Firstly, it took the store 15 minutes to turn on the register. People started cueing up and the cashier just took her sweet time as if she was texting her boy friend on the cash register machine. But surely the food is worth waiting for? In case you kept reading after my opening line (why did you do that?) the food was not super, oh no, it was far from it. It was sorry sorry. So, in conclusion, unless you need to send a message to your boy friend through the cash register it's best to avoid this joint.

Instead, I would choose the most obvious candidate at Hong Kong International Airport. Popeye's. Popeye's, located on Level 7 in the Departures area, is a worldwide icon, and I couldn't pass on the opportunity despite literally hundreds if not thousands of locations in my home country. At a pricepoint of about $9 USD, the wings, cole slaw, pepper fries, and Coca-Cola was a steal compared to the gourmet Japanese ramen and Cantonese delights which would easily empty your pocketbooks. OK, who am I kidding? It's Popeye's. I was super hungry, and the line was like 1/100th of McDonald's. Don't worry, I ate some good Cantonese food later. Accepts most credit cards/HKD; they can speak English so don't worry; the food was great quality and less greasy than that of the States. I had a selection of meats: the roast pork (known as charsiu), soy sauce chicken (known as yaogai), and roast goose (konwn as siuarb). my favorite was the first two, both slightly fatty, very tender (but with a nice chew), and juicy from expert cooking - the goose was a little less successful, with the meat a little too dry and the skin shriveled. get it over rice, and be sure to get the accompanying condiment of spring onion and garlic mashed in chicken oil - utterly delicious.
