With tip & taxes my orders would average out to about $125. unlike their competition, the restaurant would never give us anything for free as a thank you, not even a single can of soda. The final straw that broke the camels back for me was when my last order exceeded $174 & once again, not even a small plain fried rice... nothing. Their food was decent, not bad but not exceptional but that was the last time for me. All their competitors will give free two littre sodas or entire lunch or dinner meals for the kind of money I use to spend with them, sometimes multiple free items, just to show their appreciation. I'm a very loyal customer. Once I get use to a place, I usually stick with it but this place made me feel as though they really didn't appreciate my business. Thankfully, I'm not having that same experience with one of their neighboring competitors.

However, the delivery experience has been very uncomfortable. On my last order, I only had $13 left in my bank account and paid $11 for the food. When the delivery driver arrived, he immediately demanded a tip. I explained that I didn't have cash, but he insisted that I send him a tip through Zelle. He stood there and refused to leave until I did it. He literally watched me open my banking app, saw that I only had $2 left in my account, and still waited while I sent those last $2 as a tip. He even checked to make sure the payment went through before leaving. I want to be clear that I do tip when I can, because I understand that delivery drivers work hard. But sometimes money is tight and people are just trying to afford food. Being pressured and essentially forced to tip is extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional.

She just shouts the same thing at me again. I press no tip again, sign my signature and when I go to press confirm she presses the tip amount right before I confirm. She essentially just forced me into giving her a tip with her slight of hand, maybe hoping I wouldn't have noticed. I say "Oh really? Well, I guess we'll never see each other again." She just turns around and shrugs her shoulders. I was absolutely shocked. To top it off: Really bad food. Tiny bowl of noodles with three sad little leaves of bokchoy.

But when you don't have the luxury of a car and you don't want to pay 40 dollars on UberEats for good Chinese food, you'll be convinced to try your luck in the area. Not gonna lie, I chose Dumpling House because it was the closest Chinese food near me, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The women who greeted me at the counter was friendly and took my order: one large hot and sour soup and a small house special fried rice. I wouldn't recommend coming on a hot day because the shop can be hot if you're waiting for takeout, but the wait wasn't too long. After about 15 to 20 minutes, I was walking home with $11 dollar takeout. The hot and sour soup is pretty good and I've had a lot of hot and sour soup in my life. The consistency is not too thin or thick and the flavor is balanced (not too sweet or sour). For 5 dollars, I think it's a steal. The house special rice is good and not too greasy. For some reason, it still tasted Americanized even with the Asian ingredients I was used to. There was some chicken, barbecue pork, mixed veggies, egg, etc. and the ingredients mixed well despite it tasting American. Even though I got a small rice, I still had some leftover to eat the next day. Despite my obviously biased Asian tastebuds, I was very happy with what I got and I will definitely be back for some more hot and sour soup!
