Used a recent Groupon to try this place out.. I had not even noticed this place until about a month ago..mind you I've been here since 1996..lol.. Anyways my friend and I both had the Gyro platter which came with a ton of meat a nice portion of fries and salad all served over a warm pita. It was pretty good. Didn't get the Falafel Platter but that looked good and they gave a generous portion as well. Seating was great.. went for the lunch time rush so I am always a little worried about that. They have tons of it upstairs. downstairs and outdoor seating. They have lots of menu choices and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly- I will definitely go back. read more

A solid place to go every once in a while. The food is good, fairly affordable (usually spend $15 or 20 per person when we go there for a quick dinner). The set up might seem a bit strange to some people as you go in, look at menus, order in front of the kitchen, and then wait around for your order along with all the other people in line. Maybe the best Greek food in the city for the price. I ate the Gyro but I wanted to try a falafel too! The very kind gentleman allowed some flexibility to buy just one to try. I was in the Dupont Circle area last night for a show, so stopping for dinner seemed a natural idea. I chose Zorba's, as Greek has long been 1 of my favorite foods. Entering thru the nearly-full patio, I was reassured by the clean, empty dining room. I scanned the menu & then ordered from the kitchen. My items were taramasalata, pork souvlaki sandwich & a birch beer. Evidently the woman taking my order didn't hear 'birch beer', & instead entered 'iced tea'. Oh well. As I waited, the area around the counter filled rapidly, but we were all good-humoured, so it wasn't unpleasant. Finally my order was served; I took it back to the dining room & dug in. 1st I ate the taramasalata, a Greek meze of caviar. It's been a life-long favorite of mine. Though not at the top of taramasalata's I've had in my life, this 1 didn't disappoint, being creamy, slightly tangy & not too salty. Next was the pork souvlaki. It was just ok. If that had been the only thing I'd ordered, I probably wouldn't return to Zorba's. The menu is extensive, & lists many more items I'd definitely like to try. Service is attentive & unobtrusive, & prices are very low, especially considering the quality of your food. I'll definitely return! read more

I would definitely recommend any of their pita sandwiches, which are warm and just freaking delicious. Also, I've gotten the veggie sampler platter (I think that's what it's called?), which is a little more food, and super delicious. The only downside is that it's kinda pricey for the amount of food, but whatevs. It's so worth it. read more

This place is fantastic and affordable. I've grown up eating and making Greek food. I never thought I'd find a place as good as my favorite hometown restaurant but this comes really close! The salad dressing is delicious and the bread tastes really fresh. The avgolemomo soup is really good- though I generally like it better with orzo but this is good too! The chicken in it was white mean- not grisly like some other restaurants. I've also had the pastitsio which is also reallyyy tasty and comes as a huge portion. We order from Zorbas on a regular basis for office meetings and the like, and the food is fantastic -- everything is fresh, there's a great variety, and the portions are a very good value for the price. Everyone loves it (vegetarians and carnivores alike), and other organizations visiting us for meetings have actually started requesting lunch from them when we plan meals... it's a welcome, fresh change from the usual sandwiches and salads, and there's enough variety that everyone is happy. This no-frills joint is perfect for grabbing a quick meal with friends. You order at the counter and they announce over a loudspeaker when it's ready. It's super casual and very quaint. I consider myself a foodie when it comes to Mediterranean food. I regularly eat at the Greek Spot, Yamas, and numerous other authentic Greek restaurants all over the city. With that said, Zorbas became my new favorite place simply after having gone their once. The actual venue is really authentic, providing a true Greek atmosphere while you indulge in some of the best Greek food in DC. The food is phenomenal; after finishing the Yero platter and a side of feta spread, I literally had trouble walking out the door. All in all, this is a must visit restaurant located in the heart of DuPont and I know for a fact I will be coming back here regularly. Zorba's is an institution in DC. Hands down the best traditional Greek comfort food in the city. Pro tip.... Get the pork gyro. It's more traditional than the regular beef/lamb combo and Zorba's does it insanely well. Marinated, thin sliced pork that manages to stay totally juicy. read more
