The Har gao had a very thin shell, but it also wasn't fragile. It wasn't too doughy or glutenous, and the shrimp was perfectly snappy and had a very fresh delicious flavor. It may be a bit more expensive than places in the area, but that is what you get with a good reputation, marketing and a michelin rating. I will say it was nice inside and it had air con and there was some thought that went into the ambiance. Anyway, it was still affordable from an American perspective and I enjoyed everything. I decided on two dim sum spots to try on this trip with Tim Ho Wan being the first. I came 6 PM on a weekday and it wasn't busy, we were quickly seated as there were plenty of available tables. Since we were not too hungry, we ordered the Shrimp Cheung Fun, Har Gow, and Siu Mai. It took around 5 mins for the dim sum to come out and the food looked good. However, it really seemed like some flavors were missing the umami taste that you would expect of dim sum. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a disappointing meal, so I would recommend trying other dim sum spots when in Hong Kong.

It's a well recognized, popular place in central Hong Kong, located by Victoria Harbour. I had heard about this place from before visiting Hong Kong. Tim Ho Wan, which is a one Michelin star rated famous dim sum place, was at the top of my list for Dim sum but we couldn't make time for it based on our sight seeing itinerary. When we got here, there was a wait but the line was moving fast. You have to mention to the front door receptionist about how many people you have in your party and you get a number. Once your number is called, you get seated. Once seated, a server comes and places plates and silverware and offers you water and tea. Tea is complimentary. I have heard that some places in hong kong charge you for tea while you are under the impression that it's complimentary. The way it works for ordering dim sum items here is that servers constantly are around pushing carts full of variety of food items. You with flag them down or when they come by your table area, you tell them what and how much you want of the foods they have on their cart. There's a list of items on the side of the cart to tell you what all they have in that cart. Once you are given what you wanted, the server marks on your bill what you got and how much of it. Later, you take that bill to the cashier and pay. We ate a lot of variety of foods. Dumplings, buns, fried rolls, roasted pork pieces, and mango oriented dessert items. It was all delicious and good. We loved it. It was worth the visit. This place is good for anyone (locals and tourists). It's in a nice setting. The restaurant room looks like a banquet hall room with white cloth tables, chandeliers and servers in uniforms. Go check this place out. I highly recommend it. It's worth eating their dim sum because it's really tasty and good.

It's a classic Dim Sum place with both ordered food and carts that go around. The atmosphere is business casual and somewhat more upscale than local eateries since it's located inside one of the ubiquitous shopping mall buildings found on every corner in HK's touristy Kowloon TST area. On to the food. It's okay but I've had better dim sum even in the US. The whole mean came out to around $250HKD which is about $30USD for food without any additional beverages besides the standard pot of tea for the table. I think you are paying for the prime real estate rather than the food With so many authentic local eateries found on every corner, I think this is a pass for me for the future

We sat there for a good 15 minutes just waiting. We saw the dim sum cart so we thought it'd eventually get to our table. We then saw waiters bringing out plates to other tables so then we got super confused. Luckily there was a nice couple sitting next to us that could speak fluent English. He explained this place and with newer dim sum places you scan a QR code and order. He also went through the selection on what's good and what portion is big, etc. I swear we lucked out that night with this kind gentleman otherwise we'd be sitting there clueless for hours. Food was top notch. You know often times you order mindlessly (literally in our case because there were no photos to reference to so we went by the names and the gentleman's recs) and there will be some misses. Not here! Everything was delicious. Literally all. You can't go wrong with anything here, take my word. Just remember to scan the QR code to order so you don't sit there cluelessly like us.

We ordered a lot - probably around 10, if not more, dishes. Note of caution: The water with lemon is not a water with a slice of lemon, but also has sugar on the bottom that visibly separates and needs to be mixed. It was interesting.

Dim Sum Trio (Steamed Pork Dumpling with Lobster, Steamed Fresh Shrimp Dumpling with Bamboo Shoot, Steamed Fresh Shrimp Dumpling with Asparagus and Scallop): Classis dumpings cooked perfectly and made with high quality ingredients. It's a must order. 2. Deep-fried Fresh Crab Claw Stuffed with Minced Shrimp: Crispy, crunchy and big chunky shrimp inside. Also delicious! 3. Signature Barbecue Combination- Honey-glazed Barbecued Pork and Roasted Pork Belly: The classic dish of Hong Kong. Not quite as good as places like Mott 32 but very good. 4. Deep-fried Shrimp Toast with Salted Egg Yolk: it's a classic dish and done well. A single big shrimp is used instead of minced parts 5. Deep-fried Glutinous Dumplings with Pork, Shrimp and Carrot Juice: The insides were delicious but the dumpling was only warm and not as crisp as it should be. 6. Shanghai-style Pork Soup Dumplings: good but not special. 7. Simmered Seasonal Vegetables and Mushrooms in Fish Broth: also good but not special. The food taste and quality easily exceeds my expectations of a 5 star restaurant; however, the reason why I'm giving this joint 4 stars is for their service towards foreigners. We brought our friends here for brunch, some of which are white. The staff treated us so much worse than the times we come here with family. To give you some examples: we were ignored for many parts of the meal with our food delivered very sporadically. we had to ask multiple times to make simple requests. They tried to serve dessert in the middle of our meal, when we asked them to bring it back later the server yelled at me for not making t clear when ordering. This is absolutely absurd! At asian restaurants, this is always assumed since they do not have a separate dessert menu like most western restaurants. A high end chain like lei garden would normally not mess this up. Furthermore, admitting to the mistake would have been fine, but their wait staff yelled at the customer!
