Remember that one time they eff'ed up the coffee? I don't either. Well I lied. Back in the days when we had to order a cup of coffee every morning at 7:30am, there were a few options. Starbucks was crap, Pret a Manger was meh, LGB wasn't open for business until later in the morning, Classified was a bit too far, and Fuel was the best option among all. I didn't know about coffee much, and I was a Latte guy back then. The time I started remembering Fuel, was the time they burned the coffee. At 7:30am in the morning, all your senses were at the best reception. There's no way you'd tell me you didn't burn your coffee, and not with an easy price tag. We (I) put them on holiday (i.e. not dealing business with them for awhile). But hey, ever since I started buying their coffee again, it was phenomenal. I paid extra attention to every single cup, and they were all top-notch. This was why every 7:30am, we went someone down here for the first cups of coffee, and a lot of time you already had to queue, or even waited for the staff to come back to work. And that's also why it's always full (despite it's surprisingly not filled with tourists). You could totally argue that it's a supply / demand thing, and it's partially true - there are even TWO Starbucks with in IFC Mall. But let's say we are pretty lucky to have some good coffee next to our doorstep.

TL;DR: Great coffee for refueling (see what I did there?) after a day at the IFC mall. This place has a slightly weird way to get your coffee and your seat. First you find your seat in the area that's part of the mall and the small seating area inside the shop itself. After you're seated, order your coffee at the counter, and return to your seat. When your order is ready, a server will bring your perfect little cup of coffee to you. To this day, I still don't know how they manage to deliver their cups of coffee to patrons without asking for a name or calling a number. I had their americano and wife had the cappuccino. Americano was so smooth and fragrant. The foam on the cappuccino is just right with a sprinkle of chocolate powder. Their carrot cake is also really tasty -- not too sweet but creamy cream cheese frosting and moist carrot cake with just enough spice. Price is higher than your average coffee place, but it's definitely worth it!

Fuel is located very conveniently in the IFC mall. The setting is simple chic. Service is efficient and very friendly. With so many coffee shops opening in Hong Kong almost every day this is still one of the best coffee shop in Hong Kong. The barista know what they're doing, all different coffee drinks are done to perfection. It is pricey though!

The best iced latte you can get! It was so smooth and creamy. I opted to order without sugar, it definitely does not need it.

The eggs being over cooked, had a non runny yolk. I ordered sides of baked beans and corn grits which were both fine. Our plates came out with the sides switched up. Not a big deal. Not bad for a western breakfast in Hong Kong. Not great either. I've had better western breakfast in Shanghai, though you would think Hong Kong being the international hub it is, would have even higher standards for western foods. Eggs Benedict: 85HK. Unlimited coffee: 35HK. Using a restaurants own WiFi to post a 2 star review about them: Priceless.

I went with an Eggs Guacamole and a mango juice and I thought it was all pretty awesome overall. The food isn't overly expensive, you get fairly generous portions, and they definitely don't skimp on your free sides. The potatoes were a tad dry and I probably wouldn't go with them the next time around, but their grits aren't half bad. Hollandaise sauce is thick, yet runny, and the eggs were poached perfectly. The guacamole was offered in generous portions, and the only thing that I could possibly say they weren't generous with, in terms of portion size was my juice. That's fine though. I'll definitely be back to try a few other menu items.

The hostess will ask if you want to be seated inside or outside. HK humidity is no joke. No way would I be able to sip a hot one outside. The AC inside is perfect even with the open entrance. The furniture has that old Chinese antique with lots of 80s tchotchkes. Here is what we ordered: - Longan Honey Latte (iced & hot) - Black Sugar Latte (hot) All of our drinks were excellent as was the service. Great place to relax and chit chat with your friends. Restroom is available in the back.

Halfway was our occasional morning base, with solid Western breakfast fare: scrambled eggs on sourdough or avocado toast with smoked salmon and a solid latte and matcha latte. The artful plating stands out, with food and drinks served on vibrant enamelled porcelain with intricate designs. That said, breakfast here veers towards the more basic: scrambled eggs on toast with a side salad and nicely plated pink mayonnaise. The sourdough bread was a good multigrain, but overall a surprisingly standard rendition of a breakfast open sandwich. In all, a nice spot with friendly service, a modern setting, good atmosphere and solid a-okay cafe fare that is beautifully plated.
