff: despite sitting down and paying the service fee, you will get no service. Once your order is delivered they don't come back and check or bring you water which is disappointing. Overall it was a mediocre experience. I had higher expectations given that Elephant Grounds is known to be a good place to do work. read more

I believe this is Kevin Poon's cafe/coffee shop. Couple years ago, one of my friends had mentioned he had jumped into another venture outside of CLOT clothing. And about a year ago, I had went into one of EG's other location just to post up and do some work. The coffee here is decent. For close to $5 for a cup of coffee, the price is no different than hitting up one of the many artisan coffee shops in LA. The coffee isn't bad, and the food is alright. Last October my friend brought me to this location to actually eat the some food this time. December I came back again. The interior of their locations has this cool rustic eclectic modern vibe decor. The most notable things to get are the avocado toast, taro chip nachos, fried chicken, cajun octopus karaage, hokkaido milk honeycomb ice cream, and aburi short ribs donburi. The taro chip nachos was probably one of my favorite items on the menu. It almost hits all the flavors of umami: salty, sweet, and savory. Overall my friend labeled it best, "it's a little bit of Los Angeles (home) crammed into a boutique store, where the native heads in the area may or may not understand the trendy food integral-cultured society of HK's infrastructure". Elephant grounds is a cute little coffee shop situated at the back of Woaw on Gough Street. You have a choice of either sitting at the bar watching the baristas do there thing or on the terrace. The bar is my place of choice. You can so much watching the pros in action. A good range of coffee is available. The espresso based options are fairly standard. A fairly dark roasted blend is used which provides a nice chocolatey finish, especially in the milk based drinks. Of more interest are a choice of beans brewed using either the siphon or drip methods. Although they aren't cheap, I think that is the best way to really experience the skill of the Elephant Grounds team. Aside from coffee, there are not many reasons to visit. There are some cookies which look nice enough (but insufficiently tempting to pique my interest) and tea. Consequently, if you don't love your coffee, there are better options elsewhere. read more

I actually stumbled upon Elephant Grounds whilst sheung-wandering in my second week in HK after a few shiny objects in the window of WAOW caught my eye . I could spend ages in this meticulously organised shop on gough street - the greetings cards alone had me chuckling for a good 20 minutes. So EG is a coffee shop inside a shop (insert your own meta / Inception-related comment here). Onto the coffee - the flat white was creamy, and my initial impression was that a huge cup for HKD 40 is decent considering Hong Kong's madly inflated specialty coffeehouse prices which seem to have unfortunately become the norm. I've heard the hype about the ice-cream sandwiches here - will give them a try on my next visit! FYI the thai iced milk tea was a winner the first time round! read more

If your ever in Hong Hong this is a must try! The coffee shop is located in the back of a really cool store. The staff is extremely nice (side note it is cash only). Coming from a tourist/someone not familiar with the streets this place was confusing to find at first. Its inside the woaw shop which i didn't realize.
