The xiaolongbao was pretty decent. The skin was a bit thick but it held a lot of soup inside! The soup and pork filing itself was delicious. The restaurant was clean and the service was decent! The dessert however was rather disappointing. The purple potato dessert tastes less sweet potato than it looks (feel very carb-y) and liquidified salted egg yolk ball was not as good as it should be. The filing was delicious but not flowing. Both desserts were so heavy on the flour that it made me fill super full (in a bad way) afterwards -1 star for dessert so please stick to the savory items!

Crab meat xiao long bao

I can't rave enough about this restaurant! Let me start with the food. Oh goodness the food... I've been here a handful of times, and it has consistently delivered every time. Their xiao long baos are juicy, fresh, and the meat inside tastes really fresh. The skin is thin but thick enough to pickup without breaking. They also have a special crab xiao long bao which is more expensive ($28 each). The crab meat is really tasty and fresh. One of the things that surprised me the most is the potstickers. They are perfectly pan fried to have a crispy bottom but SUPER juicy inside! That definitely pleasantly caught me off guard. Their shredded chicken with noodles and peanut sauce is another one of my favorite things here. That peanut sauce is AMAZING. I usually save it to dip all of my other food in it. There is a vegetarian roll that is extremely fresh and light. The green onion pancake is more of a green onion pancake but still very well cooked. Their deep fried food doesn't have that stale oil taste. They have a flaky ball with turnip inside and that is really fresh, but be careful because the inside is really hot. We also ordered the hot and sour soup with wontons. The soup has quite a kick so if you're not that into spicy foods then I would considered just ordering the wontons on their own. The wontons are really big and the cabbage and pork inside are delicious. The sweet vinegar spare ribs are falling off the bone and taste very good. All of the noodle dishes I've had (the Shanghai thick noodles and rice cakes) are not overly oily, and I love that texture of the noodles. They're really chewy. The chicken soup with wontons is also a light choice that is really delicious. Lastly, you can tell the soy milk is fresh and I love that it's just sweet enough. What else besides the amazing food? The location is fantastic, right outside of the E exit of Jordan station. The staff is very friendly and you don't get that rushed feeling from them. The recently moved down the street so the venue itself is new and clean. The only thing I could gripe about is the price of their food, but I would gladly pay it for that level of quality and service.

The shredded chicken with cucumbers and peanut sauce over noodles (雞絲粉皮)? Excellent. In all serious, that peanut sauce. Really, really good. You may just want to dip everything in it...which is what we do. Essentially, we ask them to leave the peanut sauce on the table and keep dipping other dishes in it. Other stuff that is good: -Shanghai dumplings -Fried potstickers (there is juice inside!) -Green onion bun with sesame -Green onion pancakes in a donut shape -Flaky turnip pastries Essentially, everything I've had here is good. Visitors come, and I recommend this place. People are hungry, I recommend this place. People are in this area, or not, I recommend this place. You can say I have a soft spot for Hao De Lai. Imagine the shock and disappointment I had a few months ago, when I go to their old store and thought they closed down, until I realized that they had moved down the block to a bigger store. Good service. Excellent food. Bomb peanut sauce. A winner!

Their noodle that came with fried pork chop. This seems to be a popular dish here.

It is very close to the Jordan stop if you take the metro. Overall good. I'd recommend pork wonton, fried pork chop noodle, sugar and vinegar pork ribs and their vegetarian tofu skin cold dish appetizer. They only accept cash and you can't bring in your own food or drinks. Beware of what they bring you. They brought us vegetarian egg rolls we did not order and charged us for it. It's hard to know what the food looks like when you order because there are no pictures. They do have an English menu but I didn't look at it. It was not a cheap lunch. I think for 4 of us, it was over $300 HKD.

Xiao long bao is great. I suggest you to order more. It's 4 baos for HKD$40 (March 2016). We ordered a few more classic Shanghaiese dishes. All were good but not super. Also, portion is a bit small.

XLB comes in four per order.
Lily L.

The restaurant itself is pretty small. Casual. Needless to say, a hidden gem! I would have to say, their xiao long baos were pretty top notch! One of the bests. I've always been picky with my XLBs, whether it was the skin, the filling, or the soupy broth inside. Everything about it was so delicate and savory. The skin of the XLB was crazy thin and delicate. Had a good amount of meat filling. The soup inside was light and tasty. Just the perfect combination of a good XLB. I will definitely be back for more when I visit Hong Kong again!

Came here based on the glowing reviews. The soup dumplings were amazing. Unfortunately, the vinegar dipping sauce was weak. The wheat gluten were overly sweet, though the texture was good. The hot and sour soup was terrible. Super spicy with no salt or vinegar (the sour part!).

If you are near here, eat here!…read more We were the only westerners in the restaurant, which gives a good hint about local quality. The menu had a LOT of items, each numbered and with short descriptions in English. Everything was, as you'd expect, served family style. We had the hot and sour soup, some veggie dumplings, shredded beef with vegetables, shrimp in chili sauce, all served with tea. Each was fantastic! Seriously. Not good. Not great. Fantastic! There was enough soup for four, which magically disappeared from our table for two. We cleaned every plate, and not because the servings were anything short of generous. The service was also great, while a bit hovering as they seemed worried about how we might handle everything. For one, I was happy they noticed us struggling while making a mess trying to shell the shrimp, bringing us a knife and fork (and extra wet-wipes). Interesting to me, this was the first time we each had two sets of chopsticks. Thankfully, the internet quickly taught us that one set was for serving ourselves from the community plates, and the other for eating. Don't use the eating pair for serving or the serving pair for eating -- it is bad form, especially with COVID being so huge here. Note: they are happy to bring serving spoons, forks and knives if you ask (or appear hopeless). My other mistake, in addition to the shrimp peeling fiasco, was not tipping. When I saw the 10% service fee, and knowing tipping is totally optional and not expected in Hong Kong (and most of SE Asia), I still should have left a bit more, especially considering how helpful they were.

Loved them. They make the buns right there in front of you, rolling and wrapping each one by hand before pan-frying them. The bottom was golden and properly crisp, while the top stayed soft and slightly chewy. Inside was a juicy, savory pork filling with a surprising amount of hot broth, almost like a xiao long bao but with that wonderful crispy bottom. The black and white sesame seeds on top added a nice toasted flavor too. They're quite rich, so two pieces were enough for a quick snack, but I completely understand why these are so popular. Just be careful with the first bite because the soup inside is seriously hot! Quick service and it's a stall so simple vibe and ambience Simple, freshly made and delicious. The steamed fish was my favorite, but a lot of the dishes felt like stuff you could get anywhere. Definitely one of the weaker Michelin spots I tried in Hong Kong, not really worth the price.

(Prices mentioned in this review are in HKD, divided by 7.75 would convert to USD)…read more We have been eager to try the Spring Moon which is a Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant located on the 1st floor (equivalent to 2nd floor in the US) of the Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong.  We treated 6 members of our extended family to dinner, with us, it was a party of 9.  Hubby did a great job choosing 4 starters, 9 other main courses, and let each person pick a dessert of his/her choice.  Please see the receipt that lists all the items.   The restaurant was set up to resemble those in the 1820s, and has an antique Shanghainese feel.  I appreciated the antique feel, but would prefer better lighting especially for photo taking of the food!  The majority of our table was in a shadow as it was mostly under the balcony, so, that was trickier to take good photos.  Also, the tables were pretty close to each other, except for the wider area in the middle leading to the tea bar.  For some, it is a stunning looking restaurant, depending on whether antique Shanghainese is your cup of tea or not.   Service was very good, but not impeccable.  It was like standard for a good restaurant.  Sometimes we did have to flag down a waiter.  But they were all nice and polite once you got their attention.  We had to remind them several times about the second course of the Peking Duck, which was the Stir-fried Minced Duck Served with Lettuce, that they might have forgotten.  However, we really need to give a special shout-out to our main server, who was friendly and was very familiar with the menu.  He gave my hubby good advice, such as the Green Lobster would be too small for 9 people, and he suggested 2.25 orders of Wok-fried Prawns with Yunnan Ham and (crispy) Bean Curd Sheet.  That was a very good recommendation!  The green veggies were placed through the huge prawns, the whole dish was fresh and tasty with beautiful presentation!  He did not up-sell us, as this choice even came up cheaper than the original Green Lobster!  He also advised on getting 1.5 orders of the Suckling Pig, 1.125 order of the BBQ Hungarian Mangalica Pork with Honey, and 1.125 order of Star Garoupa so that they would be enough to feed all 9 guests! Moments like the captain carving the Peking Duck by our tableside; a team of servers bringing individual servings of King Crab Meat Sweet and Sour Soup to us; and a team bringing individual servings of desserts, were truly impressive!  It was fun that all those bowls came covered and were opened at about the same time. The food was phenomenal!  I have been craving for the crispy skins of the Suckling Pig, Peking Duck, and Crispy Tea Chicken since we left Spring Moon!  Those were so light, thin, and crispy... a true delight to enjoy!  The Pan-seared Star Garoupa(Grouper) was also memorable!  It had a light batter that had a nice crunch, the Grouper meat inside was so fresh, tasty, smooth, and cooked to perfection!  The Steamed Crab Claw with Egg White (although a bit pricey at HK$428 per person) that we got 9 orders of was a must try!  The Crab Claw was so big and plump, the meat fresh and flavorful, and the steamed egg white was smooth and tasty!  This dish really impressed everyone!  The only dish that I did not try was the Garlic Broccoli.  Why?  I have to save some room for dessert!  So, it was either broccoli or Baked Sago Pudding with Chestnut Paste, which is a labor-intensive yummy dessert that not too many restaurants have chefs that could/would make nowadays!  The pudding was so good, it had the right amount of sweetness, and the chestnut paste in the middle was creamy and tasty!   I already wish to have the above dishes again when I go to Hong Kong next time!  Actually, the whole dinner was a delight! The other dishes Crispy Bean Curd Rolls with Carrots and Black Mushrooms, Cold Jellyfish with Dark Vinegar, Signature Fried Rice, Vermicelli with Crab Meat all worth an honorary mention!  And we even got complimentary desserts!  Each person got a bite size piece of mango pudding cake, and an almond cookie, that was so crispy and fluffy and smelled so good! The Spring Moon is famous for its vast variety of tea.  We ordered Jasmin and Oolong to go with our dishes.  Each guest picked one of the two, that paired with the Cantonese food well. All in all, the dinner at Spring Moon was worth the money!  We were all stuffed with good food!  Everyone was happy and we, as hosts, were proud as well!

We were treated to some bottled still water and had some time to review the menu. We started with some Fuding Jasmine Dragon Pearl Tea 福鼎茉莉龍珠 which was aromatic and delicious. It was poured tableside alongside complimentary candied sesamed walnuts. For an appetizer, we opted for the Pan-fried bean curd sheet rolls with carrots and black mushrooms 香煎素鵝 (this is one of their chef recommendations 廚師推介). Their Charsiu was phenomenal and also a chef recommendation - Smoked barbecued Hungarian mangalica pork with honey 果木煙燻 匈牙利鬈毛豬叉燒. For a full meal, we chose the Fried flat rice noodles with Wagyu beef and onions in supreme soy 頭抽乾炒和牛河. The flavor was exquisite - deep, charred, evolved. And the texture was outstanding. The wagyu was so tender, it was difficult to distinguish it from the noodles! We passed on desert as we were on schedule to attend the orchestra across the street, but next time I'll plan to be here longer. Highly recommend. Be warned that this is an expensive meal, but you get what you pay for. We split all three and did not leave hungry.
