Cafe de Coral is a HK fast food chain. This location is busy, with long lines, but it moves pretty quickly. - Minced beef and egg with rice: 4 stars. Really liked this. The egg yolk was nice and runny. - Baked pork chop with rice: 3 stars. comes with a tomato-based sauce with onions, peas, and pineapple. There's a small amount of scrambled egg in the rice too. The sauce is a little too sweet for my liking, though. And the breading on the pork chop was soggy. The dishes come with a drink. I got the mango sago (a mango drink with little mango bits and tiny tapioca), which was good! And their milk tea was a bit on the too sweet side but otherwise good too. After flying for 13 hours and arriving at the HK international airport for a connect flight, I looked for a restaurant to eat a late dinner. This restaurant is at the food court in the airport. It is quite popular as the line up is very long. The food at the airport is a bit more expensive than the one in the city. I bought a bowl of beef brisket with noodles and a cup of coffee. It cost $46 HKD (less than $8 CAD). The portion was very small comparing to the one that I got in Vancouver. The quality was ok. Not very good but not too bad. If I could have tried more food, I would have bought from another restaurant in the food court in the airport. In conclusion, this restaurant has different kind of Chinese food but not great. I would not highly recommend it. read more

I don't usually write for fast food, but Cafe de Coral I'm such a big fan. I wish I could have had you more but I wanted to try so many things. I wish you were just around the corner because I miss you cheap delicious food. Not only is Cafe de Coral cheap and delicious, but they also have a wide variety of food AND they change from breakfast- lunch - tea time- dinner. I would KILL to have that variety of food HERE. I had their chicken steak for breakfast(a small piece) but came with egg, toast, and a drink. It was delicious. The skin was pan-fried to perfection where it was nice and crispy and then you have seasoned well chicken. I also had their baked bolognese. Man, it was cheesy and it was soooo good. It was everything I want in my baked bolognese and they gave a HUGE portion. It was only $5 dollars USD too... With that said, I'm a few hours back in LA, I would like to say I'm in full effect of missing HK badly. read more

Omg LOVE this place. Granted I only got one dish - the fish corn egg dish but it was amazing. There was a ton of food - lots of the fish corn/rice/soup/tea. All for $7. The fish tastes like super good fried chicken. No idea why this place has less than 4stars. Maybe it lacks consistency? Either way, you don't regret ordering what I had (c2 I think). Not a bad place to go to grab a bite before your flight if you are in a time crunch as orders come out in 5 min or less. read more

Airport fast food w/ good flavors for their sticky rice and great consistency for their porridges. Their chow mein can be a tad less salty but adding vinegar helps bring out more rounded flavors. They accept cash or credit. Bummed because they don't serve rice plates until the afternoon although the goose is hanging there in the window and ready to go. read more

Tried the shrimp wonton soup. No lie it hit the spot. You get 5 shrimp wonton dumplings and one vegetable. Love the thin noodles too and prices are decent for the airport Line is a little long but service is quick. I would the rice dishes the next time I am at the Hong Kong airport. read more

For a chain store, they have surprisingly good bouncy shrimp wonton with bouncy noodles. They are not as good as Tsim Chai Kee or Mak's Noodles, but they are much better than many other places. The place is clean and your food is ready in only one or two minutes, so you will not miss your flight. This is your chance to get your last taste of real Chinese food before you go back overseas if you're a visitor to Hong Kong. This is a review for the Café de Coral in the departures area along the back. I am sad to see that the Café de Coral in the arrivals hall (downstairs) no longer exists! This location upstairs had incredibly long line ups, limited seating and dirty tables! The staff are slow in cleaning up tables.. this specific location has trays at the side for customers to "return their trays".. ikea style. So odd. Expect for other patrons to hustle you for your table or seat. Prices are reasonable compared to other food at the Airport, you can get a baked ketchup pork chop rice with a red bean freeze for about $60HKD! read more

Line was super long, so had the impression that my food was going to be spectacular. Although the prices were relatively low (airport standards), the taste of the dish was not up to par. Just by looking at what I was served, you can tell most of them were probably microwave dinners that just got heated up. These people are EXTREMELY rude. No manners whatsoever when it comes to treating customers. They do not deserve your business unless you like being treated like garbage. They do not put signs up anywhere that you need local HKD cash or USD cash to pay. They actually expect you to carry local currency while in transit. Wow. "Fast food" joint in the airport, before you go through customs, so everyone can enjoy the food here. As expected, the food here is more expensive than typical Cafe de Corals around the city, but it is a better deal than most of the other food offered in the airport. There was a very short line-up when we got there at around 8am. There weren't a lot of free seats, but in general, customers were able to find seats when they arrived. Tables were cleaned quickly and well, so that was a definitely good plus. It is $10 for a milk tea and lemon tea and other typical hot drinks. A cappuccino is $20 and a steamed lotus leaf wrapped rice meal set is around $40. Food quality is decent, although the variety is definitely lacking. Their meal choices are also very simple, for example, offering only hard-boiled eggs, instead of any fried eggs in their breakfast meal sets. read more

Despite having other restaurants open beside it, this is still one of the best places to eat bbq and roasts. Their char siu is tender and seasoned well. Their roast goose is also the one to get, it is juicy and cooked to perfection. Other than bbq and roasts, you can order other dishes from the menu like curry beef brisket and others. Most airport workers eat here as well, and some usually prefer this place. There is always a long line when I pass by, that is a good sign that the place is good. Everytime I check in the airport, I never miss a chance to stop by and order something to eat here. read more

60% Pretty good spot to get fast food dinner of Chinese BBQ meats at the airport. *** Came here for dinner, Oct '14. I had a flight to catch and didn't have a lot of time to spare. Cafe de Coral is a fast food chain in Hong Kong. For those unfamiliar, the food offered is mostly Cantonese or Hong Kong Cafe type dishes. For lack of better term, I can only describe it as western dishes made for the preference of local Hong Kong. Prices are generally quite affordable and comparable to western fast food chains. My meal here that entailed a combo set with of roast goose and chicken, plus a side of hot milk tea cost approx HK$70, or right under US$9. I find that the quality of cooking varies a lot. I think their breakfast items can be lacking. The savory lunch and dinner items tend be something I enjoy more often, particularly if Chinese BBQ meats are offered. I live in the US where roast goose isn't something I ever see in restaurants, so being able to sample this delicacy is a real treat. Cafe de Coral at the Hong Kong airport offers a last chance to enjoy this, should I have missed my chance to try it like I did my last visit. I'll get into more detail with what I had. The one lousy thing is that this place tends to run out of items later into the evening. When I visited between 8 and 9, half the items on the menu where out. Thank goodness there was an entire roast goose hung on display! combo set of a side of roast goose breast, soy sauce marinaded roast chicken breast, cooked greens on oyster sauce, white rice, and a side of hot milk tea cost approx HK$70, or right under US$9. (Dish rating 60%) - This is not really the menu description. I just made it up to approximate what I ordered. Apologies for the lack of photo. Note that the duck and chicken are bone-in. Not unlike the traditional preparation, the meat is closer to well done, although the meat remains fairly juicy. - The goose and chicken were pretty good despite some shortcomings. Unlike some stingier eateries, I found there was more meat than bone and other inedible bits. - If you've never had goose before, the best way I can describe it is that its like duck. However, my subjective impression is that its fattier and richer. The fat itself has a bolder, almost sweet flavor. What was served here was bone-in, with the skin on. There's a good amount of fat right under the skin. Its the best part because the flavor derives mostly from the fat. The protein is unmistakably goose instead of just texture. - Since the goose was cooked all the way through, sadly the was not much hint of blood towards the end like you would a medium rare or rare duck breast prepared that you might find in say French cuisine. Im not complaining, just describing the approach. It didn't seem overcooked and it wasn't dry. - Temperature of the proteins is off. The goose and chicken served was close to lukewarm. There would have been a good difference if were hot instead. - Soy marinaded chicken was also quite well done despite the poor temperature. I found the chicken breast to be tender enough and the flavor of the protein discernible. There was a pleasant notable sweetness and more restrained saltiness from the soy. The skin provided much welcome fattiness. - The greens, probably a cabbage of sorts that was slow cooked, and topped with a sweet oyster sauce wasn't bad. The temperature of this was nicely hot. The oyster sauce only a tad over applied yet not overpowering the greens. It was surprisingly simple yet delicious. - The white rice was a tad on the dry side although it wasn't too far off. I think its fine for fast food. Overall this was a solid fast food dinner. Its unfortunate that one can't get a better fast food hamburger in Hong Kong like I might get in the US with Shake Shack, In N Out, and 5 Guys (or just a good burger at any price point). Nonetheless, I think this more than makes up for it. I'm not embarrassed to admit wish I had a Cafe de Coral at LAX. Value is good. I can't complain for the price I paid. I think its dirt cheap for the generous amount of roast meats I had. If I didn't have to deal with the possibility of indigestion along with a 13 hour flight, I'd order the whole goose. Service is okay. The counter person seemed a bit brusque and impatient, but was efficient. I actually just asked for roast goose but he mistook me for the combo meal, which wasn't a bad choice in the end. Ambiance is fine for fast food. The space is clean enough even though lacking in character. I do like the fact that its tucked away in its corner and offers a bit more seclusion than many of the other airport restaurants. Definitely stop by if you feel the need for quick and affordable roast goose fix at the airport. Jade Garden may offer a more capable version should one have the luxury of more free time and be willing to spend more. read more

Some of the places in the airport are ridiculously expensive. Cafe de Coral lived up to the promise of reasonably good fast food at a reasonable price. I'd give it a good rating purely for being a decently priced option in a sea of overcharging. read more
