Zz's is a known member only restaurant, but I love that they open it to everyone for lunch. Their food and service is always very good especially after a day of walking around the Design District.

The service is always top notch, and I love the atmosphere of the inside as well as the comfortable lanai. The food is delicious and the quality is fresh. The ginger salad is probably the best I've had. I really recommend the Wagyu Sando and make sure to finish with desert.

Came here for a work lunch and it wasn't very crowded at 1:00pm. We were seated immediately without a reservation. We sat outside and took a look at the menus. We were offered water but we went with tap (it's $10 per person for still or sparkling water). We got mock-tails instead for $12 per drink which is the way to go. We also got the bento boxes which had plenty of food. I got the teriyaki salmon ($39) which came with rice, spicy cucumbers, spinich and a spicy tuna sushi roll. The service was too notch and I'd definitely go back.

Came here for a pre-fix menu work dinner that was alright. Food wasn't anything special. Came again for eat a la carte and the food, particularly the sushi, was fantastic. The seafood was so fresh and just melted in your mouth. Service was exceptional. Team would come often to check in on our food orders as well as to pour us wine. Definitely felt well taken care of. Ambiance is elegant. Great place for drinks.

My wife and I had lunch here today. We started with the miso Cesar salad it was great, second was lobster dumplings fabulous! Then we had the pork belly special which was the best ever! We could not decide between the house burger and the Waygu so we had both. Loved them but preferred the house burger. The food here is simple items but simply fabulous! The service and atmosphere were very nice either inside or out are great. We highly recommended!

One of the best sushi experiences I've ever had! This will be short because I all I can say is that it was a wonderful experience all around and there was nothing negative about it! This place is top notch. I think this is the best service experience I've ever had. I believe our server's name was Tyler and he was magnificent. The food was DELICIOUS, but special mentions to the uni toast and lobster dumplings. I cannot wait to go back!

Well, snotty or what! My friend and I were in the area, after a very pleasant evening in the Miami Design District, and we saw this nice space with all the umbrellas (see my photography) and went to the hostess stand to enquire. We asked is this a speak easybar? diner? restaurant? and talk about look down her nose at us! She said it was a private club for private guests. HUH? I asked what does that mean? She told us you have to be a member here or you cannot get in. I said so how can anyone dine here then? She said you have to be a member and to be a member you have to be recommended by a fellow member to even be allowed in. I said how does his work? She said I don't know I don't make the rules (how about you find out and explain in a gracious way, just a suggestion....)... My friend joked to me and said sounds dodgy to me, perhaps it is a swingers club! Now I know Miami likes to act posh/different/exclusive, BUT, But, But.. Once home I reviewed this establishment.... what's the deal? I STILL don't know. Here is their spec on their website "A private membership club by Major Food Group designed for individuals who appreciate the highest caliber of dining and service, with a collection of amenities unlike anywhere else in Miami." and "ZZ's Club is a restaurant and private membership club from Major Food Group located in the heart of the Miami Design District. With interiors designed by the renowned Ken Fulk and hospitality tailored to each of our Members, the property should feel like a second home. The first floor houses a traditional sushi omakase counter presided over by acclaimed chef Yasu Tanaka, as well as a modern Japanese restaurant offering a range of à la carte servings. On the second floor, the collection of amenities includes a cigar terrace, backgammon balcony, and an intimate bar and lounge. This endeavor is the sister restaurant of ZZ's Clam Bar, the jewel-box destination for seafood and cocktails in New York City's Greenwich Village, just down the block from the original location of Carbone."

    Phil C.

Highlights: * Chef's counter Omakase $250++ per person presided by Michelin Starred Sushi Chefs * A high end see and be seen venue * A private membership club upstairs and for the main dining room however the Omakase counter is open to non-members The trio behind Michelin starred Carbone New York (and now Miami), and ZZ Clam Bar New York, also the smallest Michelin Starred (10 seat) restaurant, bring you ZZ's Sushi. Jeff Zalaznick, Mario Carbone and Rick Torrisi feel that Miami will become a world class dining destination and have targeted the high end diner. You could easily spend $1,000 for a couple (or a lot more) with some wine, upgrades, tax and tip but if you got the bucks you'll be dining on some excellent food in beautiful surroundings, custom marble sushi counter, vintage clamshell dining chairs, antiques, brass lights, artistic touches and surrounded by Miami's elite. The Omakase is prepared by Chef's Masa Ito and Kevin Kim formerly of Sushi Zo, a Michelin starred restaurant in Manhattan. Chef Masa Ito was very generous with the Osetra Caviar, Wagyu and high quality seafood from Hokkaido and around the world. The highlight was actually not on the Omakase but you must order the Wagyu Sando as an extra. That is a sandwich featuring crispy Wagyu filet with a truffle emulsion served on Japanese milk bread, and you will never forget it. There is a two page wine list featuring about 24 Champagnes and bubbles, starting at $110 for Recaredo Cava Gran Reserva and going up to $2,400 for a Magnum of Dom Ruinart. Champagne is a perfect accompaniment for Sushi and a bottle of small Grower Dhont can be had for $150, also found as the house wine of Per Se and French Laundry. If bubbles are not your thing bottles of Sake start at $175 for Taiheikai Tokubetsu Junmai and go up to $550 for Tatsuriki Gold Junmai Daiginjo. You can find 23 white Burgundies, some Gruners, Riesling, Riojas, Sauvignon Blancs and Chardonnays to round out the whites. Red Burgundies start at $120 for Beaujolais and rise to $2,450 for DRC Corton . The least expensive Bordeaux is $275 for the second wine of Rauzan Segla and top out at $5,995 for Lafite 2000. There are plenty of California Cabs starting at $170 and up to $2,695 for a magnum of Bond Quella 2015. Corkage is $85 per with some limits. So if you've read this far you get the idea that this is not a place for those on a budget but a luxury experience to compete with the growing roster of notable Japanese venues in South Florida, Nobu, Naoe, Hiden, Nossa, Uchi, Osaka, and the less expensive but reliable Makoto, Zuma, Etaru, Ke-Uh, Kuro, and more. As with the migration of people from New York and other places becoming Floridians increases the top restauranteurs are following and the competition is heating up. We all benefit.

This review is for the sushi bar where they serve omakase, and you can add items from the a la carte menu. The sushi bar sits ~10 people in what feels like an intimate dining room, and there's also restaurant seating in the courtyard and a speakeasy-type lounge upstairs. Omakase is $250 and they have seatings at 7 and 9pm. ZZ's is your opportunity to get Michelin-level sushi in Miami, as the chefs hail from Sushi Zo in LA/NYC. The omakase started off incredibly strong with 3 appetizer courses: oyster topped w/ caviar, bluefin tuna, and scallop topped w/ uni and caviar. The miso soup had good chunks of crab in it. We were then taken on a journey through several pieces of nigiri that opened my eyes to how important temperature was to the harmony of the sushi, they were so perfectly done. The nigiri included seared A5 Miyazaki wagyu of course, and other decadent bites included Hokkaido uni over ikura and a toro & caviar hand roll. To top it all off, dessert was a deliciously tart key lime pie bar. Service was excellent, from the hostess walking us in to the waiters being ready to wipe our plates clean between sushi courses. The restaurant itself was gorgeous and I loved the playlist. ZZ's did an amazing job of setting a high bar and creating an intimate dining experience that will have people coming back again and again.

When I came last weekend the vibes were great, it was just extremely packed to the point that everyone was grinding up against each other. Which in that moment I didn't care because I figured it's at capacity and that's normal. Although, I realized when I was leaving the bar that someone had opened my purse and taken my entire wallet. I was bummed because I couldn't continue partying up the night. This led me to message them on Instagram, which was great because they told me to come in and drinks would be on them for the inconvenience. We got to the bar and I spoke with the bouncer and he said to go to the bartenders, that they would direct me to Rensel the bar manager. He was absolutely lovely, provided my friends and I a round of cocktails and told us to look for Sophia for another round. We didn't end up getting another round because we were exhausted from dancing the night away. It was still very nice and accommodating that they did that and we appreciated it. Sophia was very bubbly and attentive as well. Overall, if you are looking for a bar with a disco ball!! This is a cool spot to come to, they have so many different specialty cocktails. They are all delicious and unique! The music is great, the dj really keeps the crowd moving. For parking, there is a lot in the back of the establishment or street parking as well.

Ironically, we happened to pass by on our way to dinner, and when I asked the bouncer, he told us kids were allowed--so in we went. Watching the bartenders in action was a performance in itself, and my kids were completely amazed. We only stopped in for drinks, and since we were with kids, we were seated at the tables rather than the bar, which was totally fine. In the back, there's a speakeasy-style area that was dimly lit and lined with books, creating a really cool, intimate atmosphere. Overall, we loved the experience and will definitely be back.

Each course was thoughtfully designed and was delicious at every bite. I especially loved the crudo and dessert. This was my first time having crudo with a coconut milk base and it was to die for. We arrived on time for our reservation made for "INSIDE SEATING" (note you will have to pay to make a reservation.) The unfriendly hostess walked us to an outdoor table - that despite the multitude of fans - was humid and uncomfortable. When I told her we didn't want a table outside it seemed to bother her and her response: we are really full I won't promise you anything (eye roll) and she proceeds to walk back through the aisle of empty tables to the front desk. Behind us was a couple who arrived AFTER we did. And can you believe they were escorted without an issue to the upstairs INSIDE SEATING dining area - to the very tables they apparently did not have for us!!! I have to wonder if this was profiling or she just didn't like our face? Guess not all guest are created equal here. Forced to seat us inside after my husband showed her the reservation for INSIDE seating she "accommodates" us downstairs next to the bathrooms in a tight miniature table on uncomfortable plastic wicker chairs between two large groups where we couldn't get out of our seat and had the view of a water damaged ceiling over our heads. After what seemed like quite a while the waiter (poor guy) came to greet us. Now this was the only highlight of this erroneous Michelin Star establishment. He seemed overworked with all the tables in that area but was polite attentive and funny. So pleasant that I wonder why he's working in this place. I had to ask for the bread that never came on its own. The drinks were ok. The food: Lobster - the pastry was soggy on the bottom and tasted slightly burnt on the outer crispy corners. The lobster was well cooked and the sauce was good but nothing spectacular. Hanger steak - the steak was very good - cooked exactly as ordered (medium rare). The sweet potato cakes crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and the mushroom were cooked to perfection. Wish there was more of it, you get 2 sweet potato cakes the size of a strip of gum and 3 mushrooms slices. The halibut - hands down the most delicious thing on the menu. The fish was fresh and the caviar sauce was really exceptional - wish I had a spoon. Chocolate caramel - The dessert was a mix of flavor the chocolate has a tangy taste, the ice cream on the bottom was a nice surprise, however it left much to be desired - we left half on the plate. All in all the front of the house sets the tone and the horrid attitude of the hostess and the way she refused to sit us upstairs in our reserved requested dining area, soured our experience from the start. My understanding is that a Michelin Star is a highly sought status that entails the full experience of a dining establishment and I'm sorry to say they should rethink giving Le Jardinier this award in the future. Don't come here.
