It has been my tradition when I have to go through Hong Kong on my way to visit my family. Before heading out of the airport, I would get my dinner at one of the restaurants at the arrival hall, but this one has options like wonton noodle, and fried noodles that I miss. When you check-in at the counter, they have one person to help you store large luggages. Now they will give you a tag with number to retrieve your luggage later. If you were not used to it, be prepared to have very close proximity with strangers. Then, the most difficult part was to know what to order. I opted for ice lemon tea and wonton this time. Ho Hung Kee is my absolute go-to whenever I'm at the HK airport. I practically can't leave Hong Kong without stopping here to get my comfort food fix first! This place is a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot, and it shows. They are famous for their Beef Chow Fun, so naturally, that was at the top of our list. We were heading out to Vietnam and wanted to introduce the food to our son who was traveling with us. We went all out and ordered the famous Beef Chow Fun, the Char Siu (BBQ pork) and Roasted Goose combo, and a bowl of Wonton Noodles. Everything just hit the spot. The flavors were authentic and exactly what we needed before a long travel day. We got super lucky this time--no line at all! The service was friendly and surprisingly fast, which is a huge plus when you have a flight to catch. We left feeling full, satisfied, and ready for our vacation. Very fresh shrimp wonton, and the texture of the noodle is really good. The only thing is that the portion is so small because i am so used to the serving size in LA. There's also one in Hysan Place but I heard it was renovating or moving. This is one of the few places you can get pork/shrimp wonton as most wonton places have switched to full shrimp so they can charge more. You can also switch out noodles for other things. We got yee mian which was ok. The bbq stuff was really bad. The goose was dry and the skin was not crispy. The bbq pork had a crispy skin but the mustard had such a weird taste and it had some sweetness to it. It should be spicy but it wasnt. My first meal after a 14 hour flight and eating Airplane food was at Ho Hung Kee! Maybe it is ok for some but I was having tears of joy while I eating my rice rolls and wonton noodle soup! Super busy even for late afternoon. As a single diner, you have no choice but to share a small table with strangers. This may be a little awkward for some, but it does make the wait for a seat so much faster! You will be given a number when you leave your luggage in the front before being seated. Really decent Cantonese food priced for an airport. I ordered a bowl of fish congee, roasted goose and chicken feet. Total came out to be 350 HKD. The congee was amazing, thick and obviously cooked for hours. The goose had excellent skin, but the meat was a bit chewy and not tender enough. The chicken feet was falling off the bone but a bit salty. Service was friendly and they didn't rush you out. They're famous for wonton noodles so I'll try that next time. Plenty of diners ordered just that and the servers don't judge. I think it may be a good stop before you try to figure out the various options to get to your hotel in HK. read more

Not my favorite Cantonese bbq ... but typical for airport food. Expensive small portions. Hungry to devour Cantonese BBQ after 15 hours in plane... it cost me 500 HK or $70 USD to feed me. It still mesmerizes me the quality of food at Hong Kong International Airport. There are SO MANY restaurants and while I have not been to every restaurant in the world, I doubt any airport can compete with the quality, and wide assortment of choices here. Ho Hung Kee is on the first floor near arrivals. It's a can't miss spot as it is one of the busiest restaurants on the first floor (second floor a whole nother story). This is a sit down restaurant, with a big menu and just could not try everything, so this is based on my pictures included. The Chow Fun is one of the ways you judge a cantonese restaurant, just like how the shrimp dumplings in a dim sum restaurant is how you judge them. The Chow Fun was perfect in the sense the noodles had a thin and not starchy taste. The beef, sprouts, onions stir fried to perfection. It all went together perfectly and quite a big serving, though a slight pricey, worth it. Roast Pig was succulent. Juicy. Must have this with rice to balance out the fat. Man, mouth is watering writing about it! Black Sesame dessert, thick but not laboring. Not too sweet, heartening way to end the meal. Loved it all. But broth was not great with a bitter salty flavor 1-star. Noodles ok. BBQ pork pretty good 4-star. Tea for HK$5 served room temperature - 2-star. Also they seated me with a stranger - which would be fine for a busy airport except the restaurant was mostly empty so it was unnecessary. Ho Hung Kee is conveniently located inside the Hong Kong International Airport. This is a perfect spot for those just coming off their long flight and hungry for some quality food. They are famous for their wonton noodles which come in a delicious broth. The wontons are a bit small compared to the ones outside of the airport but the broth and fresh shrimp are what makes this dish a must try. It can get pretty packed but the wait never feels too long. They have a section for you to leave your luggage and it is watched securely by an attendant while you dine. They also have various rice dishes and options. We tried their rice noodles with fried eggs and it was absolutely amazing with a dash of sweet soy sauce. When it comes to airport food, this was one of the best we've tried. read more

It has been a long while that a nice restaurant with great food along with good service has opened up in the airport/Tung Chung area. This is the place. Started off with the wonton noodles, which was by far one of the best that I've had in Hong Kong. Six little parcels wrapped with shrimp, submerged in a fragrant broth accompanied by thin egg noodles that were cooked perfectly. Next was the Chu hou braised beef brisket. Beef was really tender with subtle hints of Chu hou. If you looking for the intense version, then this one is not for you. The roasted goose were surprisingly good, as well as the dim sums. The stir-fried rice noodles with beef (干炒牛河) was one of the best I have had. Please note this dish is not for the health-conscious. Pairing the rice noodle dish with a congee is a great combination. Congee was piping hot, silky smooth and not too watery of a viscosity. Although this restaurant just open and I'm sure the management has placed there top staff here for the initial stages, I do hope they can maintain the current service and food standard for the long run. Stay away from this restaurant. Service is extremely bad and very rude. An elderly family (probably over 70 years old) was planning to make a surprise birthday party for an American who was visiting for a day. They brought in a birthday cake. But the restaurant charged them $100 for just brought in the cake, even they also ordered food from the restaurant. More important, the restaurant did not inform the customer in advance. the restaurant does not have birthday cake or cake to provide, so obviously it is is logically for the customer to bring the cake. But what threw me off was that I was charged for the two tap water my kids had at HK$5 each while the menu only stated that HK$5 for tea. I spoke with the manager who told me that this is how they charge and will bring this up in his next management meeting.
