I think Popeyes was closed for renovation with the rest of the food court while I was there, so I went ahead to Old Town White Coffee for some halal Malaysian fare. As HKIA was my transit stop both to and from my destination, I ate at Old Town twice and was not disappointed.
The first time I dined at Old Town, I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered a curry chicken with paratha. While the paratha was pretty good, the two pieces they gave were half the size of a normal paratha. The paratha was really good, though. I can't say the same for the curry chicken. The curry was watery and too mild for my taste. The chicken did not carry the curry flavor through each bite. Next time, I'll remember to get either their rendang or nasi lemak rice dishes, or probably one of their noodle dishes as long as I have a big appetite at the time.
On the way back home from vacation, it was breakfast time in Hong Kong, so Old Town was serving their breakfast menu. I got to try the kaya and butter toast as well as the Hainan toast with condensed milk. I also ordered an iced white coffee. I was not disappointed at all. In fact, I absolutely loved the kaya and butter toast and highly recommend it if you have a sweet tooth. The Hainan toast was really good too, but slightly more savory. The white coffee is really strong but very good! It will definitely give you the jolt you need for the day. I really want to try the teh tarik next time. I was around just in time for them to open their regular menu, so I decided to order fried chicken and I really liked the crispy, spicy batter. I feel like the meat was too bland on the inside, though. As if the spices didn't completely go through. In any case, I know I have more dishes to try here in the future, so I'm looking forward to my next visit! read more
