Great location literally right next to Wynwood Walls. Moody interior with dim, warm lighting. My server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I opted for the $68 Chef's Tasting Menu. A downside is that if you're a solo diner, you only get to choose 9 items rather than the 10. The presentation and plating was well thought out and beautiful. Cannot vouch for the cocktails (there are only 2 in the happy hour menu so you're going for the food here) but the blood knot mocktail had a nice blueberry syrup I enjoyed. The prices are reasonable it's so easy to order the whole menu which is how happy hour should be. (Order a bunch of stuff and try it out)-- I'd leave it up to you on whether or not you think the portion size is worth the it but everything we had was delicious. The food here is absolutely amazing! This restaurant is more tapas style sharing so we got a few bites of different things and each bite was flavorful and just really well executed. This is a more upscale dining experience but all things considered I would still consider it to be relatively well priced considering the quality of service and dish execution. The main reason we wanted to come was the miso Carmel ice cream and it was so yummy! While I don't think I would come all the way back just for this dessert again, I would love to try more items on their menu! Everything sounded delicious! My favorites are the edamame dumplings and the ribeye scallion robatayaki. The drinks are also all really good, but the Uni Knot is definitely my favorite. While the structure initially seemed like each guest could choose one item from each category, it turned out to be family-style, with one selection per category shared across the table. Though slightly misleading, the portions were generous and surprisingly satisfying. Here's what we tried: Cold Plate: Tuna Tartare : my favorite dish of the night. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. Small Plate: Wagyu Soup Dumpling : Rich and savory, this was a close second favorite. Robatayaki: Scallops: Delicious with a spicy kick. I'd describe this as a Japanese tapas style restaurant. It's advised to order a few dishes to share. The plates are pretty small. The Miami spice was amazing. Great selection, however everyone on the table has to agree on the courses. That was a little restrictive if you have two people with different palettes or allergies etc. however since the selection is good, it's manageable. Service was friendly. The star of the night was the food. Incredible flavors and cooking temperatures. Everything other than the mochi was very good. Mochi seemed like a regular freezer isle one. Nothing special. The shrimp yakitori was so good we ordered it again. Tuna tacos flavorful as the starter. I was getting a little worried the bites might be too small to fill me up, but the last to the table: black cod friend rice, significantly helped. The service is beyond amazing, the tables are spaced perfectly throughout the restaurant and just a comfortable vibe overall. I've been meaning to write this review for a few months. The food was good but there are definitely better places in Miami, especially for the price. What completely ruined the experience was the service. The server in the photo, I believe his name is Zoe, started clearing our table, and I asked him not to take a small plate with sauce. Instead of just leaving it, he completely dropped all the plates he was removing from our table and then ignored us afterward, clearly upset that I had asked him to leave the sauce. My partner and I were very confused and uncomfortable with the situation. Another server had to step in, apologize, and take over our table. At the end of the meal, after we had paid, the manager came over, apologized, took our number, and promised to follow up with a complimentary meal. That never happened, which made the apology feel empty and insincere. It would have been better not to offer anything at all than to say something and never follow through. Overall, the experience was not worth the time or money. It's sad because bad servers and poor management completely ruin what could be a good meal. Serving means delivering good customer service and a positive experience, and if that can't be done, proper training or hiring a different person is necessary. She gave excellent service and even gave us 2 glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. The happy hour menu is available every single day from 5-7 and it is very affordable, along with very good portions. Miami Spice is $60 for 6 items and dessert for each. We stopped in on a Friday around 7pm and were surprised they had a table available which, in hindsight, should've been a clue. The space itself is nice, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The restaurant describes itself as modern Japanese, which here seems to translate to low-quality fish, sloppy rolls, and nigiri that literally fall apart when you try to pick them up. Nothing we ordered stood out. The uni and ikura were skimpy, poorly presented, and lacked freshness. Service was equally disappointing. Despite the restaurant being only lightly occupied and having plenty of staff on the floor, dishes came out painfully slow and completely out of sequence, as if no one bothered to look at the order as a whole. The cod rice was greasy and flavorless, and the mushroom rice wasn't any better. Overall, the experience didn't match the price point. Everything seemed to be carefully grilled over special wood coals (hinoki?). The chicken thighs had a richness that was contrasted by the bitterness of the charred edges. I had just come back from Taiwan, so I had to have the pork bao which is more cantonese than Japanese, but who's counting? With this execution, and good times, we don't need to be purists. We also tried the spicy tuna roll which had lovely pieces of fresh fish on them. Our waiter was very attentive and gave us dedicated attention. The restaurant is beautifully done, with tables, a sushi bar and a large cocktail bar that was full by the end of our dinner on Saturday night. The service was exceptional. All of the staff were professional, kind and very knowledgable about the menu. The executive chef even came out to us to explain the tasting menu and concept. All of the food was delicious and so flavorful. There was not one dish we didn't enjoy. The price of the tasting menu is so affordable and you get more than enough food.
