The method of ordering at Big Fernand is easy. We went in the middle of the afternoon so there were a fair number of tables open. At the register, they will ask you how you want your burger. I ordered The Bartholomé, beef burger Medium. My friend ordered The Victor (veal burger) in medium rare. If you want to add fries and a drink, it will cost you an additional HK$45-50. Quite pricey for one person, but the serving of fried is generous, so it's worth sharing. The total for two burgers was around HK$250. The burgers were brought to our table within 10-15 mins. At first glance, I was very surprised with the size of the burger. It's diameter was a little bit smaller than that of my hand - so not small at all! Being in Central, I was expecting a teeny tiny burger, but Big Fernand exceeded my expectations. Let me cut to the chase. The Bartholomé was a delicious burger. One of the best I've tried in Hong Kong. For one, the burger bun doesn't get soggy and holds it shape even when you're downing the juicy parts of the hamburger. My medium burger patty came out medium, and was tender and flavorful. Seared on the outside, light pink on the inside. The raclette cheese, carmelized onions, and crispy bacon, oh my god. The bacon was slight too hard and burnt for my taste, but if you prefer your bacon that way, then the Bartholomé is for you! I tried The Victor, the veal patty EVEN MORE tender than the beef, but wasn't a big fan of the cilantro in the burger. The fries, excellently seasoned and perfect. I need not say more. So all in all, Big Fernand is worth the splurge given the quality and the generous portion size.

He asked me again, what kind - yoghurt, garlic, chilli? I should've taken a moment there and ran! I don't remember eating spicy yoghurt dips at any Middle Eastern places I've been to, but I calmly responded chilli. The lady in the kitchen just brought the wrap out, and when the owner(?) reminded her of chilli sauce, she took that plastic squeeze bottle that looked like ketchup. I consoled my self saying they must know better than to use ketchup in a falafel wrap. Especially when I've asked for a chilli sauce. A grumpy child all the way back walking home and then I open my wrap to see what looks like ketchup, no kidding. It tastes like ketchup, no kidding. Even my five years old could taste that. No lining of hummus, a very dry wrap. Pre fried cold falafels. I rarely, rarely, rarely call back. And I'd paid cash so nothing to gain there, but ketchup, for Christ's sake! Calling the place, he calmly repeated again that it's just their chilli sauce and they don't add sugar. Yeah, he could be speaking the truth. He might be adding four specks of chilli flakes in the ketchup and call it their chilli sauce, so technically, he didn't add any sugar! Argh, Hong Kong!
