There are pictures as well which helps a lot to avoid any confusion. Contactless ordering is available. There are like 2 kiosk to put your order in and pay too. My kids and I stopped by here to have some lunch after a long walk. I am fond of Roasted Duck so I usually order it with rice and vegetable (Choi Sam). You can't go wrong with it. Tasty and filling. My oldest son ordered chicken with noodles. According to him it was okay but since he was hungry he finished it. He liked the hot milk tea though. My youngest son ordered a kiddie meal. He didn't like it all. What a waste of money because he only ate a little. He made a wrong choice. The place wasn't busy when we came. We were able to sit right away. Our order came in a timely manner as well. It is a self service. You wait for your number to be called and you get your order from the counter. *No public facility. *No street parking.

And continuing with my trend of Chinese fast food places, Fairwood is the other popular chain…read morerestaurant that has a ton of establishments littered around Hong Kong. This particular Fairwood is located in Dragon Centre in Sham Shui Po on the third floor. There's a ton of food options in the center itself - food court, plethora of restaurants, McDonald's, food carts - but you know you can always find a good deal at Fairwood. Usually people crowd around the doorway, waiting until 2 PM hits before they rush in for the deals. I suppose because of the location, there's a ton of choices that people can choose from. Again, the menu is posted right by the entryway of the restaurant. I feel like the menu helps prevent stupid questions from being asked to the waitress who takes your order. When something is sold out, it's removed. Menu changes four times a day (I think) - breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner. Despite this being a pretty busy plaza, the dining area itself is quite large. There are plenty of tables; people rush in, eat their meal, and leave so there are usually a lot of empty tables. I came during the afternoon tea for a quick bite to eat. There are a ton of elderly people who dine here at this time. The workers are really nice and seem to recognize familiar faces. They help carry trays and bring the seniors their food if they are unable to pick it up themselves. Afternoon tea is pretty standard and usually consists of similar items across all the chain restaurants. Imitation shark fin soup with combo of a chicken wing and 3 egg rolls. This soup was probably the saltiest out of all the ones I've tried. Despite adding vinegar to try to get that acidic taste that I like, the soup base was too salty that it overrode the vinegar. There was a good amount of ingredients in the soup itself, but I wasn't a big fan. The chicken wing was probably the best part! Very similar to a soy sauce chicken wing, and since it was grilled, the skin was slightly crispy. Not too much meat, but enough to hold your hunger over until dinnertime. The egg rolls were pretty pathetic. Limp and tasteless. We also ordered another imitation shark fin soup combo, but this one with sticky rice and HK styled milk tea. Soup was the same as the other one - too salty. The sticky rice was really good. The Chinese sausage and the oily rice, of course this would be tasty! And HK styled milk tea was on point for a fast food place. Smooth, but not too sweet. tl;dr - Food will always be a hit or miss, but prices are always pretty decent. Come for the afternoon teatime special at 2 PM!

The ambience was like a retro diner, with unique CD art on the walls, diner-like stools, and photos of guests enjoying their meal at Burger Joy. I wasn't feeling a burger, so I ordered some truffle fries and wings. I was so impressed at the amount of truffle they sprinkle on the fries and the flavor of the wings. SO hot and fresh which made the meal so delicious. I went with Cajun seasoning and the exterior was lightly crispy and coated with the powder. Fantastic flavor! As a Westerner, I could rely on Burger Joy for that classic American style dining. They have late hours and close at 2:30AM! Glad my friend and I discovered this spot as we have been out so late and nothing but convenient stores were open in Wan Chai.

At one point in time, Burger Joys was the closest thing I could find to a quality American style…read moreburger. It was and still is such a hard thing to find in HK, which seems strange given the popularity of burgers and the huge expat population. Now that several big time fast food chains (#1) have opened up, Burger Joys and their pricey burgers may seem somewhat pedestrian. Burger Joys is still fairly unconventional from most of the other burger spots, which includes serving full on booze (even cocktails!) and remaining open for 24 hours a day. The latter is mainly for location's sake, Wanchai and it's red light district vibe tends to spurn a lot of expat visits; many of whom are less likely to look for a HK Cafe over the idea of a burger and fries. The burgers themselves evoke memories of In N Out by presentation alone, sans taste and price. That said, the burgers are good. I'm not sure if the signature double cheeseburger warrants the $139HKD price tag, but it's still tasty. Throw in a shake and some fries (better with truffle!), the meal gets closer to 200HKD+ with the service charge. Thank goodness they accept credit cards. The service has been a mix of great and subpar. Some days when the gentleman from Vancouver is working, the service is professional, fun, and efficient. Some other days / hours, it's a crapshoot of casual and lackluster staff. The mileage definitely varies. I suppose the adage applies: come for the food and nothing else.
